No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was being an asshole to Baby Sybie- because she's half-commoner (as Branson is her Father). Nanny West favored Titled (inbred-lol) Baby George, Mary and Matthew's Baby- she called Sybie a mongrel :(

??? Crowley was Irish?

Totally missed that - so what about the incest angle...I mean I know that was common back then, but am I the only one creeped out by their great love? I forget from the first episode...how distant was Matthew?

Oh and the actress who plays Matthew's mother appears to have had some work done between 3rd and 4th season. She looks less, well haggard. Used to be she and Violet looked the same age - but now they appear to have a decade or two between them.

What happened to Bates' limp? One scene he and Anna are talking about Gwen and they are talking and walking and he's not limping at all.

1/2 breed because the baby was 1/2 Irish.

At first I thought it was 1/2 upstairs, 1/2 servant, but considering the hostility towards the Irish, probably that.
Makes sense. No Shopper- Branson is Irish. Nanny West also called Sybbie "the chauffeur's daughter"

ETA: I think Matthew and Lord Grantham were 3rd or 4th Cousin's once removed. Bates still has his limp allegedly- but it does seem diminished this season- you'll notice down the road, too.

ETA: We missed the Boat :) Department 56 is releasing a 'Downton' lighted Village :) (or is it Department 59?- I just signed up)

Wait - I thought the nanny had baby crawly when she said half breed...duh, there's two babies in the house.

So over Xmas in Macys I saw Dontown Abby Jewelry...it actually wasn't bad. Wasn't on sale so I passed it buy. One of the makeup blogs I follow posted about it now being at Bed Bath and Beyond...random I know. It looked like interesting costume jewelry.

Dontown Jewelry

More googling tells me it's by the 1928 costume jewelry co. I have some decent costume stuff from them, also from Macy's

Shopper, they also have Downton Abbey jewelry on PBS. I ordered it for my daughter and son's girlfriend. Not too expensive, but nice.

thanks for the feedback disco. I really like the art deco necklace. it's so counter to everything I usually wear (ie big chunky to make my big chunky bod look smaller). But I'm drawn to it. I had gift cards burning a hole in my pocket at Macys but b/c it was not on sale I would not buy it. I know, I'm a weirdo.

I may check my bed bath and beyond b/c i can use the 20% off coupon I presume.

I bought the red drop earrings from pbs.org, and they're really nice in person and well made. pbs.org is free shipping and 20% off right now. I've been saving bed, bath, and beyond coupons since I heard they're having Downton stuff, too. But I'm salivating for the lighted Christmas Village- not out until June. Pretty expensive- the Abbey is $240.

Hmm. That is tempting. So I don't have to leave my house...that matches bbb price. I'm all for the lazy way out. Off to google.

I got my son's GF some pretty jet earrings from the PBS site and my daughter wanted a necklace with a crystal or cz or whatever. I love the jewelry.
My grandpa gave my grandma a necklace (in addition to a ring) when they were engaged. I has a blue stone, since her birthday was in Dec. When I got married my mom got a new chain for me and I wore it on m wedding day. I love it because it has that very Downton Abbey look. I'm saving it for my daughter to wear someday.

My Mom has some real deco stuff that was her Aunts- it's real marcasite and it's so beautiful. I have some real deco purses- they were my Godmothers. They are Whiting and Davis mesh bags and I love them. I also have some costume jewelry of my Grandmothers that I love. Of course, I need more "stuff" like I need a hole in my "menopause" head :) John always bought me the best presents- he bought me this amazing antique hair comb that looks so Downton. I could never wear it- but I love looking at it.

Aw...he sounds so sweet! Mr. Disco will buy me something... if *he* likes it. One Christmas I asked for a particular pair of opal (my birthstone) earrings. When I opened up the package, they were a different pair. He didn't like the ones I wanted. To me, that is just the worst. Why give a gift when you KNOW the person likes something else? I returned them and POUTED!! ( We had only been married a few years then) I think he has learned... or I learned , one of the two.
Sorry, that was so OT.
I'm in a quandary. Downton Abbbey Sun night, but so are the Golden Globes. And now that we have Charter, we don't have a DVR services (Charter is crap). I guess I'll have to see if they have a second showing for Downton Abbey.
