Agree CajunMama!

I watched it kind of by accident, but then it hooked me. Looks like others agreed, 7.5 million viewers or something was just announced on ET.

And the Backlash!

OMM will Continue to Fight ABC on 'GCB'

Starting with the good news, after tens of thousands of OMM members signed a petition several months ago encouraging ABC to drop all plans of airing the program "Good Christian B-tches," the network has announced they will change the name to "Good Christian Belles" and "GCB" for short. This means profanity will not be used or insinuated in the title and be listed in television guides, listings and schedules. Your voice was heard!

A Facebook campaign.

From Michael Farris: A protest against GCB on ABC

What would happen if ABC aired a program called GMB....Good Muslim B*****? There would be riots. But they feel quite comfortable aiming at Good Christian B****es.

Tonight, a television show is going to demonize Christians through a campy "comedy" by the creators of Sex in the City. Lest anyone doubt its sacreligious nature, read this quote from the official Facebook page for the show--from an official post by the staff of the show. It says: "Hey y'all! Cleavage helps your cross hang straight.” There is an accompanying photo that illustrates their suggestive point.

When Rush Limbaugh used foul and inappropriate language against a woman advancing the cause of the left, their constituency protested so loudly that he lost sponsors and had to apologize.

Are we going to allow our faith be ridiculed like this? Christian men, are you going to stand by and allow Christian women to be falsely portrayed like this?
We need to call our local ABC affiliates and protest. Send them emails. Send ABC emails.

If anyone has a list of the advertisers for this program, please post it. Otherwise I will post it later. We need to let the advertisers know that there are consequences for sponsoring these kinds of programs.

If you are willing to join me in protesting this show, please like this. Better yet, share it and help spread the word.

Gawd i so dislike those who can't take a show meant for entertainment at face value. Isn't OMM the same ones that protested something about jcpenny recently? And it didn't do them any good? Get a freaking life and learn how to be happy!

Kraft cream cheese is pulling out of sponsoring this. Jesh, unbunch your panties protesters!

Second episode was much better, it's growing on me. Love Annie Potts, and frankly, all of the cast on this one, men and women. The gay husband and their relationship is pretty touching really. And sad.

I have to begrudgingly agree with you, Mariah. The second episode was indeed much better than the first. I was set to really hate this show, and probably not watch, because it's kind of a reality show given how & where I grew up. lol

But it seems most of these characters really do have some character. The bedroom scene with the "half gay" married couple was poignant. And Annie Potts showing up at the end with her 20 friends for the luncheon at Boobielicious? Divine, absolute gold. Plus, anytime the writers get an opportunity to shove some crow down the throat of Kristin Chenoweth's character, can't be too much for me.

Love her, hate the character she plays because there are too many of those bitches running around in real life.

Oh yes: and Kraft cream cheese can suck it. Hard.

The cast just seems so perfect, and watching the "take down" lady sing Jesus Take the Wheel was so perfect.

Loved that the Boobylicious babes won out in the end too.

The whole high school part of it needed a little bit of something, the explanation of why her daughter wasn't put down wasn't quite enough somehow, or needed more punch. I wish they hadn't previewed with the cheerleader's boobs popping out, because that really would have been a LOL moment, if we hadn't already seen it in every damn ad for this show.

Haven't watched yet. I have the first 2 episodes taped. I thought the show was supposed to be a spoof/black comedy. Is it? I am hoping it is in no way religious except in a mocking way. Can anyone tell me before I put in 2 hours?

It's flat out comedy with a smidgeon of social commentary on southern society, specifically Texas. It takes a look at people who talk a lot about Christianity, and use church as a weapon, lots of self-righteousness and large dashes of hypocrisy, with touching moments in between.

It's not as dark as Desperate Housewives, but has a few similar moments, set in a completely different locale.

The 2nd episode is better than the first.

I'm becoming very fond of the tall brunette with the gay husband. AND the gay husband. I kind of love how they are doing this entire story line.

I was glad the tiny blond got put in her place, and I did kind of gasp when she got on the phone after her lover/trainer told her he was splitting for a new job with his girlfriend/wife, and just bought the place and told them to tear it down.

Don't mess with Texas.

Well crap. I'm so disappointed. ABC has cancelled GCB. I'm not a happy camper. They also cancelled PanAm which was another one of my favorites. I guess they need the money since NBC is suing ABC over Glass House being a knockoff of Big Brother.

It was the boycotts and protests more than the ratings that killed this charming show. Just google boycotts and GCB, more than a million hits come up.

Sucks.

Yes, it does suck. I really enjoyed this show in spite of myself. I come from this very same religious background. Well we were actually more Prairie Home Companion than GCB but two sides of the same coin nonetheless. Obviously I cut the cord decades ago, as soon as I could get out of that fucking nightmare. lolol I figured the Carlene character would be more than I could tolerate. But every one of those characters was written with such depth, such absolute humanity, I couldn't NOT enjoy this show. I'm so sorry ABC wasn't courageous enough to defy the protestors and fanatics. Sometimes I really do think this entire culture is pedaling slowly but steadily backwards. :o(

Well shit, I have 8 episodes on the DVR. Just heard it was cancelled after 10 episodes. Think the write-in campaigns will do anything?
