Great video, Icy.

I watched the E! show. Can't stand when the networks do their version, as bad as Rancic is I think the network people are worse. And I like Kelly Osborne. But without looking forward to Joan on FP, I don't have the same interest in the clothes.......odd, isn't it.

And I watched the beginning of the Oscars, and fell asleep. Have it on DVR, but don't know if I'll bother. In the part I saw, NPH didn't impress. There is something about him that annoys me, I don't know what it is, is he a bit smug or something? I never saw his sitcom.

I was glad to see that J K Simmons won. He has done such good work over the years in all those TV shows and is finally getting recognized. Always like him here there and everywhere. In recent days watched Birdman and Boyhood. I thought Birdman went off the rails about half way through, and the best performance in it was Edward Norton's. I loved Boyhood.

Oh, and of course these damn snobs omitted any mention of Joan Rivers, who revitalized the whole Oscar show. Would love to have seen her as a host. We see J Lo (looking tacky as usual) and we get a mention of Kenny Rogers, but no mention of Joan?

So, apparently the whole sound of music thing has become a racial issue for some, since Gaga "stole the thunder from the Glory singers?" Shonda's quote above, but twitter exploded about it before Shonda's tweet?

The song from Glory was one of my favorite moments from last night, they really were moving, and I loved it. I was impressed with Gaga for her version of the medley, but it made me remember Julie's clear as a bell high notes, and my favorite part was Julie Andrews coming on stage. It didn't occur to me that some might perceive it as "stealing the thunder."

Frankly, I wish they would just drop the whole endless musical performances, and most of the "jokes." I would have rather had longer speeches, and more movie clips, it's about the movies, and the damn songs got more time than the actors up for awards.

NPH really bombed, and the "star power" there last night was limited.

That was not okay. I mean, Idina is there. She is right there. RIGHT THERE. And oh dear God, Julie had to hear that. #Oscars2015

OH, shut up Shonda. Idina got the Super Bowl and she did not impress whatsoever.

I liked Gaga's performance, can't compare with Julie Andrews but who can? Now Jennifer Hudson made me mute my sound. The Glory performance was great.

I'm sick of the whole Hollywood production numbers; the whole show just goes on and on and on. Its not as if we are in the golden age of Hollywood musicals, then it might have made sense.

And speaking of golden ages of Hollywood, I am always dismayed that older actors are not remembered. If they are still alive give them a seat. The SAG awards honored Debbie Reynolds, and it was so nice to see her. There are loads of legends still alive that Oscar forgets, and gives J Lo a front seat. I miss Jack Nicholson in the front row.

NPH in his skivvies. Yes, I know it was a scene from Birdman, but it was not funny in the least.

You're right Mariah, big time Hollywood didn't show up at all last night.

Cajun you're hilarious.

How about them playing music over the two documentary winners as they are thanking the people that work at crisis centers and suicide hotlines? And then Jackass NPH coming on and saying, "Nice dress - takes a lot of balls to wear that!" to the woman whose daughter/son committed suicide?

Julie Andrews lost her voice, no? Didn't she have vocal chord surgery that went awry?

How about no black actors nominated but every presenter after 9 pm seemed to be black? We won't nominate you, but you can give out awards. SMH. Someone on CNN said it was almost as if the academy said, "Oh, we did that whole black thing last year..."

The Joan omission was a disgrace.

What happened to Reese Witherspoons head? Did someone pour a vat of Botox in it?

And Nicole Kidman either started eating or someone injected her butt with something. She looked like she actually had arms too.

Yeah, Julie Andrews lost her voice after a vocal surgeon screwed up while removing polyps I think. It never returned to normal. That was quite a while ago. She looked great. I love seeing that generation come back on the show.

