Far Cry 2 on xbox360 is £17.99 at Play today only

http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/8229054/Far-Cry-2/Product.html

I'd suggest it's that price for very good reason :D
Mate - at £18 it'd have to be pretty catastrophically awful and/or broken for me to think it wasn't worth it!

They had some user-made levels on Playr on Sunday and it looked pretty interesting too.

I take your point mate, but in my opinion the game is fundamentally broken.

The idea of an open-word FPS is intriguing, but ultimately ruined when you realise you have to travel huge distances between objectives whilst being atacked every 5 minutes by armed assailants, most of which have respawned from an earlier encounter.

You know it's time to stop playing when taking the bus in-game is prefferable to driving (probably about an hour or two in).

Great concept, rubbish execution, not worth £18.

I'm never preordering a game again - they seem to drop in price so quickly in the run-up to Christmas.

Fallout 3 is only £19.99 for the standard and £24.99 for the luncbox collectors' edition at Gamestation from tomorrow (although some stores have dropped the price early).

EDIT: The standard edition is already reduced online too.

Tomb Raider Underworld is £24-odd for both the collectors' and standard editions from Game and Gameplay.

Fable 2 has been selling in the Norwich Gamestation for £20 this week, I forgot to give the heads up yesterday... Guessing that's until Fallout's price is reduced.

Not games, but machines

Asda - Arcade 360 £97 - DSi £127. Great prices for both there, although less so for the DSi which seems overpriced for what it actually is.

If anyone lives near one TOYSrUS are doing COD:MW2 for £39.99. I didn't know they were still in business but if I can save a fiver on the most expensive game this year then I'm happy!

OK, don't shoot the messenger if this turns out be be fake, but the BIG rumour doing the rounds today is that Sainsbury's will be selling Modern Warfare 2 on 360 & PS3 for £26 on Tuesday. Limited to one per customer.

Worth checking the press on Monday for details.

I've just been on another forum and seen a receipt posted proving that Sainsbury's price (some store in London that sold it early) - but apparently Asda and Tesco and going to be pretty much the same price. Can't see the likes of Gamestation etc doing a price match on that one.

Shame you can't bloody pre-order at supermarkets though. Don't fancy queuing up at 8am just to buy a game I am only interested in for single player.

First thing my girlfriend said was "doesn't he buy really boring things?"

I tried to get my copy from Sainsburys last week but was annoyed to hear they don't pre-order...ah well at least I've definitely got a copy, don't have to drive all over town for one and didn't spend £45. Well done to those who beat the ten year old kids off (not literally-you should be ashamed!) to those copies on release day/earlier.

But why would the Supermarkets sell an item that will fly off the shelves at nearly half price? I'm no marketeer, but it makes no sense.

Also don't receipts have the local store address on them and not their head office (Sainsburys are in Holborn).

Meh, I'm just cynical in my old age. If it's true, fair play to anyone that bags a copy at that price.

There's a Sainsbury's store opposite Holborn tube station so it might be genuine - although why's he taken it back for a refund (or did the store realise their mistake)?

The guy took the game to the counter and was charged, but while someone was off getting the actual game (they only display blank cases) they realised it shouldn't be sold yet and had to refund him his money. There are a few people on HotUkdeals mentioning they work for Sainsbury's and that at the moment, £26 is the price on their computers. But as they did point out, it may well change if it is an admin error. I bloody hope not though as I'll be queuing up in the blood freezing cold. I did try again today to bag myself a pre-order in the local store, but the lad was having none of it. He did give a knowing smile though when I asked if it was going to be £26.

Oh and Indie, it is called a loss leader. Sell stuff like this cheap, and hope people do their shopping whole picking it up. Obviously works as the supermarkets do this all the time.

Yeah with alcohol maybe but I don't think this one really fits the mould because:

1) Each store will only have about 1 1/2 copies and no fucker will know when they will get any more in again.

2) It's a video game. As much as we'd like to think we're not that popular yet

3) It's an 18 certificate PS3/360 game, so it's not even as if kids can make their parents go get it a la all the bollocks wii games about owning a horsey stable or wanking off donkeys at the olympics

4) I went to Toys r Us to buy my copy of MW2 as soon as I heard about it, and went no further than the customer service desk. If you wanted MW2 would you wait until weekly shop day to go and then walk around buying mushrooms and bread for the next hour? Unlikely. I'd go in just as the store opens, beat the kids out the way, get the game and bugger off back home on launch day. Most customers who have gone there for shopping will only spot the price as they're walking around.

5) Did they sell GTA or Halo 3 at £25 even though they knew it was going to be massive? Nope.

Got to be an error. Loss leading for this product makes no sense.
