The Real Housewives of New York City Recap: Little Barn of Horrors

Quote:

The next day, all the ladies (minus Carole and Heather) reconvene for lunch at Sonja’s Borrowed House. Now, we all know that Sonja borrows her house. It’s one of the charming, down-to-earth things about Sonja Tremont Morgan of the Wilkes-Barre Morgans. But pointing it out is a little bit cruel. Just like we all know that Tom Cruise is short, but no magazine captions a photo “Notorious midget Tom Cruise …” No, because that is mean and also unnecessary, like calling them “assless chaps” when all chaps are built with no ass, so you don’t have to say that they’re assless because, duh, they’re assless. That’s like saying Sonja borrowed a house. It’s a cruel redundancy.

But no, Aviva was not there. She was upstate meeting an old friend. After 35 years, Becky Morgan – a woman whose name couldn’t be more innocuous if it was Sally Ofnoconsequence – sent Aviva an email saying that she wanted to see her so that they could have closure with the accident that caused Aviva to lose her foot. The run-up to this whole thing made me freaking crazy. “Anytime I’m afraid of things, I face them head on,” she says. What? Remember last season when they had to drug her up and give her a special soundtrack of Gloria Estefan (or something) just to get her on a plane? And remember when she had a panic attack because they were going to ride in an elevator? Please. The defining characteristic of Aviva Drescher is fear. Okay, fear and disingenuousness.

Quote:

Then Aviva goes out to the barn to see the actual mechanism that injured her. Becky seems more scared of it than Aviva, or more scared that Aviva is going to launch into some PTSD loop and go shoot up the town square or something. She does not. They watch the machine jolt into action, shimmying rods and chains around its circular track. Aviva stands there with her arms folded over, embracing herself or maybe just bracing herself as some of those snapshots from that day play out – the confusion, the rush to the hospital, waking up and feeling like she had forever changed. She thinks about the dark cavern of that barn that she saw so many nights lying awake in her bed, longing for what she lost and thinking about all the other awful things that will happen to her one day.

Becky finally flipped the switch, and the barn cleaner chugged to a halt. They could smell the hay and manure sitting on the floor. They could smell that pungent, fleshy smell that all livestock lets off. They could feel the heat in the air, baking traces of animal emissions and plant secretions into a soggy stew. Everything was just normal. It was just a farm. Aviva says, “In my mind it was a terrifying thing, but in reality it was just a barn.”

I love Brian Moylan.

Ramona's got great windows. I wonder if she is sanding the skank out of her apartment.

Oh my. Yes, friends, Aviva can be even more obnoxious.

Aviva Drescher
Aviva longs for the days when Housewives could just make up and when GhostGate wasn't a thing.

Carole was shocked, shocked (as shocked as here) that there were rumors about her book having been ghostwritten and that I would ask her about it, and contracted terminal vapors about how my query to her has destroyed her career. She fought back with mouth and guns blazing, even releasing her Diddy-certified, street wannabe, attack pit bull Heather on me. This was months ago. And we're still fighting. Really? The Capulets and Montagues were more forgiving. (Sorry, was that too Vassar? OK, make it the Jets and Sharks.)

She also accused Carole of "unleashing her minions" to write bad reviews for Aviva's book on Amazon.

What an insufferable bitch. Ramona (and to a lesser degree Sonja) declaring herself on team Aviva is the fakest thing about this show. I give Sonja a little bit of a pass because 1) I don't think she really cares one way or another and 2) she has her good relationship with Harry to think about.

I think Sonja IS thinking about Harry, not Aviva. But I suspect that comes to an end at some point, like when he goes off to fuck someone else … that's the rumor, right? or it was part of a preview?

Ramona's got great windows.
The bones of Ramona's apt are so good. The decor was pleasant but tired. I hope she's totally redoing it. The window treatments should go. But that they are tied up and out of the way doesn't bode well for their demise. Sonja took her old school, swaggy window treatments down in her kitchen and it made a world of difference. This is the kind of stuff I want to see. Im sick of Aviva and Heather.

Wow, she has great windows.

She does have the old style Park Avenue décor that I don't mind. I prefer a more modern look, but her home does look cozy and comfy.

Oh, and the luxury of resanding......I'd love to have mine done, but I'd have to move out for a few days, and then I'd still worry about all the little grains in the air. Nothing like a freshly sanded floor.

She is not on Park, but I notice all the establishing shots for her scenes are on Park.

I couldn't get the link to work.

She is further east, but I don't know where. I think she was even quoted as saying she wanted to live on Park, but couldn't find the apt they wanted. So they found this one, and it satisfied all her requirements and bought it. I always thought it was Lexington or Third, not sure.

Oh, that's weird. Yes, it was a vid and now it won't work for me either.

After viewing the video, it's no wonder I never noticed those amazing floor to ceiling windows. Every single one of them is obstructed by those heavy, heavy, drapes/swaggy valance things and/or a piece of furniture. Less is MORE, Ramona! There's got to be a better way get some privacy but not hide the view. What a great apartment.

Sonja's renting her townhouse.

Quote:

"Bankrupt Real Housewife of New York Sonja Morgan is so upset that Confidenti@l found out she's renting her E. 63rd St. townhouse, while planning to relocate to a more humble property nearby, that she's pleading her case to any downmarket tabloid that will listen...A recent bankruptcy claim and $7 million court judgment have forced her to temporarily rent out her pad for $25,000 a month while staving off bill collectors."

I'm sorry for her. I don't think Mr. Morgan should be able to marry and abandon women like that -- someone who really loved him, it seems, and who had a baby with him. OTOH, she was very ill-advised or didn't listen and made a huge error not using an LLC for that movie deal. I completely disagree with the judgement, too. Lots of ventures fail and people with the money pull out -- too bad, too sad, move on and get other investors.

I do also and I think she had a bad lawyer for the movie deal. It was a strange judgment. I think she got hammered. Things like that happen all the time. I want to know though if Sonja's townhouse is in such bad shape how can it be rented?

She got a townhouse on the UES and a villa in St Tropez and I'm sure all kid's expenses are paid. I guarantee she is off at boarding school, then she'll go to college. Morgan doesn't owe her any more. If she was dumb enough to lose $7mil, It's not Morgans problem.
