I think it's a show about how they're doing now. That should be interesting. |

Did anyone watch the "Where are they now" special? I did. I think Melissa's husband is an ass. He thinks a quick, abject apology fixes everything even though he's a serial cheater. I'm surprised Melissa is still willing to be married to him. I hope that Ashley's mother has realized what a harridan she is because she's derailing her daughter's success. Unfortunately, it just seems like all the show taught her is what NOT to say on camera. |

I'm with ya, Momo. Melissa should have left that ass a long time ago. Always making himself the victim. For some reason, I'm not believing the guy in a wheelchair...who denies doing crystal meth. Ashley's mom seemed to think that the issues were resolved...but it looked like Ashley wasn't so sure. Was so happy for the dude who got married. |

Oy...they're doing "Where are they now" episodes. Saw the one with Penny last night. She's the asshole who had the surgery and then had her family bring a smorgasbord of fast food to her hospital bed. Then lied about it. She is now back home in Maryland, as big as ever. Still has the same wimpy husband who does everything for her. Literally everything, including taking care of her bathroom needs. She then has him bring food over to her poopy bed so that she can prepare food. Ugh.

I knew I would be livid again after watching Penny and I was. It's not even about food with her, it's all about control. She controls everything from her bed/toilet and whines and yells when she doesn't get her way. I want her husband to take that poor kid and run as far away as they can! At least start bringing healthy food home and wear some headphones so he can't hear her yell. What else is she going to do? Throw some of the stuff piled up on her shitty bed? I know it's mean to say this, but she won't last a whole lot longer and then her little boy can have a chance at a decent life. I found it incredibly ironic that her husband dressed as a prisoner on Halloween. That's exactly what he is. I was worried he was going to have a heart attack when he was pushing her around in her wheelchair. |

I have only watched a few of these and only recently, but it is amazing how enabling the families are. I can't remember anyone's names (menopause brain Yolanda not de Lymes!). I am going to try to catch this where are they now episode on repeat. Right now it's all snowmagedden 24/7 on our tv. |

Oh, Fin. Look for the Penny episode. ITA to your entire post, lovesnark. God, I wish that husband would tell her to get off her ass and do something. How long do you think she lasted with that therapist? |

I'm sure that skype session with the therapist was a one and done. You know Penny wouldn't put up with someone telling her the truth. Like how do you know you've lost 200 pounds if you haven't been on a scale in damn near 2 years? I looked at her twitter feed and she's claiming she's almost ready to have skin removal surgery. Not for another 400 pounds, you hateful, manipulative beast. I noticed a big scar on Edgar's head when he was at the grocery store. I wonder if he had a head injury and is a little on the slow side and that's why he won't stand up for himself? I hope some therapist reaches out to him and offers free therapy for him and their son. He's been taking care of that boy by himself since he was born and would do just fine if he could get the hell out of there. A therapist would reassure him that if he left, Penny wouldn't just lay there and die. She'd go to a nursing home and wouldn't get away with treating the staff like shit and would eat what they brought her. If she wanted something else, she'd have to get out of bed. He needs someone to un-brainwash him. On the flip side, I loved Tara's update. It was so wonderful to see her with lots of self esteem, happy and moving on with her life. I'm sure the editors laughed their asses off while putting this episode together. Tara is out shopping for new clothes, going on dates, working out with her daughter. Penny is even larger than she was before, still laying in her bed/toilet/food prep area, whining about everything and belittling her husband when he's trying to help get her beastly self into her wheelchair for her once every two months out of bed time. I laughed every time the screen said "Penny: Weight Unknown" |

Damn, how did I miss this show? I was watching one in the UK, same story. In every case there is an enabling husband or wife who bring all the food to the person lying in bed. I scream at the TV saying don't buy them the food. I also can never figure out how they afford it because the fat one can't work because he/she is fat and partner can't work because they have to slave all day waiting on the fat one. Going to look on my TV right now. Oh, I watched Penny/Tara. I despise that Penny, and her wimpy husband. How can he not say anything. When she directed him to 6 different grocery stores, and then didn't answer his phone calls, I wanted to scream at him. It never said if he worked or not. Its amazing how she manipulates everyone. BTW, how do these people have sex when they are at their top weight. Penny's kid isn't that old. Does hubby have a ten foot dong? Loved how Penny justified bringing as much money in as hubby by clipping her coupons. Edited by weaver, Jan 26 2015, 11:25 AM.

Weaver - make sure you watch the Penny episode! Poor Edgar. I'll bet you're right, lovesnark. Something does seem off about him. I can't fathom how he deals with taking care of that horrible woman. Does he have a job outside the home? That poor little boy is going to have a messed up view of reality. |

I love that the staple of Penny's grocery list is cake mix. |

From what I can gather, Edgar quit his job to take care of her. She claims they live off of a medical retirement disability check she gets from a lung infection she had in 2004. That's why she claims she needs oxygen, even though her oxygen saturation was perfect without it when she was in the hospital. Dr. Now said her oxygen saturation was better than his - lol! After her initial episode aired, there was a ton of backlash about what a waste of taxpayer money she is and she claimed that they have never been on the dole. That her disability check is from her former employer, not from SS. But, I would bet everything I own that they're getting maximum benefits from the state of Maryland. Housing assistance, food stamps, medicaid and Edgar most likely gets a monthly benefit for being her caretaker. Is there a SS benefit for children of disabled parents? If there is, you know she's getting it for their son. If that little boy wasn't part of the equation, I wouldn't give two shits. She could lay in her her own pee and poop and order Edgar around until her body finally just gives up. But, that child deserves so much better. It infuriates me that he's being forced to live like that. |

She got called out for that on FB and said it was for Liam's birthday. Someone pointed out to her that his birthday wasn't for several months. I can see her scooping dry cake mix out of the box with her dirty hands and eating it. Or, ordering Edgar to bring her a bowl and the ingredients, mixing it up and eating it with a giant spoon. Remember, this woman told us she used soda instead of milk on her cereal while she was in the hospital. When she and Liam were in her poopbed eating cereal, the bowls were huge. And, the gallon of milk was propped against one of her giant legs. I have a hunch that milk was there because she eats cereal by the box, not the bowl. |
