What is the Guild's view on the Particle Collider?

Death? No Death? Discuss.

I personally find it extremely hard to believe that something 17 miles long can replicate the conditions, even, of the beginning stages of the universe. Even then, I believe we're wrong about how the universe was created. We don't even exactly know our own Earth well enough yet.

What the particle collider, I believe, is capable of, should not be feared.
Seventeen Miles, or however many Kilometers, simply cannot replicate the universe.
It simply can't replicate the elements that were present that we can't even comprehend because our Earth nor it's galaxy possesses them.

There are different things out there.
Things that would scare us.
Things that would intrigue us.
Planets full of Gold. Full of silver. Definitely planets with materials more precious than we could comprehend.
If this collider comes close to being even capable of replicating the gasses we've never experienced before, then it might have some chance.
I say the whole damn thing implodes under the uncertainty of the project before it 'shoots off'.

The world won't end until December 12, 2012, anyhow.

Pretty sure its Dec 21. Anyways, it would make one hell of a weapon. Have you seen what they use to stop particles if they don't collide them? Its a massive block of carbon surrounded by concrete.

It won't destroy the world. It's not designed to make the universe as it was back when the Big Bang kicked off, it's just there to create various simulations and conditions similar to what it was like to test out physics theories. Part of this research flows into everything else, from star formation to planet formation.

Plus the entire Aztec/Myan/Soldant calendar theory thing about the world ending on "date" is all nonsense. Their calendar just stops, and people can't decide if it's supposed to reset, or go up higher, or what.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll make it through this one.
As a side note, I've decided to always disbelieve doom and world ending stories. The time the world ends, no one will be around to say 'told you so!', but every other time, I will be right.
Back on topic of the LHC, have all of you seen the webcams they have up?
Here is a link to a couple of the web cams. I was surprised when I saw they were offering 24/7 live feeds of whats going on. I would have thought it would be more like a top-secret experiment and no one would be able to look.

This disgusts me.
Starbucks wonders why it's going under. News flash:
YOUR COFFEE IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN GASOLINE!

How to save Starbucks without Breakfast:
Create 5 "Value" blends. Basic coffees, mid-grade beans, in the standard "Grande" size.
Offer them for $1 each.
They won't be as good as the high-dollar blends, but they'll still sell, damnit.
It still will give customers the, "ZOMG u must be rich u drink Starbucks" feel, but they won't be so hesitant to throw money at the gluttonous conglomerate.

This is a world where fewer and fewer can afford luxuries. At $4 a pop, it's too cheap for the extremely rich, and it's too much for the lower-middle class ('average' American).

Starbucks doesn't need fucking Breakfast. Leave that to Bob Evans or Roy Rogers or some shit.
Let me take control. Starbucks will have a bigger revenue than half the fat fucks that drink it.

Not worth $3 a cup.
When you get a job and go to college, quickly, you tend to find out that $3 for a cup of coffee more than once a paycheck is way too much. $1 a cup is much, much more reasonable.

I think it's worth $3 of cup for the type of coffee they sell. Personally, I don't think starbucks is the kind of drink you get every morning, anyway. It's more of a treat
Eh.

Right, and that's why it's starting to buckle.
The economy is faltering, and it just isn't sufficient to treat yourself to that $3 coffee anymore.
Starbucks has made enough off of inflation of their coffee. Isn't it time they say, "Okay, our product shouldn't be a luxury item. We need to sell more, so we'll just buy more and get it for less, and sell it a dollar or two cheaper"

That's how the world works. Adapt to what you're given or gtfo. Tits not involved.

Paint your ambulance like the A-Team van. Then dress as Hannibal or Faceman. Post pictures, and video if you are daring enough to powerslide into the front yard of someone calling for bullshit symptoms.

Speaking of which, did you know they're making a new movie? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0429493/
