So there was no Laura Prepon character? She was my favorite.

Nope. There was a character that could be Lea Delaria and actually, she did have a lot of lesbian activity, but told as a "it went on a lot over THERE" but not as happening involving the writer at all, just that she knew about it and wondered why the girls were sleeping with the dyke since she was so large. But no "Alex" at all -- the real ex girlfriend was called Nora and she was only part of it as a past history and in the Chicago trial parts. Also, no one at Danbury knew that Piper had ever had lesbian affairs - she kept them 100% in the dark and turned down a few overtures. IRL they were all attached to Larry and even got on Piper when she had male guests come visit and seemed friendly with them.

That's another thing: she was not all alone up there, many, many friends came to see her, on both visiting days and they stayed for HOURS, which surprised me. Like 5 hour stretches for visits. Piper's mother and father IRL are divorced and came separately. The mother came often, again, surprised me. I guess on TV we need the mother to be vague and distanced.

I guess the real story wasn't as interesting as OITNB. Thanks for the back story.

Very funny -- a hoax saying the show was cancelled went viral yesterday and today: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/dont-worry-orange-is-the-new-black-has-not-been-cancelled--it-was-a-hoax-9602673.html

A friend of mine who has a radio show in NYC interviewed Laverne Cox last night. He posted on FB in a panic because he doesn't watch the show and didn't know anything about her. I told him a bit, but suggested he watch the show via YouTube if necessary.

It's back. I watched the first episode this AM, and it seemed as good as ever.

I've watched the first two. Not so happy with the major romance … I've read the book, so I don't like the difference.

I got a little tired of it during the third epi. I went back to watching early seasons of Doc Martin!

Well, I'm not glued to it as in previous seasons. So there's that.

Finished the third episode. I couldn't beleive they took Nicky away. I love her character. The actress is so good.

I watched two more episodes. It just isn't gripping me at all the way the other two seasons did. There seems to be no underlying theme of the season, except the takeover. And the ones I consider the main characters (can't remember their names which is telling) hardly have a part, and what little they have is boring. Many of the actresses seem to be OTT in their acting this year.

I like Red and the kitchen woman. I still miss Nicky.

So what happened to Daya's guard boyfriend. Does he return at all?

Did you see Mary Steenburgen? Her face....................oh, and Blair Brown, HER FACE............what do they do to themselves.

I finished the series the other day and ended up liking it a lot. Not as good as season one and two, but it got better as it progressed through the episodes. I am very disappointed why they never mentioned what happened to Daya's baby's father and that Nikki never returned.

Hated the new Aussie actress, and was disappointed Prepon didn't have a bigger part, but loved most of the others, Flaca and BooBoo and Piscatawny (sp?), Sophia, and the kitchen woman were all excellent. Oh, I like Caputo too. Good actor. So I'll watch a season 4 definitely.

I didn't really like that last scene with all the newbies coming in. I hope it just meant business as usual at the prison and not that there will be a new cast of characters. Oh the cooking lady will be interesting (Paula Deen, I guess).

I thought the cooking lady/homestyle lady was a nod to Martha Stewart -- because MS went to Alderson.

I was touched by the girl who wanted to be Jewish and got her bathing at the end.

I guess it was Martha Stewart but the Southern accent and the cloying sweetness reminded me of Paula Deen. Whatever, she'll take over the kitchen I guess and Red will be unhappy.

I'll watch season 4.
