George Clooney didn't get to speak at all! Glad Ben had his moment though. Nice to win an Oscar after hitting bottom, and I think he's sweet, and I adore his wife.

This is interesting. Tomorrow I may try to find the rest of this interview with President Carter.

He's talking about Argo, and says that the Canadians really did much more than the CIA, and took the risks. Aw, that makes me happy, since I met so many of them, and as they got drunker, some of the fears they had from what they did came out, and the American's were giving them lots of hugs and tearful credit for their lives.

The "We saw your boobs" song, for those that missed it. The faces in the audience are the best part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOvjqnYOU_Y

Kristin Chenowith annoyed me to no end on the carpet last night. Pesky little gnat.

Adele looked sooo good when she was singing Skyfall. (Not so much on the carpet.) Her hair down and loose instead of the normal helmet head. And that dress that skimmed instead of poofed all over the place. Really beautiful face.

Yeah, Jen Aniston. I belong to a celebrity snark forum and they dog her relentlessly. I was the odd man out because I loved her on Friends and I like her casual, bohemian style. She just seems harmless. She does the projects she wants, will never be an award winner but makes good bank and spends a lot of her life on vacation. But as she gets older she seems to be taking herself FAR too seriously.

I thought her dress was too costumey for her. Then I wondered if she was trying to hid a thickening gut.

Her face looks a little too filled now too. I think her years of wearing sexy clothes are coming to an end, so she should take every chance she gets to wear one. I like her too in a general sense. I think the tabloids feast on the Jen/Angelina shit and the baby stuff, but I think JA is more concerned about where to get good weed.

I love Kristin Chenowith, but se was annoying as hell on the red carpet - the whole ABC crew was.

SO glad Ben Affleck won.I have a soft spot in my heart for him, and Jennifer Garner seems to do a great job making sure their kids have more or less normal lives.

Can't wit to see what Joan Rivers will say about Brandi's dress!
And Daniel Day-Lewis...surprised me with his snese of humor in his speech.

I thought Seth McFarlane did a great job and I hope he hosts again.

So, I don't really know why exactly, but Anne Hathaway bugs me the same way Taylor Swift does. I just don't like either one of them yet I don't really know WHY I don't like them.

Did you see that guy push Ben Affleck out of the way so he could speak for the group for best picture? What an asshole.
He wanted to praise Ben (re: directing Argo since Ben wasn't nominated for directing and couldn't praise himself, he said) Ben and Clooney together <3

Love you discomom, but I hate, hate, HATED Seth McFarland. Too many of his "jokes" were mysoginistic and I really don't like a person who laughs at his own jokes. There is a fine line at the Academy Awards for a host to toe; fun and a bit deprecating but not verging into Friar's Roast territory. The funny has to come with a foundation of respect and I think that was missing last night.

I gotta say, I'm with disco on this. I loved Seth and hope he hosts every year.

The awards are usually so boring. I actually enjoyed watching this year.

And it's not like it's those people are curing cancer...they could use a little ribbing.

I wish he was more cutting on those egomaniac actors.

Did anyone think that Jack Nicholson has gotten buffoonish in his little penguin suit.

Am I the only one who mutes my sound when Jennifer Hudson sings?

As for Seth, I was rolling on the floor laughing, but I thought his opening was way too long and even though funny, more appropriate for an SNL skit or another gig, like the Globes.

I still haven't watched the opening. I'll do that in a few minutes.

I love Jack and any AA or now the OSCARS without him to me makes me sad. He takes a shitload of valium before the show apparently. Can you imagine sitting there for so long? Not me.

The ratings were higher than last year however I love Billy and he can come back any time for me. Doubt he will though

Yeah, what happened to Jack in the last few years. He lost his place of honor in the front row, with all the closeups. Was he on the outs with those producers? I was so glad to see him back.

I always wanted Billy Crystal back, but when he came back, he did seem dated. Was that last year or two years ago, I forget. I remember the year of Anne Hathaway and James Franco, that was a disaster. I liked Hugh Jackman. THere really has been no one consistently wonderful since the old days of Billy Crystal.

My favorite look was Charlize Theron's. I thought it was spectacular. And I could watch that J'Adore commercial with her and Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe over and over and over. It was on most of the award shows, but wasn't on last night.

I love Jack. I fall asleep when I can't sleep by listening to his commentary on SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE when I can't sleep. I wish he would do books on tape.

BTW his acting commentary on that DVD is seriously amazing, informative, and interesting. Love him. There is another commentary that includes Diane Keaton for a while, and the things she says about acting are good too--but it's short.
