Does the game suffer from what I've deemed "Action movie syndrome"? Especially the horribly inaccurate portrayal of 9mm going through a wall+hard wood furniture or multiple walls (the kind with drywall, slats, studs/insulation,more slats, and more drywall) but 12ga slugs getting stopped in couches.

Actually, no.
When you shoot a bed with anything, feathers fly out in a manner that feels realistic.
the destructible environment will pretty much tear apart with each gun. The pistol, for instance, will take you forever to completely "do-in" a table, whereas the MG42 rips it to smithereens like it's nobody's business. Unfortunately, BiA hasn't followed in CoD's footsteps where it really should have. For instance, you'll see a German shadow in the doorway. You know he's waiting for you behind that door. In CoD, you could just shoot up the wall where he was, and he'd fall into the doorway, dead. That's one thing I wish BiA incorporated which would make it 100% more realistic.
I think the shooting through walls CoD incorporated was probably the best innovation I've seen in a war game (on Xbox 360)- And I know it's probably been done in other games, but CoD is my first experience with it.

One of the greatest points of praise of Hell's Highway is their particle system. For instance, in the slowdown shots, things will come apart piece by piece, and for the most part don't look like flat, generic, bits of texture. What's amazing is the Bazooka team blowing shit up. I've torn up a few towns thanks to Jasper and his friend "Stella".

Hell's Highway does do a lot of small, insignificant things wrong. It won't change your perception of gaming by any means, but the graphics in the cinematics are unbelievably realistic. (I can imagine that PS3 is probably the best for this, because of having Blu-Ray, and the textures will probably load faster if you make use of that pre-loading thing that PS3 utilizes)

Were you ever, by chance, at Ogrish.com back when it was still there, Soldant?
Yep. Doesn't mean that all portrayals were actually real. You might not have a rib cage down there, but you're by no means paper-thin either.

I'd like to see anti-realistic games come back someday. Especially where grenades work like this.

EDIT
I just realized, my avatar looks like a guy I went to school with. I don't think its him though.

What do you do with a 45-foot, stinking "hwhale"? That is a "hwhale" of a problem.

I finished Hell's Highway today. The latter few levels felt like a WWII game.
The psyche of the game is wrenching. It's all put together much like a movie.
One thing I noticed was that, unlike most WWII games, it's not just throwing billions of Nazis at you.
It was probably the best WWII game I've played so far. When Gearbox finishes Halo 4, I expect them to come out with an even cooler sequel to this game. It's alluded to throughout the whole plot line.
