Did you get your cheese balls at the food auction?

what do you think I'm made of money?

ETA - but seriously I'd kill for some cheese balls right now. They looked so good.

It's nice that Sugar Bear can't be bothered to take out his wad of tobacco when he does his TH's.

I watched. Then I rewatched. It's like that bad carwreck you pass by. You don't want to look but you do. You turn away and yet you look again.

Hey I watched! Both episodes. Didn't flinch. Here is what I have to say: I think they are all, with the possible exception of Alana, in on it. They get the joke, know what is expected by TLC and are happy to oblige.

Yes I think what we are seeing is the real deal in terms of their living situation and interactions. But they are taking some of their socially unacceptable habits, things that they probably do not do outside of their own home, and cranking them up to 11. As an example: we have seen on Toddlers and Tiaras and even occasionally during this show, that June does have a command of the English language and can speak in a way that does not need to be captioned. There is no doubt in my mind that during the Etiquette Lesson, Pumpkin was playing for the cameras. She knew exactly how NOT to behave, and therefore conversely how to behave, and chose to yank the teacher's chain. I believe the truest glimpse we got of what the family is really like is when we say Alana cheer for and encourage the other children at the beauty pageant - that showed some "home training" as my Gram used to call it. And, although I fear for the future of Glitzy from the previews, what we have seen so far shows them concerned for and attending to his needs.

Without amping up the bad (or overly redneck) behavior, there really is no show - not unlike the Housewife shows on Bravo. Without that something "extra" we are left with a family dealing, the best they know how to, with the effects of generations living on the poverty line. Their home is worn but tidy. The parents are loving to their children and the kids are not unlike any other average kid. They are a tight knit family with little squabbling.

Ugh - I had to come here to vent. I just read 10 pages over at TWOP about how this is the downfall of America and that they refuse to watch yadda yadda yadda. WTF? I feel like posting - if you don't wanna fucking watch don't watch and sure as hell don't post to tell us you didn't watch. I kinda wish the mod would step in. I was just getting so irritated.

The snark is gone they are just fascinated at how these are heinious people.

What I see is a shit load of snark, but a happy family. I need to loose a ton so I will snark on June's weight, but not gonna say she's an evil person b/c her eyes barely open and her chins have chins.

Mama Bear is no dummy - I think she's the 'brains' behind the operation and like Dilbert said has the family turning it up to an 11. Yes there is some trash in there - see discussions of biscuits at the 17 year old's sonogram appt.

Dilbert I'm also on board with your post that watching Alana truly cheer and encourage the other kids does speak volumes. Hell the little girl can barely keep a straight face as she's finger snapping, head rolling - I thinks she's in on it to..or at least has been told to do that when she's on camera. Her TH's are also so extra, but if you watch her interactions with the family aren't as bad - she too is turning it on for the interviews.

OMG. I just watched the 1/2 hour intro to Honey Boo Boo. Mr. Disco said, "I hope you know you are really lowering your standards by watching this." I guess he didn't see the look on my face. They certainly are entertaining, aren't they? I guess I'll have to watch it when he isn't around. Which makes me a true reality show addict; hiding it from family and all.

Last night's Toddlers and Tiaras was in my neck of the woods. Maybe I'll have to go next year to see some pageant moms up close. Or earn some extra cash as Pixie Stix vendor.
I loved that Jayla used the word "well" correctly in her TH. She deserved to win just for that.
Unfortunately Mackenzie inherited her mom's horse teeth. If anyone needed a flipper, it's that poor girl.

Priceless! Pure comedy gold discomom! You should go over to the forum at TWOP - there is a woman posting who was at that pageant and knows Mackenzie and family. Interesting insight.

Mackenzie made me sad, wanting to win so her parents would pay her more attention than her elfin little brother. And the speech impediments! Ay! That little girl's tears at the end broke my heart. Stupid mother.

Chloe's mom did not seem into it at all, thank goodness.

I am so loving HBB! To quote Mama Bear June - it's the bomb diggity! Somehow, if June hadn't gotten pregnant at 15 and had been able to get some education, I think she is bright enough to have had a successful career in sales.

Love that they are not pigs living in a pigsty. Love that they distinguish themselves from rednecks by the presence of teeth. And I love that June knew about the flesh eating strep.

Aw damn Finestra - I missed MacKenzie aka "where's my NeNe Bitch" LOL. The bitch part is my add, but you know that's what she was thinking, along with "where are my smokes"

I have HBBC on DVR.

I love that June at least had the presence of mind to get her GED. And that Sugar Bear wants to get married.
And while I don't think they are really my cup of tea, (or Mountain Dew) I do think that they all love each other. It's kind of sweet seeing HBBC fixing her mom's hair.

LOL..I will. I saw her on a recent episode of Toddler's and Tiaras where they were eating roadkill, so I had to give myself a day to recover.

And they really are quite an unattractive family...why would they be drawn to pageants?
