Me too Dunc, although mine may not come until tomorrow or Monday... DC, now the save game/game cache is created on your HDD, I wonder whether it will run ok on your home 360? I'm on PAL launch 360, and aside from the odd lock up (none for a few months now mind), no problems as yet. |

Could be the creation of the disc cache files that are the problem rather than the save game. Odd still. |

Haven't received mine from HMV yet - the added "excitement" of whether or not it will work is grrrreat. |

OK, so check this out. As reported above I had problems with my Xbox HDD, but not my Xbox HDD on my works Xbox. I played the game at lunch today, and saved it a couple of times and it was fine. No issues. I am now at home, and I booted the game up as normal, chose 72hr mode (which of course is my save from earlier), and it loaded perfectly. This tells me: - My Xbox 360 is fine - My Xbox 360 HDD is fine - The game has a bug in it regarding certain HDD/360 combinations. How odd! So, if you get the problem, try and take your 360 HDD round to a friends, play for a bit, save, then go home and it should be ok! Random or what!?! |

Can you start another new game?
Actually, no, don't do that...I have a theory - namely that this is a disc error of sorts. If there's a bunch of discs out there with data corruptions on them in the sectors where data is being held for game start up caching, than a DDE would appear on the first start. However, as (I believe) there are a few different makes of DVD drives out there in 360s, it may be that you have one that isn't patient enough to pile through the dodgy data enough to get up and running. Whereas your work ones are different model DVD drives that are able to make it through. Complete theory, and boring as fuck, but I needed to post something. I'm still at work. Boo. |

Jocky, yup I think that is exactly what the problem is (DVD drive). The DVD drive in the one at work I used is different to mine at home. I am guessing the issue lies there. I'd also really like to try another copy of the game at some point because your theory sounds fully possible with that too. Oh btw, you can't do a "start new game" in Dead Rising. You'll see what I mean when you begin to play, but basically there is like one main system file which keeps your character stats, and that is used each time you play. You can't have one save half way through the game, then start another. More than slightly annoying that tbh, espeically if you screw up. Annnnnnyway I am blabbering now, at least I can play the damn game now. |

I have to admit I was about to give up on this game within half an hour of playing it last night. I was stuck on the "taking photos of the other photograhpher" mission, and it just wasn't going right. I was regularly getting 700+ points on each of his poses, but it just seemed really frustrating. I got there in the end though but it took ages! I think the initial PC Gaming like issues I had with this game really destroyed my happiness and I was ready to throw it away onto the shelf of The Forgotten. Both MS and Capcom should be slapped very hard in the face for having compat issues with a damn videogame. On top of this, I was getting completley overwhelmed with all the requirements; answer this call, that call, mix food, rescue this person, find the save spot, take photos, bring people back to the security room, kill boss, find weapons, do all the case files and help everyone whaaaaaaa my headed is hurting!!! Then someone mentioned that really you don't need to worry about half of it, and just concentrate on the Case Files, Leveling and generally having a laugh. Rescue people on the next play through, or the one after that.. That kinda changed my opinion on the game completley, because now you can play it like the demo really, having a laugh leveling up, but also doing the main missions and exploring the vast mall (and its service tunnel - much awesomeness!). The save system pissed me off at first, but now I really like it, and I think it works well. Its challenging, sure, but it works and if you die its no great shakes. I must of restarted about 10 times last night, but as you keep your stats, pink dresses and alien masks, AND you can skip cutscenes AND the loading is sped up due to caching, it doesn't really matter. It's bizarre but I am happy its like that. Sooo basically I love it. A lot. The amount of zombies on screen is staggering at times, and there are many unique ones, it really shows what can be done with next-generation hardware, and this is on the first games to really show it. Outstanding stuff. The detail is amazing within the shops and outside, and even more so on the characeters faces and their skin. I don't have any issues with the controls of Frank, the aiming or the camera either, I think they did well in what is a tricky setup to achieve. It has some frustratons, like when you're shot and you freeze up for a bit, and when you're trying to eat/drink and you keep getting attacked because you're are vunerable for so long - they're annoyances that should of really been ironed out early on in the development. I also think the game is too dark at night. Sure, the mall would be dark, but that is crazy ass dark!! Dead Rising is very unique in its game style. It reminded me of Grand Theft Auto with its open ended gameplay, but it also has this linear story path you have to follow and play through to complete the game. You can't just dick around in the park forever (well maybe in infinite mode you can ;)). I think once people get into Capcoms way of thinking about the save/stats system, and the vast amount of stuff to do meaning it will require multiple play throughs, then you'll fall in love with it and enjoy every violent minute of it. |

Im really loving DR even after playing the demo 10 times its still fun just hacking those zombies down. Im finding it annoying having to run to the same safe point all the time tho. Cool game, favorite weapon so far is....... a earth drill thing (cant remember actural name of it but its spectacular) |
