Welcome to part 1 of my homebrew dev series. Throughout I will be discussing the current method for playing homebrew and how to get started with homebrew development. Requirements to play: As with any homebrew scene your console must meet certain requirements to be eligible for use. These requirements typically include a modchip. However, due to the discovery by the Twiizers team just about anyone can participate in Wii homebrew. To begin you will need these items: -Wii -SD card, formatted in FAT16 (typically referred to as FAT by most versions of Windows OS) -A copy of Twilight Princess, that has been run at least once on aforementioned Wii -A PC with SD capabilities (I use a digital camera to access my SD )-Twilight Hack save files Copying the hacked save file: After you have obtained what is required then you will need to copy the correct Twilight Hack save file from your PC to your Wii. There are five versions for various regions and pressings. To determine which save to use you will need to compare the number on the clear inner part of your disc with the table below:
Now that you know which save to use create this directory on your SD card, "/private/wii/title/RZDx/", with x replaced by P/J/E according to the table above. Copy your save to it and rename the save to "data.bin". Move the SD card from your PC to the Wii and copy the save over. You are now ready to run homebrew. In the next tutorial I will talk about how to copy and play a compiled homebrew game. |
