Olivia and Joan never got along well. When Joan won the Oscar she didn't expect it and her sister was nominated and she felt something like horror to beat her sister -- then when Olivia won, Joan was backstage and waited to congratulate Olivia ... who walked right by her without stopping. They never got along and when their mother died, Olivia arranged and held the funeral without telling Joan -- which severed them forever. Joan said "if I die first, she'll probably be angry with me for having the last word" or something like that. Olivia lives in Paris and is nearly 100, so there wouldn't be travel for her in any case, but the Oscars were not honoring Joan anyway. Joan was one of my favorites of all time, especially for JANE EYRE with Orson Wells (hubba hubba) and THE WOMEN ... great actress. |

Your John Travolta name generator! http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/low_concept/2014/03/john_travolta_called_idina_menzel_adele_dazeem_what_s_your_travolta_name.html I'll use my board name for this one, and tack on a last name. So, Mariah Freshie. "Micah Feesher" |

Rebecca is my all time favorite movie. I know their story, its too bad. It would have been nice to see Olivia, old or not. Instead of Bette, although I loved the song, they could have had a montage of Shirley Temple singing and dancing her happy songs. Don't know how to do it right. No way should Gandolfii come first. Much as I loved him, he was a TV star first. Ralph Waite too. Just to shove Shirley, O'Toole, and Fontaine in the middle makes no sense. |

Glad someone agrees with me. James was actually started with my managers. He never really made it big in movies. It was also the coloring and the rush. I don't know but I was just so disappointed. I actually wait with my tissues every year for that part. I floved Rebecca too |

They should show everybody who was in a film that could have been considered for an Oscar and they should show them age-wise, oldest to youngest. Put a big "Born" and the year and we'll see it get more and more recent and understand both their ages and what history they lived through. But they should show EVERYBODY, even if they don't have a photograph. NO clips from movies, just their photo or name and the date they were born ... would go quicker and no one would be upset later. |

I think that's great in concept but impossible- there are probably hundreds a year. I just didn't like the way they did it period. You could have done a better job with photoshop Icy. It was so blah and odd and colorless. Maybe it's just me but I was very disappointed since as I said as odd as it is I look forward to this part. I wait or tape and cherish the moments of joy they gave me. I think Dh thinks I'm a freak but it's probably from my dad who reads obits. I have other friends who read death notes to see if they know anyone. I think it's an age thing.

http://www.vanityfair.com/vf-hollywood/vanity-fair-oscar-party-2014-photos#/slide/1?MBID=nl_20140305_oscar-party This is a pretty cool slide show. Many of the actresses wore different dresses to the Vanity Fair party, and frankly, several of them I like much more, for example, Anna Kendrick. 2nd choice dresses? |

Wow, thanks for sharing that, Mariah! I loved Kate Hudson's second dress. Anne Hathaway's was an improvement. Jada Pinkett Smith didn't need to bother. I love that Jennifer Garner didn't change! What was up with Spike Lee's shoes? Pretentious, much? ... and geez, Gigi Hadid, our little mini-RH next to Alec Baldwin and Kim Bassinger's daughter Ireland. Next Gen. Didn't know that Bruce Willis' wife is pregnant again. Talk about Next Gen. |

Is anyone watching the Grammys? Madonna cover your butt on the way in please. No one needs to be looking at that! I am sorry but the red outfit wasn't flattering during the song she sang. It had the granny pant cut across her hips and made her look like a wide and matronly matador. Lol. I love that McCartney got up and danced during ELO. Love that! His Wings contemporaries. Love the respect. Then of course they pan later and Beyonce famewhore poseur is standing too by herself. But at least she is talented. Loved Stevie Wonder coming out at the end of Usher singing his song. Katie Perry's song about DV? was good. Loved Annie Lennox - what pipes. Take that Madonna and all you other lipsynchers! And I thought Gaga did a great job with Tony Bennett. Much better than Tom Jones and the woman with him. She tried too hard. Jesse James or whatever. ETA - OMG Dwight Yoakham is on. I haven't seen him in years. I used to love him. Loved his first big hit album. Back in the day. Edited by Finestra, Feb 8 2015, 11:18 PM.

I can only imagine how jealous Madonna was that she wasn't picked to sing with Tony Bennett! Beyonce. YAWN! She was boring and looked horrible to me. Loved Annie Lenox and Katy Perry. Kayne sounded like shit even with autotune. I'll post more when I think of more. |

I was watching Better Call Saul. By the way, it repeats tomorrow night, followed by Part 2 of the opening. |
