Totally agree with you on Billy's look ( although I will admit that I love Billy Crystal... I guess it's more of a nostalgic loving, since When Harry Met Sally is one of my all time faves, plus, "to blave!" is one of our family sayings from the Princess Bride). I hate it when guys dye their hair one color. It looks so fake. Come on, we all know how old you are. I was glad to see Tom Hanks with his gray goatee. And was Billy's face so puffy from fillers? |

Billy's face was so waxen that it was distracting. Just grow old like Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Warren Beatty, etc. They are his age or older. Christopher Plummer looked better. However, I loved his schtick. That's what you get when you hire Billy. Trouble is I cidn't see a lot of the top 9 movies so I didn't appreciate all the lines. Thank heavens Eddie Murphy quit; the old (circa SNL) Eddie would have been great, but he has been away too long and has no edge now. Meryl's skin always looks great. Don't know what she does, but she must do something. |

Loved the dress on that Milla Jovivich the best - do I have her name right? Still think Angie is gorgeous but needs a little food. Brad never won Meryl must have had a great face and neck lift. She looked great and she's always so witty. Billy looked puffy. They probably fixed him up for the Oscars but it didn't go over well. I still love him. He's so much better than the others and can ad lib unlike most. I don't think it was fillers but I think they put some botox in his forehead. He's just getting old. Christopher P looked great considering he's been a heavy drinker for years. Husband told me that. |

Milla Jovovich (I think it is pronounced Yo-vo-vich). She did a lot of modelling back in the day, still does L'Oreal I think. She looked great. Angie and her dress looked weird. And her hair looked sloppy and was a strange color. Did you see the three who won the next award made fun of her sticking out her leg? I was surprised they'd take on Queen Angie. I thought Elizabeth Taylor deserved a separate tribute of her own. |

I didn't recognize Tom Cruise. He clearly had some work done on his face. And it wasn't good work. Looks like Billy Crystal miraculously grew a new head of hair. I'd love to know his secret, since mine hasn't grown back in and it's been about 3 months. I thought the whole thing was boring, never go to the movies anymore anyway. I refuse to pay $12 and then have to deal with the kids texting in the row behind me and there's nothing more annoying than the parents who bring their toddler to an R rated movie. |

I noticed Tom Cruise did some work too, his face was puffy. Whatever possessed him? Are they that insecure? |

Angelina Jolie seems like such an asshole. It's not enough that she's feted as the hottest woman who ever lived, the greatest humanitarian ever, the baddest of bad girls: she has to smirk and preen when giving out an award to other people? I fucking loved Jim Rash (Dean Pelton on "Community") shutting her down to her face by standing with his leg out. Loved it! |

Oddly she doesn't bother me at all. I thought it was just funny when the punked her. I actually bet they had a laugh after it - if you can believe she can laugh. Only thing I can't stand about her are her tattoos |

She doesn't bother me either. This sounds kind of odd, but she is like a "real" movie star of old or something, just so incredibly compelling on screen, she would have fit right in even in silent movies. I was just watching Girl Interrupted again the other night. It made me think (again) that her stunning beauty and out there life has almost overshadowed her significant talent. (re Meryl Streep. On the DVD commentary for Postcards From The Edge, Carrie Fisher actually talks about Meryl's skin at some point, calls it luminescent and goes on for a while about how mesmerized she was by Meryl's beautiful skin and glow. |

During her Kennedy Center Honor tribute, Kevin Kline talked about Meryl's dedication to her art. He told how after an exhausting day of rehearsing in the park for some Shakespeare, it was all he could do to drag himself to a cab and go home. But there was Meryl, hoping on her bike to pedal 12 miles downtown to her home. He said "what the Hell?" and she said "I have to build up my stamina" ... I think she probably is religious about preserving what she's got. Probably eats healthy, you know she did that whole "wash your vegetables for 2 minutes before cooking them to remove pesticides" campaign? And probably uses expensive and effective skin creams. I have a friend who is a cameraman and he got hired to shoot a red carpet at an Oscar event in NYC a few years ago and he talked about that girl who played "Meadow" on THE SOPRANOS ... he said her skin "glowed" ... and I said "Yeah, that's what money can do" ... and really, that is true. The make-up artists getting them all ready for the Academy Awards, for being on camera in front of a billion people, KNOW what they're doing. Add to that, Meryl's care of her assets, and you get that look. Which I was amazed by, too. OTOH, talking about new faces, I noticed Melanie Griffith in the audience, a few rows back from some major star in the front row who they showed a few times (Melanie got a lucky seat!) and HER face has improved. Like Joan Rivers, who at one point was in the bad number of plastic surgery phase, but then got the excesses corrected and emerged pretty ... well, okay, anyway. So now Melanie has gotten past her "overdone" phase and was looking more normal and almost good. Cindy Lauper, too -- she had that horrible face peel procedure and looked HORRIBLE. But now the recovery has happened and she looks better. |

I really appreciate that Meryl doesn't go in for the "look younger at any cost" plastic surgery. I vaguely remember her discussing the "sell by date" for actresses and how thrilled she was that she was still working. Maybe it was about Mama Mia, and her shock at playing a romantic lead at her age, how Hollywood was changing. In that DVD commentary Carrie Fisher, I think anyway, was saying her skin just glowed even without make up. |

So somewhere Seal is going through extensive plastic surgery right? B/c Heidi damn near admitted that she had at the very least an 'emotional' affair. I didn't realize we had this thread. Emmy's aren't my bag - but do any of you watch the fashion recap they run on E? It's tomorrow at 10pm EST. |

I like to watch it for the fashions ( loved Giuliana R's dress, too) and I'll try to catch Fashion Police tomorrow night, but I'll have to DVR it; Packers are on Monday Night Football. |
