My brother insisted on taking his kids to Disney when they were four. I thought it was too soon, they were too young. But add to that, my niece has a medical backpack, with a tube into her heart constantly pumping medications, so we were on a strict timetable of needing to be back in the hotel in time for new meds. The lines were obnoxious and we didn't know we could get special admittance because of her medical situation. So we got them on five rides total in the time we had and with the heat and the end of July ... it was very stupid. BUT we had a hotel that looked out over the park, we had the balcony rooms, and we were there for three nights so got to watch the fireworks three times in the comfort and air conditioning of the rooms. For me, that was the best part. I also bought them way too much stuff -- just loaded them down with Disney stuff ... they had a great time. Just not on rides. |

I know - it's worth it to buy a special pass and guide to get ahead of the lines - and if you have medical problems you can also do that. Did you see on the news this week that people were selling medical passes for Disney and they got caught? How disgusting is that? Both sides are gross - the ones purchasing them and the sellers. Dh and I are NOT Disney people at all. We took my daughter at 4.5 to EuroDisney since we were near there and it didn't require a separate trip. Just a train ride for the day. Really easy. She was fine at that age. I don't understand people taking 2 yos. and I mean 2 yo is their only child -no older children. I've been to all 3 parks and this was the best to me since you can buy beer and wine in the park. Some things you've gotta love the French for. I would take my kid on a Disney cruise if we had the money - they are really expensive. The rooms are large and there is tons of babysitting. That's it for me. I can't stand it. Btw if you have a timeshare elsewhere you can bank it and exchange for one in Orlando. I can't imagine going all the time. I'm Scrooge I guess. My kid watches Disney channel all the time. All she wants to be is a Disney kid. |

I hope you don't think I was knockin' the Disney nerds, Fin. We've been 7 times - my parents wintered in the Orlando area for a long time. Lil Rye loved Animal Kingdom. Once we tired of Disney et al, we discovered Sea World. LOVE. Then when we got really bored with the Orlando area, we once left my parent's house and flew out of Miami for Atlantis in the Bahamas for a couple days. What we spent on the puddle jumper to get there and 2 nights hotel, we would have spent on tickets/meals/souvenirs at Disney in 2 days! |

On 'Career Day' in kindergarten, (I know, kind of silly) I had many little girls who came dressed as Disney Princesses. At 5, of course, that's what they think they want to be but I had to give props to the parents that urged their daughters to dress up as teachers, business types, nurses... One little girl came as a waitress and I loved her costume because her dad had hot glue gunned a cup w/ lid and straw and a plate of fake food to a serving tray. It was cute. When we did the parade through all the grades, she was a fan favorite. Man, did this thread go way O/T or what?? :D Edited by ryebread, Jun 5 2013, 09:11 AM.

Lol Andme! Were they at the CFDA event with all the top fashion people? I was thinking about them last night when Simon said Jill was from Lawn Guyland and it showed and she spat back on film that he drank too much. Ah the essence of Jill. And then I thought about Alex's birthday ride from hell when, "The FUCKING surprise is ruined." |

LOL. Right? Here's the link I got it from. Notice how all the other partygoers are in 'normal' costumes? Usually at Halloween parties, women take the opportunity to flaunt their inner slut/sex kitten. None of the women at this particular event seem to have done so. Then there's Alex and Simon. His blindfold - did she have to lead him around all night? Feed him? So cutting edge! They're like a walking art installation. Edited by ryebread, Jun 5 2013, 10:22 AM.

Mine doesn't do dress up like she used to (she'll be 7 this month) although she has at least 8 princess costumes - mostly from gifts. She goes into my closet to take my shoes and and dresses without asking and runs them upon the dirty floor since she is the size of a 5 yo. It's that now that she does that acting thing she watches all the kids on Disney and is enamored. She looks them up on IMDB and recites to me all the stuff they have been in. I never should have shown her that site. I think she wishes she started at 2 and was the little girl who played good luck charlie. I'm so bored when she reads this stuff to me. I really don't listen. I guess at least she's reading and learning to pronounce proper nouns. Edited by cccharley, Jun 6 2013, 09:49 AM.

Righhhhht... ETA: FYI I don't read Fox news... this is actually posted on the Andy Cohen Fan Page (otherwise known as Andy's intern ;) ) |

She is so amazingly clueless. Sometimes I wonder how she puts on her shoes in the morning, although, I guess the fact that they don't have shoelaces really helps her out there. :P |
