Disco, I read on one of the TV sites (EOnline?) that the rumor about Dame Maggie is false. |

I LOVE this series sooooooo much. Love the late night re-runs they sometimes play. So need to buy this so I can watch it wherever. I read this book about the real "Highclere Castle" where it's filmed- awesome. |

Maggie Smith is in Series Three, which will show in the UK in the fall and in the US in January, 2013. Supposedly she is NOT in Series Four. They've already planned a series Four and Five. |

I just rewatched the whole thing, start to finish, over the last week or so. IT WILL KILL ME TO WAIT UNTIL JANUARY. BTW, I saw some pics online when I was searching around for a US premiere date and guess who's getting married next season? EDITH! |

Who's she marrying???? Love "Downton" sooooo much. Really want to re-watch from season 1 all over again this summer. It will be so hard to wait until it begins again, totally. |

WHOO HOO, I'm so excited. Just by chance I went into my old UK download site this AM. It closed down due to UK regulations over two months ago. I had a message from the administrator directing me to tvchaosuk.com. I don't know if it is open to everyone, or what the story is. Anyway, its got Downton, Series three. Five shows have run so far. I only watched 6 or seven minutes of the first one and it looks promising. Spoiler, but it happens in the first 6 minutes, old man Grantham has lost his $$$$ (really Cora's money) in the market, idiot. Anna and Bates are on too. The family is planning the big wedding. YIPPEE. The clothes, to die for. Edited by weaver, Oct 15 2012, 01:17 PM.

I watched three episodes so far. It is better than Series Two, but not as good as Series One. Fellowes just goes too soapy for my taste. He could use a dollop of subtlety. In any case, I'm enjoying it, and the costumes/settings are to die for as usual. I don't think this is a spoiler, and anyway it came up in the first five minutes of epi one, but Cora's mother (and therefore Cora) is Jewish. I think historically this would not have been accepted in the Lord Grantham social circle at that time (they would have married around 1895 or so). But Fellowes must know better, so I'm probably wrong. I also read that they are planning a pre-quel, so maybe those types of questions will get answered. |

I tried to get into Downton Abbey. I borrowed the first season from my library. I really enjoyed the first 2-3 episodes and then it was getting too soapy for me. (And I love the book "Snobs" by Julian Fellowes.) Is there a UK version and a US version? I'm confused - or is one just ahead of the other?? thanks |

There is only one version, but it is running in the UK now, and won't run in the US until January. Last night was the eight and final episode of Series Three and it was wonderful. I am just gasping at the beauty of the costumes and the cinematograpy. Most of the acting is excellent, particularly the older female actresses. Series Three was up and down, but all in all I loved it. There will be a Christmas Special in the UK at Christmas, then wait until Series Four. Edited by weaver, Nov 5 2012, 09:09 AM.

I just saw Seasons 1&2 at Barnes and Noble on DVR.... and it said UK edition? I can't wait for Season 3. In one of my Entertainment Weekly magazines they said that the house staff has an "updated look", as well as many of the other main characters. How do they look, weaver? |
