I tried Darksiders 1 on the PS3 and despite a mate of mine praising it to high heaven, and saying it was basically Zelda (it really doesn't feel like that to me) I'm just not feeling it at all. I found this first one tedious as hell. Plus it is a little dull level wise. |

I can't bring myself to even attempt Borderlands 2. I fucking can't stand Anthony Burch (who wrote the script) but worse, I despise that unfunny idiot of a sister of his who plays one of the characters in it. In my best Peter Jones impression "I'm out". |

Wow, that's an interesting reason to miss out on the best loot-em-up I've ever played....but then, I actually enjoy Hey Ash Whatcha Playin. Can't see any link between them other than his being the writer of both. Radically different things.

I refuse to put money in their pockets. I can't do it. I think it is spurred on by reading (and contributing to) a thread on another forum where people talk about movie stars they refuse to watch. It got me thinking about other people I can't stand, and then Burch was on a podcast as a guest spouting the same shite he did in his Rev Rant videos and that was it. I couldn't spend any money funding his wages. That plus I have other games I'd rather buy first. Plus my Xbox gold sub is up for renewal and I need money for that as well. The brother and sister combo come low down on my priority list. |

Quite like the idea of Borderlands 2 (never played the first one), but still have shooter fatigue. And sort of saving the shooting stuff for Doom 3 HD! Was it really 8 years ago! Yoiks. Been playing more Dark Souls - been grinding and getting ready for the DLC next month. Also played Max Payne 3 - loved it. Fucking awesome story and acting. And oozing that R* personality I haven't experienced since the fucking spectacular RDR. Just makes me look forward to GTA V even more. Very disappointed by Darksiders 2 - just very meh. Should float my boat as it has everything from every franchise I've ever loved (Zelda, Tomb Raider etc). But the game simply has no personality of it's own. And Death going round asking people who they are and doing little fetch missions just makes no sense what so ever. Won't be buying a a Wii U, but if I'm not mistaken Nintendo Land is looking very cool - and one of the mini games is a Zelda dungeon ... in HD ... fanfuckingtastic! |

I am wavering on Max Payne. Zavvi have it for £17.99 but I've read it can be frustratingly difficult. Plus from what I've seen of it, I hate that bastard blurring wavy horrible screen thing they have going on that is supposed to indicate him being off his face or something? When I take my meds in the evening they can give me motion sickness with certain games, and I think those horrible - and totally unfuckingnecessary filters - will set me off feeling queezy. |

Yes, that can grate a bit but I kinda got used to it mate. What annoyed me more was this annoying flickering (supposed to be a cool video effect I guess) on cut scenes between levels (are we still supposed to call them levels, or is it scenes or chapters these days!). Overall though was out weighed by a great game, heavy on narrative but without forsaking game play. And the story isn't actually bad either. But if you have an issue with motion, might be worth a rent to see if it will be a problem game for you mate. |

I shoulda loved MP3 as I loved 1+2, but it just didn't click for me. One frustrating "too many baddies at once" bit too many saw me sending it back.... |

I stuck MP3 in my basket at Zavvi while I had a think about it. Shortly after I received an email off them telling me the game was in my shopping cart and did I need help with my order. It had a screenshot of the cart with the price of £17.99 so I thought "fuck it" and clicked on it to order it. Only to find they had put the price up of the game even though it was reserved in my cart. Admittedly they only put it up to £19.99 but that ain't the point! Incidentally, does it have any kind of online pass/code in the box bullshit. Or could I save even more money by buying it second hand? |

Back to finish off Shadow of the Colossus. For a game over 8 years old (HD remake or not), it still looks bloody lovely. |

I've been waiting and waiting for Shadow/Ico HD to have a price drop. I don't mind paying the £20 asking price, but they have had so many discounts on games lately that I'm sure my patience will see me save maybe a fiver ![]() I have started playing Resident Evil 6 and I'm rather enjoying it. I'm in a select group though it seems, as reviews are all over the place for this game. I'm a bit of a sucker for the Resi games though so it was a day one purchase for me. I have to say I think it's a great looking game, but holy crap is it linear so far. It is almost like Final Fantasy 13 in that regard. The environments can look fantastic, but so far (maybe 4 hours in) you don't get to explore them. Everything is conveniently cordoned off by damaged vehicles etc. Which is a pity as they can clearly create sizeable areas with with ease it seems. It's a big game for your money though. I've played for maybe 4 hours as I say, and am nowhere near finishing off Leon's chapters, and there are two other characters to play as, as well. I believe Capcom said it would provide about 30 hours of gameplay, and it looks like they were telling the truth. My only real gripe gameplay wise, is that it can feel too claustrophobic at times for the camera to keep up with you. There can be times when it throws a LOT of enemies at you in confined spaces, and I've died because I can't get aiming and pointing in the right direction quickly enough because I'm squashed into a corner somewhere. That is partly down to me not being that great at shooters I admit. But it is still an issue. I'm playing on normal and have died a fair few times so far. Not much else to say at the moment other than it hasn't done enough to make me think 30 hours of it will get tedious at all. In fact I like the design of the game world so I'm looking forward to playing on. I think the other characters have different play styles, but I am not sure in which way that is as I kept myself in the dark on this one to avoid spoilers. Oh and for the first time in a Resident Evil game, you can move and shoot at the same time. Almost forgot the co-op stuff. It has online and split-screen co-op, but one neat thing; the stories cross over between characters, and you can set the game to be constantly looking for online partners, and it even looks for them as the stories coincide, so that you could end up playing those crossover sections with people who are playing as the other main characters. Not something I'll make use of myself. But pretty clever nevertheless. [/b] Edited by Retrovertigo, Oct 4 2012, 04:33 AM.

I'll probably get put away for talking to myself at this rate but I'm continuing on with Resi 6 and loving it still. Really enjoying the set pieces, the diversity of the environments, the variation in monster designs (something the 3DS game could learn from) and the over all fun of it all.Tried the demo of Forza Horizon. They have some fucking balls calling it open world I'll give them that. I've seen a quote from the bearded prick who runs Turn 10 saying you can crash through fences, and if you can see it, you can drive to it. But it seems they decided to line every single road with indestructible barriers, making interesting bits of scenery look tantalisingly close, but forever out of reach. Cars seem to lack weight and general feedback, and once on dirt seem to develop tyres made of super glue. It all looks very pretty of course, and is generally fun to drive. But fuck me it has codemasters written all over it. Forza 4.5 this is not. Disappointed. |
