retaining my finger on the pulse of the bleeding edge of gaming.. Playing "The secret of monkey island" on my GP2X and loving it. Missed this first time around on the PC, only played Full Throttle on the Lucas Arts stuff. |

Since i recently put my PSP back down to firmware 1.5, then back to the special 3.03 OE-C firmware i've been homebrewing again. Specifically i've been playing: Cannon Fodder - still a great laugh. |

Call of Duty 3 Right at the end of the game now, and although the game was just missing a little something that CoD2 had, it grew on me as I played it. I actually think that the better characterisation of some of the NPC's drew me into the game, and the game has probably one of my favourite dramatic moments ever - the end of the second Polish tanker level when you're defending the hill, fighting for your and millions of other lives. When the green smoke drops in signalling the arrival of the Canadians it nearly bought a tear to my eye. Maybe it's just because I'm playing it on Veteran... |

Zelda: Twilight Princess. Just got a Wii (was a early Valentines pressie ... ahhhh). Put about and hour and a half in so far and the jury is out. Not very fast paced but lots of orientation mini missions to be done. Taking some time to get used to the Wii remote and nunchuck but works quite well! I know its basically a Gamecube game but the graphics are okay, saved only by the art direction. Can't say I notice any difference using a component video interconnect on my HD TV. Will report back later! |

Day of the tentacle is on the list, along with many others. There are a few quite unique homebrew titles on there too:- Spout - eye bleedingly awful graphics, but simple addictive gameplay. Blingo - a cross between a slot machine and bingo Tilematch - Like Nintendo's zoo keeper and now a little something I'm working on myself.... watch this space... :ph43r: |

I'm still plodding through this on the Wii. I'm enjoying it now I've got the hang of the controls (although I'm still having some out of control moments), but not as much as COD 2. It doesn't look as nice as the 360 version, of course, but it still has bags of atmosphere. One odd thing, though, is that, if you die on a mission, you quite often end up playing a different level when you restart. For example, after the first jeep level, you meet up with the French resistance outside a house and go straight into a mission where you have to take out some artillery guns. However, if you die on that mission, you end up back at the front of the house and have to fight your way through it (including some hand to hand combat) to get to a barn to meet up with some different resistance fighters. It's only then that you get another go at the artillery mission. Is that the same on the 360 version? Have also been playing: Field Commander (PSP) A shameless copy of Advance Wars, right down to the fog of war and the ability to earn special attacks by building up a meter. Although it doesn't have the charm of Advance Wars (the characters are all faceless American military types), I think I prefer it because of the 3D graphics. Star Fox Command (DS) Nice game, although not as easy as some reviews make out because of the strategy bits where you have limited turns to clear the whole map, and the limited time you have to clear all the flight missions on each map. Great controls, though and the graphics aren't half bad either. Lost Planet - Extreme Condition (360) Have to echo 4thie's thoughts on this one - this is a sublime game. Maybe not as graphically amazing as Gears of War - although there's more variety and the explosions are truly awesome - but the story is more interesting. I like the fact that, if you don't care about getting all the achievements, you don't have to fight all the bosses. |

Zelda: Twilight Princess This game is awesome! First Zelda game I've ever played (honestly) and enjoying every minute. It has more charm than Leslie Phillips and just looks stunning even though it's obviously no technical visual achievement like Gears of War and such like. And it's huge! I'm over 7 hours in and have only just beaten the first big boss. Allegedly another 53 hours to go before it's completed Playing Link as the Wolf is also a nice touch. And there is so much going on and little things that make this the game that it is. Fishing, howling, scent trials ... the list is endless. The only gripes I have and to be honest they're minor, is the music and sound is rather dated (but some may prefer this), a standard controller may have been better as I don't think the Wii remote and nunchuck adds much to this game. And finally automatic jumping - seems odd to me and feel this restricts a bit. |

Resistance: Fall of Man Some really nice stuff in this game. The feel is more TimeSplitters than a tactical shooter, not that you can run and gun it without getting butchered, but more a run-burst-cover sort of gameplay? Atmosphere is nice, some bits are FEAR/Quake4 with you alone, your gun and a torch (which you can leave always on and never runs out, thank fuck!) and just waiting to be jumped while shooting at shadows, other bits Call of Dutyish with dozens of guys slugging it out and explosions and shit everywhere. Cant help but wonder how much better it would have been if it wasnt a launch title (just a few minor niggles), but liking it more and more each time i play. |

Final Fantasy XII I didn't think much of the last single player FF game but I'd heard reasonably good things about this one so I took the plunge. It's all very 'Star Wars-y', the empire, sand planets, airships etc. Lucas has clearly been an influence. The fighting system is odd but it has grown on me the further I've gotten into the game. I'm not sure I prefer it to the turn-based of old but the lack of random battles is welcome and the Gambit system is useful. The voice acting is ok but the lead does have a typically whiney American voice and the often stilted dialogue does annoy but overall not a bad effort. Worth a punt if you can spare the time needed to appreciate games like this. |

Had! And good fun it was. Got a bit annoying at stages with the to-ing and fro-ing between the time zones sending things back a forth (often needlessly..) Loved the art style though. |
