Write "spoiler" between the bracket tabs [ ] to start [/] to end. |

See Rosa young and Rosa old looked nothing alike to me. The accent appeared to be Eastern European, but the young actress looked Hispanic to me. Maybe I wasn't watching it closely. The Animal, the animal...bugs the shit outta me too. It also is very loud on my tv...does it do that for other folks too? I'm assuming good that I didn't spoiler this? |

Seems like there are enough spoiler tagged things in a row to let people know "go no further until you've seen them" … right? I thought she was obviously Spanish/Latin, but I wasn't sure if we were seeing scenes from old NYC. Would have to be for her to be incarcerated in NY state, I guess, but for what? How old was she supposed to be? We didn't get the connectors that made the story make sense. BUT they had so many story lines going on, one ball missing in the juggle doesn't slay me. |

You've got tiiiiiiiimmmmmmmme, you've got timmmmmme. The whole opening drives me nuts. I've seen that Lorraine Touissant everywhere. I think I saw her on Broadway. She is excellent, but I would have preferred an ongoing battle between her and Red and the kitchen person. They made her a bit too evil. |

Oh and the characters name was Rosa Cisneros, so I guess she was Hispanic. She was a wonderful actress, but she did have the accent all wrong. Her younger version was very Hispanic looking. I almost forgot what she did to be in prison, because I did not associate her younger self with her older self. They really neglected the track star this season. She's in a lot of scenes, but we get very little about her. |

OK glad I wasn't the only one confused by young vs old Rosa. So who did they mistakenly stab? I thought it was the track star but they didn't reference it in the following episode. Just that they messed up the attempt. |

They said it was someone unconnected to any of them, so some random black woman, I guess. Just her bad luck to be in that hallway just after Vee. |

I couldn't even remember that anyone had gotten stabbed! Guess I missed a bit. I was mulling over the characters in my mind and couldn't remember it at all. I read the Mary Steenbergen is going to be on next year's show, and they are already filming!! |

Finished it tonight. First of all, all the lesbian love scenes? Not in the book. She has no lesbian affairs that she tells about, she and Larry are still together; he sticks by her. Her ex is not in prison with her, but does show up in Chicago for a trial, where Piper testifies, but knows nothing and the guy, not the drug lord, is found guilty. Many of the characters on the show are in the book, but NONE of the black women. NOT A ONE. She mentions the black community there, but she doesn't have issues or deal with them and they have no stories -- except for the transgender, who is in the book, who is friends with her. Surprisingly, a lot of them get out, end their sentences while Piper is in. Including Red! There's the Yoga woman, the political activist nun, Pennsytucky, but she is a friend of Pipers and DOES have the teeth issue and DOES get new teeth … but basically, there's so little violence. The screwdriver missing from the shop? In the book. Pornstache? in the book, but none of that pregnancy stuff. The woman obsessed with her upcoming wedding? in the book, but not a crazy liar/stalker and NOT the driver of the van. It was a good read, but surprisingly tame compared to the series. Also, her prison time encompassed Martha Stewart's 4-month stint and in fact, she and MS were released on the same day, albeit in completely different places. The Danbury facility was impacted by MS's upcoming incarceration, basically trying to avoid getting her as a prisoner. So that was interesting. Piper's grandmother did die while she was imprisoned, but she asked for and was denied getting out to visit her or go to the funeral. She never was sent to SHU. There are some of the guards as in the series, but few. Like three that I can recall and they weren't much of a presence. ETA: The whole "Dress for success" thing is in the book and goes a lot like described on the show. Edited by IcyAll, Jul 7 2014, 02:34 AM.
