I haven't seen even ONE of these movies. I still love the Oscars though, the clothes, and learning more about the movies that will be on DVD soon and I may or may not buy. Most of them end up in the $5 bin within 2-4 years, and I pick them up then. Or if it's something I really want to see, paying for the DVD when it first comes out, or soon after.

I don't like movie theaters, and I DO like watching movies more than once, and seeing all the extras, for 1/2 the price of a movie ticket to sit and see them once, with people talking and spilling coke on me, and not being able to "pause" and go pee. ;)

I'm still pissed at the Oscars for completely ignoring the Harry Potter movies, which is such bullshit. For make up or tech or for the really amazing costuming/sets/cinematography. They did incredible work with the sets and special effects, even though the movies themselves were not Oscar quality. It's such a political situation with the voting and noms, but we still usually get a few funny or touching moments.

I hope you guys will be here to talk clothes!

Mariah I saw none of the movies either. I doubt I'll see most of them ever. I have no patience these days and I think movies have gone down hill and cable tv shows have become better.

Anyway - I will watch. Our director is the choreographer for the show. He's been gone for the last month working on it. I rarely watch those parts. I like the beginning and the end.

I hate that they changed the name from The Academy Awards to the Oscars officially. I guess I'm getting old and I don't like change like that for something so set in stone. I'm being silly but I'm still bummed.

I may see Argo. I actually met those guys (the real ones) in San Francisco one night. Both hostages and the Canadians that hid them. I'm trying to think of the name of the pub/restaurant/bar. They had the best hamburgers, and lots of other great pub food. Union Street, and google maps isn't helping me.

Anyway, this group came in and I was with my cute friend, and spotted their low-key security. They were having a GREAT time, and were a bit tipsy. Eventually one of the Canadian guys whispered to me who they were, and that they had promised themselves a night on the town, in SF, if they remained alive. So we stayed with them all night, at their invitation, bar hopping and enjoying the city. I heard a lot of stories that night, some scary stuff, but I really, REALLY liked all of them, both hostages and the guys who risked their lives to save them.

Oh, and they were also complete gentlemen, no icky moments or passes, they were just happy to have locals show them around, and were SO happy, lots of spontaneous hugging and "remember that night?" stuff. I should call my friend so I can remember the damn name of that pub! We got them back to their hotel around dawn, and they had a flight out the next morning, so they all decided to just go to breakfast and not even try to sleep. There were some tears here and there, and some terrifying stories, but mostly they were just thrilled to be doing what they had said they would do, during the bleak times.

ETA, the bar was Perry's. Posted Image

Wow! Brandi is on the Red Carpet on ABC! I thought she got one of those lesser red carpet gigs, on a minor channel.

Crappola, I was hoping more would be watching/posting.

Brandi's dress is horrid, although I love the red lip and the hair.

Oh, Miss Brandi, NO! I think sitting is also really tough with strapless, especially when it plunges between the breasts. (At least I now know what a $12K boob job looks like.)

Mariah, I saw 'Argo' - we (me and my non-movie-loving husband) liked it but thought the end was a bit too overly dramatized for a real-life, innately dramatic situation. How cool to meet the real people involved. I hope they've had smooth-sailing-type lives since then.

I should go read a review and see how much matched up with the stories they told me. Yeah, it was a very special night. They were SUCH nice people, and so happy to be there, and it was very emotional at times--a reunion. Just read the wiki on it, and I have to say, they told us NOTHING about the film producer plan, just the day to day stuff of hiding them and the perils of that. Ken Taylor was there though, just googled his photo.

That little girl's dog purse was too cutesy, but I loved her dress and hair. Brandi is sucking so far, but her lips look great.

I hope we see some colorful dresses this year! I am bored stiff with the flesh tones.

Looks like necklaces are out this year.

Good Oscar's fashion photos, and so far, I pretty much agree with most of the commentary.

Opinions on this one?

Stacy Kiebler is wearing that designer friend of Carole's on RHNY. She looks AMAZING. Nice dress. I'll try to find a photo, since it's from Carole's friend.

ETA, here it is.

Just came on to dish with you guys. I was on the phone with my daughter... I miss her during awards season (well, I ALWAYS miss her, but you know what I mean) because we would have our own Fashion Police and we had more fun watching the red carpet than the actual award shows.
Kristin Chenowith's voice...OMG... munchkin!
Brandi... just NO,NO, NO with that plunging neckline! I thought Jennifer Lawrence's dress was really pretty, and would make a lovely wedding dress, as did my daughter ( who is actually 5'11 so she could pull it off).
I thought Stacy K's dress was also lovely.
Renee Z is not looking so good.
And for the love of God and all that's holy... would Giuliana just eat a cheeseburger and fries?!

I haven't seen any of these movies; I just can't stand to spend so much $$ on movies when I know they will be on tv eventually. I don't care when I see them. Also, Mr. Disco is half deaf in one ear, so half the time he is trying to figure out what they are saying. So it's just better to wait until we can watch at home. Honestly, if I'm going to spend my money, I'd just as soon go see a comedy that probably isn't going to get nominated for anything!
That being said, I'm interested in seeing Argo. How cool, Mariah, to have that experience!

OK, so why the hell can't Clooney (and Pitt too, for that matter) shave his damn face so we can LOOK at it?!!!!!

All that gorgeousness and nobody can see it. Pity.

Stacy who?

Anne's dress was too wrinkly and gave her pointy boobs.

Seth is really funny.
