Nithgar was an uninhabited planet before the Tahrui established a distant meditation sanctuary at its pole. Given its remote location nearing the Dead Zone it was the ideal place to meditate upon silence and isolation. When a colony of humans fleeing the borders of the Dead Zone landed there, the Tahrui welcomed them as they would any peaceful race.

Initially hesitant to share the planet with the colonists, the Tahrui and humans settled on a mutually beneficial agreement: the humans access the planet’s energy source and in exchange the peaceful Tahrui gain protection provided by the humans. While this military is not very impressive, it is enough to have afforded the Tahrui enough security to establish a second sanctuary at Nithgar’s other pole. The humans are allowed to inhabit the majority of the planet, save for a radius of 1000 miles around each pole. This insures absolute isolation at the sanctuaries. Strict environmental and immigration regulations have been established to ensure the pristine nature of the Nithgar for the Tahrui.

The planet’s primary energy source are crystalline geologic structures dotting the entire planet. The crystals efficiently harness cosmic energy and provide abundant clean energy. Unfortunatly, Nithgar crystals do not function when removed from the planet, though they are still considered very beautiful by galactic jewelers.

Uu, a giant gas planet in the Nithgar system, is home to several species of atmospheric beasts. Many have the appearance of giant jellyfish or broad finned shapes like sun fish with many wispy tentacle dangling from them. Their bodies are hardly more dense than the thick gas that surrounds them, allowing them to swim through the air. The gasses provide very little nourishment. They obtain almost all of their energy from the constant lightning storms on the planet. They are not only able to survive frequent lightning strikes, they feed off the electricity.

Ckthrrgnz is the largest moon of Uu. The entire surface is covered with ice 500 miles thick. The gravitational field around the planet causes the moon to expand and contract in the course of its elliptical orbit. This generates extreme seismic activity on the moon. The core is super heated and melts the ice, creating a vast sea under the thick ice. Life has evolved in this tenebrous environment, even some intelligent life. Very few explorers have been able to penetrate the ice and study the strange creatures underneath.

The dominate species on Ckthrrgnz are roughly jellyfish-like creatures called the Dihnbl. They have large eyes and are bio-luminescent. Their dwellings are made in the natural coral. They have a very simple society and are not generally aware of anything at all outside of their ocean home.
