Weaver my mom always had us save our playbills, especially the ones by Hirschfeld. We would always look for the hidden names too. I am sure my father's wife threw them all out by now. She even got rid of my sister's wedding gown.
Oh, gee, what a shame. I always saved my Playbills, but when I moved into this apartment from a smaller one downstairs, I got rid of all that stuff. DUMB. I had loads of old Vogues, I used to save the ones that had great photo layouts, etc, and some historic New York Times. All gone. But I have clean storage space, and I guess that is more important.

Second wives don't usually have too much sentimental attachment to property of first family....... :P

Here's a paragraph about a 2011 auction of some of Hirschfeld's work. Prices are not too shabby.

A special section of the auction offers artwork by Al Hirschfeld from other collections. Highlights included a 1979 ink on board depiction of Dolly Parton, Barry Manilow, Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Diana Ross, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, and David Crosby that sold for $8,320 against an estimate of $4,000-6,000. A 1999 ink on board depiction of playwrights Margaret Edson, Christopher Durang, Patrick Marber, David Hare, Arthur Miller, John Guare, Connor Mcpherson, Martin Mcdonagh, Eugene O'Neill and Tennessee Williams achieved $5,000 within the estimate of $4,000-6,000. A 1983 etching of Marilyn Monroe in The Seven-Year Itch fetched $5,000, several times its estimate of $1,000-1,500.

I was thinking the same thing. Either that or she is laying off the pinot. It is hard to get rid of the pooch post 50. And she has been planking for years.

Jill and Bobby selling Hirschfeld's art for charity. Wonder what else they have in their collection? He was a caricaturist for B'way and for the New York Times for a zillion years. He always incorporated "nina," his daughter's name into his works. I'd always look to see if I could find the several Nina's in the Sunday paper.

CCC, remember there was a gallery of his on Madison? He was often in there. I used to go by a lot but was always a little too timid to go in. Wonder how much his stuff is worth, not a whole lot I assume, but not peanuts either.

Bobby is no dummy.

I remember but didn't go. I always wanted a Jerry Garcia print he did but I never bought it. If you didn't buy it right away it went up way in price. He was an icon here in NYC

I doubt she's laying off her wine. Perhaps she's eating less or exercising more - lol. It's her favorite past time.

Oh you purged! I can't seem to do that. I have so much stuff I was thinking about doing that when I move from here but I'm not going to. I'm going to pack them into boxes like I always do and transfer them to the next apt and toss them back into the cabinets or maybe send them to my parent's house to the basement. I can't part with that stuff including all my 9/11 papers. I should look thru my mom's playbills. Are some of them worth some money?

It's those weird push ups. My sister does them and whines about it all the time. I'm like if you're going to whine don't do them. I can't see the difference but I will say that I was officially told not to do them by my back dr. I love to say I have an excuse. They apparently work. Sure you can google and youtube an example.

The way I do them? Assume a push up position and then rest your weight on your forearms instead of your hands. Straight back all the way to your toes and just hold it as long as you can. tighten stomach - no sagging/no butt in the air.

What Mario and Ramona have done to their bodies is changed their diet, mainly. Those kinds of cuts don't come from exercise alone. I'd say it's 70% food choices and 30% exercise. Although she's going to bust a vein by sucking it in that hard, she looks really, really good. And it pains me to say, but so does he.

ETA: And I'll bet there's a little lipo thrown in there for both of them, too. His body from the neck down looks about 22. I wonder how long they can keep this up. That's a lot of work at that age. A lot.

I was just thinking that pic was probably a photo shopped couple in their 20s, lol. Damn, Ramona always looked pretty good but now she looks amazing.

I suspect some of them are worth something, but not too much. I'd just like to look at them for the memories, but of course I'd never do that anyway, they'd be in the closet somewhere. It feels so good to purge.......I've gotten rid of a lot of my fragrance collection in the last six months.
