I'm so glad there's another who's equally disappointed in the second season. I saw season 2 a couple of months ago, (a friend downloaded it from a British site) and found it to be too predictable. I won't say anything else so as not to spoil it for anyone who still enjoys the series. |

If Season Three starts out badly I'm going to rent the original Upstairs, Downstairs. |

The original UD had so much more time to develop characters and the plots grew organically out of the character and what we'd learned about him/her. There were no "Oh, Matthew can walk" scenes that I can recall. And nobody called anybody "slut" or used the word "pregnant." Those words were not in use in 1917. I find it jarring when Fellowes does that; he's old enough to know the difference. Maybe he is winking at us, but in any event I don't like it. |

Sorry! I watched these episodes about a month ago when I downloaded them so I haven't been commenting so I wouldn't spoil. Glad to see Mary and Matthew finally get together. If they fuck around some more in Season 3 I'm going to find Julian Fellows and cock punch him. Same goes for Bates and Anna. Jesus Christ, let the two of them be happy and stop screwing with them! Glad to see Edith maturing over the season and I hope she gets some decent stories in the third season. Sybil's pregnant. DUH. Whoop de doo, Basil. I'm glad Daisy is coming to terms with marrying William on his deathbed but I still kind of agree with her that it was a bit dishonest. But, it's nice to see her forging a relationship with William's father and having a guiding voice in her life (other than Mrs. Patmore who means well but gets on my nerves). Anything major I forgot? |

Read in yesterday's NYPost that Hollywood producers are recruiting Michelle Dockery, the Mary character. Hope they make better use of the actress than Fellowes did. The series did very well in the ratings. Matthew is too wimpy for Mary, IMO. |

I enjoyed the finale, and am cautiously optimistic about Fellowes' plans for season 3. However, I'm totally behind Momo's plan to beat sense into him if Matthew/Mary and Bates/Anna are tortured throughout that season, too. I hope Michelle Dockery becomes a bigger star. J'adore. I also love reading Tom & Lorenzo entries on Downton Abbey -- in real life, Laura Carmichael (Edith) is frigging gorgeous. The makeup artists must do some major trickery with foundation to flatten her features and emphasize her nose/make her chin look more receded. When she's just herself, she is super-lovely. I was glad to see Edith going for what she wants, and hope she and Sir Antony get it on in s. 3. |

I just finished Season 2 last night, I have been avoiding this thread for MONTHS! LOL The bad: What the fuckity fuck on the Canadian English Patient? Is that going to come back again? What about Ethel's baby? What about Lord Grantham's housemade affair of the heart? I don't like those quickies that don't come up again. I got wondering if Ethel's baby will get adopted by one of the girls. Mary w/the husband who maybe won't be able to bear children? Old maid Edith? Sybil needing an English heir? I dunno. I smiled and cried when Matthew finally proposed. My favorite character is the Dowager Countess and my least favorite is Mary! She pissed me the hell off. 7 years in solving this problem, take one for the team girl! Make an arrangement! Just do it! How the hell did I feel badly for Thomas w/his counterfeit stores? How is it possible. I did though. Daisy looks better with her hair covered and up. I thought Anna was beautiful with her hair down in the boudoir with her husband. I think that the newspaper dude killed Mrs. Bates because she tried to double cross him with the info about Permouk (sp?) so he killed her. She in some way threatened to take away his ace in the hole where he had full rights to the story should he ever decide to do anything with it. I think this will clear Bates eventually. Love this show. When is Season 3? Fall? |

I can't figure out why this show isn't on my Direct TV channels. I'd love to watch it, but when I do a search for shows, it doesn't even appear. What gives? I feel like it must be playing on one of the channels, but it should show up in a search, even if it's on a premium channel. It's like it's hiding from me. Any other Pacific Northwesterners out their who can tell me the channel, day and time? /being clueless hopefully |

Mariah... it was on PBS. Go to the PBS website and you might be able to see the episodes. I know they are filming Season 3 now, since they show pictures in some of the trashy tabs. So far, I only know that Shirley McClaine is going to be on Season 3 as the American grandma. And that rumor has it that Dame Maggie is going to be leaving. SAY IT AIN'T SO!!! She is the whole show for me, and consistently reminds me of my mom with her snarky comments. As for when it will air... I know that Season 2 aired first in Great Britain, and the past two seasons it has aired in the US on PBS in January/February. So winter of 2013? (Another reason the Apocalypse can't happen in 2012!) |
