I didn't watch the show but I did see the dresses - lots of yellow and chartreuse. |

Momo, I feel the same way. Loved the dress, but not a big fan of yellow. |

Yes, that is it. I think it was fabulous to have the yellow only on the bottom. The dress was really too elegant, maybe too elegant for the Emmy's. I thought Julianne Moore looked weird with the long sleeves. Clare Danes' dress was OK. Never heard of the actress, I've probably seen her in a zillion things. |

Weaver.... she was in 40 Year Old Virgin (played the one that started to throw up as Steve Carrell was taking her home in the car) and she was in Knocked Up and played Kathryn Heigl's sister/Paul Rudd's wife. In real life she is the wife of Judd Apatow, and is in a lot of his movies. |

I did see 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked UP, but in general, I don't go to Apatow movies. |

Caught a few minutes of the talent portion of Miss America. No one is going to mistake Miss Tennessee for Adele. And the dancer who came next was also pretty bad. |

Oh... Miss America. Didn't watch, had to watch my Packers lose. But... Miss Wisconsin is from my hometown, was in my daughter's class, and was a diva. (Go figure).Like my daughter said, it wasn't like she was mean to her, it was just as if my daughter didn't exist. And it wasn't like my daughter was a wallflower... hello! She was Auntie Mame in their school play, in addition to many other things which I won't mention here because I don't want to be one of "those" moms ;) So, I was quite pleased that she wasn't even one of the 14 semi finalists. If only she were like Miss Wyoming, who once wrestled pigs for scholarship money! |

Wait, what? The Miss America pageant was on? Last night? I had no idea. And I can remember when this show was appointment TV for my mother and me, the first Saturday every September. Oh how the mighty have fallen. :o/ Perhaps it's a commentary on the role of pretty girls in our society, and how it's not all about looks? Probably not but I still hope that someday.....

Miss America is I remember correctly was much smarter than miss USA though. Miss USA was based solely on looks and miss America had to have talent or more. I watched both as well when I was a kiddo. So that Kenya was she miss USA oe America? She's ugly all around but I still want to know |

Kenya was Miss USA and pretty touchy about it too! Miss USA is now owned my Donald Trump. Blech. I don't know about now but waaaaay back in the day Miss America liked to try and distinguish itself as a "scholarship pagent" because the prize was a big college scholarship. Except usually the cost of competing pretty much kept out the girls that would actually need a scholarship.
