I'm glad you started this thread. I caught several episodes of this show during the marathon yesterday. It made me really really sad. One of the girls was crying because her stomach hurt and both Flabby and the girl's mother were yelling at her to "man up" and "act like an adult." Well, I'm 38 years old and I think that counts as an adult. When I had to take a wicked shit once I went home from work early because I don't/can't go in public and it was really making me ill. If that's what they mean by "acting like an adult" then there ya go. I can't believe how some of these girls are treated. I feel really bad for them. I love Flabby saying how she "raised" the girls. Um, whatever. |

My cousin lives in Pittsburgh. Her daughter was in competitive dance but not at Abby's studio. She said that that is how Abby really is. It's not an act for tv. |

Wasn't Kendall the one last season who competed against Maddie with solos? If so, then man, she seems really off compare to the rest of these girls now. |

I gave up on this show last season - What was the big Candy Apples divide? Was there a big argument? I got drawn back into this mess - it's the Pittsburgh porn. I miss my old stomping grounds. Now I may have to go look at the home tours on the web - I'll play guess this neighboorhood. Oh and I'm loathe to agree with Abby, but I feel bad for Nia that her mom can't be there. I can give a pass on the weeknight rehearsals as it appeared as if Nia's dad dropped her off, but I thought it was crummy to send Nia 400 miles away w/ just the other moms..Nia is too young IMO. To put my snark hat back on - Nia's hair was just a mess. It wasn't an Afro, it was just a "i don't wanna comb it" 'do during the first rehearsal...and the bow just stuck in that mess was just too much. |

My daughter went to dance conventions and competitions as just a student and with a competition team (West Coast Dance Explosion and L.A. Dance Magic to name a couple). They would use their dance revue routine and perfect it. There's no way they would learn a dance in 3 days. This learning a new routine every week to me is a bunch of bs and for show purposes only. Shoppergal...i used to spend a few weeks every summer up in Pittsburgh. My parents were from there, Munhall and Dormont. Still have a couple of cousins that live in the city. |

Cajun - how funny. My brother in law is from Munhall and my hubby is from Greentree. It did seem nuts that Abby was making them routines in such a short period of time. |

I get the feeling that the learn a lot of dances, but not in 3 days. Last week the group of 3 were being screamed at for not having mastered a dance that they learned "months" ago. I think Nia's mom is the only one who has any common sense. The blonde mom is a drunk I think. I really think these moms are off their rockers to allow their children to be treated this way. It's abusive on so many levels. That Candy Apple chick is an idiot. And poor little Vivienne. She can't dance and I think she has something else going on as well. |

You may be right about the blonde mom being a drunk. I know this is shallow, but that gap in her bottom teeth really bugs me. How about one less hair bleaching and one more trip to the dentist? I am shocked the way Abby and the moms behave. Calling each other white trash and whores. Who does that? |

I just love how Abby uses Nia's "ethnic look" to dress her up in leopard, have her play the schoolyard bully or put a big afro on her head. I guess PC hasn't hit Pittsburgh yet. |

LOL..did you see the episode with the guns? I'm surprised she didn't give Nia the lead in that one. The absolute worst routine was "Where have all the children gone?". |

Nothing more moving than children being abducted by pedophiles. Or a funeral theme dance. |

I don't know why dance teachers think they have to "tell a story". Good Lord, these are young kids. They couldn't give a shit about a "story" or not. They just want to dance. |

The owner operator of a beef jerky store! lolz. What a catch. How did Cathy Apples snag a younger husband? Oh and getting the young girls to dance with the attitude of, "you can't afford me!" ETA: Oops - a beef jerky outlet! |