Sad about Joan- because otherwise it was a well-done Tribute- I loved the Joan Didion quote Meryl started it with- I need to look it up- made me gasp. NPH is very flip sometimes. He did similar to Constantine as Tony host when he was nominated, before Neil ever had a nomination, and I find it disrespectful I liked him in 'Gone Girl' but I don't find him this theatrical Giant yet, I think maybe he gets accolades he doesn't quite deserve yet- and he believes them all. I loved Gaga- I couldn't believe it! John was right! LOL I didn't know she could really sing. Yes- I think Julie has said that she can't sing any more :(

A little sad that Michael Keaton didn't win- just for sentimental reason. Did you Guys know that Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore had a strange sex scene together in 'Savage Grace' in which they played Mother and Son?! based on a great book, though :)

Agree with you guys, on all of it.

I thought Nicole looked fantastic though.

Definitely trying to balance "whitest oscars ever" with so many black presenters. Lame.

I just don't give a shit about movies that are trying to "teach" me something. Fuck off with that shit. Entertain me. I could elaborate, but they mostly annoy me. So pretentious. Maybe I'm just old.

Most of these movies will be on TV before the year is out, since NO ONE IS GOING TO SEE THEM. Buy a vowel Hollywood. Why waste the money and put up with the hassle of going to a movie theater to see them?

So the problems with the Oscars are obvious to everyone, but they still care about ratings? If so, the fixes are pretty simple.

Can most of the jokes and routines.

Can the best song shit, I'd rather the time be devoted to the actual actors/directors/producers.

Show more and better movie clips, let them talk when they accept. Last night they stopped playing people off so fast, and we actually had some lovely moments for a change. HIGHLIGHT THE MOVIES jerks, that's why we are watching.

I think shorts and documentaries should probably stay, but only if they show meaningful clips.

Cinematography should probably stay.

Songs, editing, sound, score, etc. should all be in a separate broadcast. Let the true movie buffs watch that, along with all of the other technical awards they already give out separately. Hell, I might even watch that.

I watched the BAFTA's a week or so ago, so much better. Stephen Fry hosts. He has the perfect wry sense of humor for an occasion like that. He can also be OTT silly. They do no production numbers and do major awards only. I can't remember if there were any songs or not. It lasts two hours and ends on time. I prefer it. The same people won the major awards, I THINK.

I saw "Ida" :) The foreign film winner? Free on Netflix- very good. I like the movies no one else likes, Mariah- the little indies :) The Snowdon Documentary is on HBO tonight! Can't WAIT for the Scientology documentary.

That was another thing that really bugged me, I like knowing what the documentaries are about. All they gave was the name and producers/directors. No clips. Not even a sentence saying "_____ is about __________ and showed _______." Something.

I want to see the Scientology one too. They used to give longer clips in the old days, so you at least got a sense of the movie.

Melissa Rivers posted on Joan's Facebook and Twitter accounts:

Kathy Griffin is killing it on Fashion Police, Oscar edition. She's finding her rhythm.

I taped Fashion Police, haven't watched it with the new gang. So I'll give it a try today.

Times had a funny article about the actresses. They objected to the mani-cam, and so it was taken away. They mentioned actresses wanting to talk about serious topics, while on the payroll of the designer they are wearing................... Marion Cotillard for example, who is a spokesperson for Dior.............................I swear they are all hypocrites. I heard on some news show that prominent mention of a designer on the red carpet has been proven to increase the sales of their products. DUUUUH, they are going to miss Joan. I hope Kathy succeeds.

I watched Fashion Police. Just can't get into it without Joan, and I miss the other male that used to be on the show. Don't like Brad Goreski as much.

Rancic is scary thin, did you see her legs?

I agreed with them, Lada Gaga was best dressed. It was what the Oscars should be, a statement dress.

And Travolta really did look terrible, so waxen. The plastic face with the dyed black wig, just creepy.

Let Fallon do the show. Probably wouldn't have enough prep time due to the daily demands of his show.

They replaced the guy with Brad Goreski? I hate Brad Goreski, cry baby. The other guy was a better fit. I hope Kathy makes Brad cry.
