Charter is a cable service. They are crappy. And we live on the wrong side of town to get AT&T, which we had in Texas and really liked. I don't understand cable.
I looked and I will be able to watch the replay later on the in week. Good, because I really wanted to see The Golden Globes and Tina Fey and Amy Poller.

Disco I think they replay Downton. Maybe saturday night? i remember seeing a bunch of rebroadcasts as I was sorting through the channel line up the other day.
Here they replay over and over- I get 3 PBS stations- NJ, Long Island, and Philly- and I could watch 4 times a week if I want too. In particular, the NY station always replays Downton on Wednesday at 9 pm. If you just want to watch online, I do have a good site, with the episodes posted and no downloading: agoldenafternoon.com.

Mr Disco is funny- only giving what he likes-LOL. John DID pick my perfume- but he would still buy the ones I asked for, too- but he was really good at choosing scents for me.

Okay, I think I may be done with this show. It took me until Season Three to realize that this was indeed a soap opera, but I overlooked that due to the lovely clothes, scenery and accents. I had hopes since it was playing as part of Masterpiece Theater, that although a soap it would be an "elevated" soap.
So far this season the writing has been sloppy and last night's episode was a mess in many areas and for me, plunged too far into the soap opera rabbit hole. I have no interest in watching the same people make the same mistakes over and over again or watch the same people be tormented by trials over and over again. I need characters to develop, learn and grow as they would in real life. And don't even get me started on the use of sexual assault as a plot device. If the writing doesn't improve, and soon, I am out.

Dilbert, so last night was a surprise to you?

Bates is turning out to be unlikeable this season. That's all I've got. Glad they are down to one hour episodes. The premier was too long for me to get through in one sitting.

Shopper: no it wasn't a surprise, I had been "spoiled". What did surprise me was the poor storytelling.

I just watched ahead online- entire season 4 and the Christmas Special. so so so so good. I love it! Such a great season. The attack was violent and dark and a permanent mark for me I reall didn't care for it. But I love this show.

The worst thing for me is Cora Crowley's messed up accent, not pronouncing her R's and her whole lady bountiful affect.

dilbert, I reacted much like you. I feel like we finally were DONE with Anna and Mr. Bates trauma, and BOOM! It's back. It's not that I don't realize that rape of female servants was extremely common, it's more that I was so sick of Mr. Bates in jail crap that this bugged me so much. As you said, too straight up soap for me. Add that to the whole repeat of "fighting with Earl Crawley" as he refuses to modernize or properly manage the estate AGAIN, and I was so frustrated I stopped watching after seeing this last one. (I was watching on line.)

I decided I'd maybe watch it when it broadcast here, but it's up against Revenge, and the replays are almost all at weird times, like 2AM. So *#%^ it. I may be done too, unless they have a marathon or at least re-broadcast at decent times. Yes, I know, I need a DVD. It's on my list.

I still like it too ranjake. The first two episodes bothered and annoyed me, but last night was much better. I loved how Mrs. Hughes saved Tom's bacon last night, and ended that annoying storyline.

YES, Mariah! I am glad they ended that whole Edna story with a quickness. Now if they would just do the same with the Anna and Bates story, all would be good.

The more I watched Season 4, the more I liked it- will be interesting to see how you all react. By the time I got to the Christmas Special, which by now I've watched 5 times, it was one of my favorite seasons.

Yeah, I agree ranjake, didn't want to be spoilerish, and I haven't seen them all, but the first 2 were the ones that annoyed me the most. Then I settled in and enjoyed it.
