I think I still lust after living in NYC so much, I love every place they show ... some I would redecorate! ... but in LA, they all seem small or out of the way or stupid. Plus, I'm so annoyed by the one guy's lispy sort of speech. And I hate the guy who has stolen the lispy guy's assistant to be his girlfriend. Every time they play that "Heather threw a drink at me, uh!" promo I want to punch him in the mouth. And Josh! The one whose name I can remember, is ... odd and not entertaining.

You and me both! I gave up on MDL-LA a few seasons ago, around when they tried to trot out Josh's grandmom as "oh so sweet" Something about the broad didn't sit well with me. This is going to come so out of left field, but I'm gonna go there - I get an incredibly racisist vibe from her. I have zero proof, but something about her makes me think that when the cameras are off all kinds of racial slurs fly. Maybe it's the fact that she drapes herself in furs in the house. I dunno...lol

Anyways- I enjoyed MDL-NY so much that I'm giving LA a shot. I taped the last season and I'm gonna try and get through it today. Might be hard though, WE has a Bridezilla marathon WITH pop up snark w/ behind the scenes dish.

You have a stronger stomach than I do, Shopper. I can't watch those bride shows. I want to kill every last bitch for ruining what should be a joyous event. KILL! KILL! KILL!

Josh Altman, Josh Flagg and Madison, out of the three I like Madison the best.

Hey tee - remember when Madison was ambisexual...or something like that? And everyone else knew he was gay? WTF is up with this assistant? She seems a little ungrateful.

I think the NYC guys are trying too hard. I think they'll be better the second season.

Shopper - I like Josh's grandmother...but I'll bet she would cut a bitch.

andme, YOU always remember the good stuff! Yeah he was confused and didn't know if he wanted a girl or boy or a heshe....lol
About Madison's asst. I thought I liked her before she hooked up with Josh Altman, but not anymore. Madison should just fire her stat.
I watched the NY guys, and liked it, but I have to discuss it like 10 minutes after I watch or I forget.....duh...

I love Josh's grandmother.

Josh mispronounced Van Eyck and way underestimated the amount a Van Eyck would bring in in the marketplace (I think he said $2mil). I think the script was overestimating his knowledge of art. And I don't believe anyone keeps that kind of art in a rental, if it IS real that is.

The other Josh and Heather, is it true or scripted? Seems kinda fake to me.

Whatever happened to the Little Lord Fauntleroy character? He too pretended to be straight.

Is he the one who packed everything in separate ziploc bags (A good tip by the way - one I've started to use when I pack AND in my purse). I thought he was still on the show.

No, that was Chad Rogers who packed everything in Ziplocs. I enjoyed him a lot. But he was really smart and only stayed for two seasons, IIRC. The new Josh replaced him.

That scene with Heather in bed, waking up with Josh, was fakety-fake fake. She had full makeup! No one wakes up looking like that.

I love this show! So glad it's back.

The footage of Hurricane Sandy and the aftermath was amazing. It was actually reality TV.

I don't even remember Michael, who they replaced with Luis. I guess I didn't watch last season very closely. Ryan is such a jerk, still. I enjoy watching Fredrik.

I have tried to watch the premiere episode, but have been thwarted by a six-year old who needs help getting to sleep. Should have taped it ...

Anyway, what I saw I really enjoyed. I actually felt sad for Ryan, no family or friends to get with during Sandy. That Luis! I was kinda thrown by his asking for vodka on the rocks and really enjoying it ... it was odd, somehow. However, I think the doorman sending everyone to the 8th floor instead of to Ryan's open house was a producer play. No way. Just like the whole "Oh, I thought you worked here ... " Uh, sure. Bite me, Bravo -- these are so fucking obvious it takes from my enjoyment of the real estate porn.

Fredrick! Gotta laugh -- the only reason he didn't sell The Marble House in 30 days was because of the worst storm in history. What an ego.

I was amazed by the scenes downtown, too, Freely -- I wondered how Bravo got cameras in ... but I guess it wasn't blocked off, just everyone left. I thought that part of Manhattan was flooded. Shows what I know.

icy - last night was actually the 2nd episode.

I'm obsessed with trying to figure out how tall/short Louis is. he's not very refined. I noticed the cursing, but so far I enjoy the 'other slice.' Not saying he isn't successful, but he's clearly still hustling for every client and is the ambulance chaser of the Realtor world.

I didn't write clearly, but yes, I tried to watch it last week then again this week before the new episode. Saw the new episode, mostly, but still haven't seen all of the first episode. Might be ON DEMAND ... need to check.

I've found the first two shows very scripted, except for the Sandy footage. Ryan taking off his jacket and diving into the pool of the Swedish guy's listing, I don't think so. And the new guy, oh did you know he is Puerto Rican, is OTT. I preferred Lorber and his quiet approach.

I used to work in the building Ryan lives in. All those buildings were once office buildings. The ones by the river were badly flooded, but the ones a block or two away, like Ryan's, probably just had some water damage in the basement. He's at 20 Pine, from what I read in the paper. I find the FiDi very gloomy, wouldn't live there.

weaver, you know NY inside and out! Your anecdotes are fascinating.

I agree, the show is quite scripted. However, the reason I really enjoy it is because the true personalities of the guys come out. Fredrik is so very arrogant and cocky. Ryan is too, but doesn't wear it as well as Fredrik. I just saw a repeat with Michael and I don't miss him. I can take or leave Luis. Love that he messed with Ryan, though, no matter how scripted.

The other thing that fascinates me is the bravado of the rich who are putting their homes on the market. They really seem to think their places are worth all that (and many might be) and then Fredrik puts them in their place when he says 2.7 million instead of the 3.5 they wanted to ask.

The repeat I just watched from the first season featured a gorgeous home with a very expensive-looking chandelier. Fredrik called it "the spaghetti lamp." The owner was really taken aback. I love those moments.
