This! I've tried before to do RTS stuff and, frankly, "thinking ahead" just doesn't work in my brain. Have dowloaded the demo. |

Forza Horizon has been in my drive a fair bit the last week or so. But I feel like I'm just going through the motions playing it. It just doesn't feel that exciting to play, and can't quite seem to decide whether it wants to be sim-light or fully arcade. It feels Forza-ish when racing non tarmac, but then you hit the dirt and suddenly it feels like a codemasters rally game (the newer shit stuff, not the Colin McRae games). There just isn't any thrill in the races and it all kind of plods along. Plus, despite folk on the net gushing over the visuals, that is only really because they have high quality antialiasing, and therefore hardly any jaggies. But the price to be paid, is bland visuals and extremely low detail in the town areas. I hate it when people say shit like "it looks like a PS2 game". But honestly, the buildings lack any detail at all, and the texturing is N64 quality in some places. On another forum, someone linked to the New York tracks in PGR4 - and that 5 year old game looks so much better than Horizon. There is a shit load of detail, and the draw distance is amazing. I'm also not someone who gets off on seeing someone has beaten one of my times, or sped past a speed camera a few MPH more than me. So that element of the game - designed to keep you coming back - does nothing for me. Looking forward to getting hold of AC3 and Halo 4 though. AC3 especially. I have always loved the Assassins Creed games, and the size and scope of that game excites me. Plus I'm a sucker for Halo, especially the co-op. |

Assassins creed 3 is awful So so dull, most boring thing ever attempted to play Apparently after THREE to FOUR hours it opens up and gets better, I managed two and threw it into the "don't bother with again" cupboard. |

Yeah I've seen many people saying you really do need to persevere at the start, but then it becomes rather good. Luckily I think I'll have the patience. But because I've seen many say there are a few bugs and difficult sections, I'll be waiting for the inevitable price drop soon-ish ![]() Just been and picked up Halo 4 from Sainsbury's. Was £32.99 provided you bought 2100 MS points. Means the points were effectively £11 which ain't bad at all

So I finished Halo 4. I think Reach is the better game. A large number of the environments in 4 are just plain dull. So.Many.Metal.Walkways....dull dull dull. The new enemies are just as bad. They look like rejects from the 3D Metroid games. They just don't have the personality, appeal of the covenant (who do make an appearance) I actually found this to be the easiest Halo so far as well. I'm shit at FPS's but sailed though it on heroic. I'm much preferring the Spartan Ops mode where there are CGI story elements (which are amazingly well made considering they are little throwaway side stories) and then you are dropped into various parts of the game world and have to fight off enemies, protect things, make your way to point B etc. But good fun, although very easy as you have infinite lives, so basically end up winning no matter how good or bad your gaming skills are. Looking forward to Far Cry 3 this Friday, which wasn't on my radar at all, but is getting stellar reviews everywhere. Managed to snag it for £28 so can't complain as it looks to be a beefy game with plenty of content. |

Started Far Cry 3 yesterday and it's very nice so far. fantastic intro to set the scene, and a genuinely menacing villain. Brilliant voice work and motion capture for him- as there aare for all the characters so far to be honest. The game looks great, and while there are framerate problems that would usually bother me - I have happily ignored them so far. I'm not very far into the game yet, but have already hunted animals, collected plants to make medicine. I've been attacked by a crocodile (which scared the shit out of me) and a shark. Gun play feels nice - the weapons have a nice weighty, meaty feel to them. And your movement is great. They seemed to have realised that moving through large open worlds can be a slog, so you run really quickly. That plus there is fast travel and plenty of vehicles to use. So yes, so far I can see why reviews ave generally been quite gushing for this. Looking forward to really diving into it and enjoying the apparent 15-20 hour story (not including side missions). |

By the way, I've put a couple of hours into one of my 98p specials from Morrisons: Dragon Age II, and it's struggling to justify the price tag! |

Yeah Dragon Age II isn't a patch on the first game. I preferred the battle system, but fuck me the copy paste dungeon layouts really took the piss. |

I haven't actually got to any dungeons yet, just finding the whole thing lame, especially the combat. |

Go back and read the first few pages of this thread, its like nothing has changed Games people are playing (six years ago) ? Hitman, Eldar Scrolls, Forza and a Call of Duty Who says originality is dead Completed Far Cry 3 - was ok, far from as brilliant as the net makes out - repetative and nonsensical with the hunting / collecting (why do I need a Bear skin to make a bigger bag, why not just more Boar skins, they worked to start with) and the plant thing - I only ever used healing needles, and even then they seemed pointless as you could heal anyway The first person "uncharted" sections where my favourite - good to see them make fps platforming work It felt over long - too much base taking and standard FPS missions - would have preferred more logical hunting quests and also a bit more of the platform and exploration It was very much a fps Uncharted, but without Uncharted brilliant balance of shooting to exploration \ platforming Once I got to the second half of the game it very much became a case of just "plodding on" til completion - the whole second half was just the same as the first Enjoyed the radio towers (got all those) but soon became bored of the base taking - after awhile it became easy and repetitive to snipe the alarm boxes then snipe any animal cages and wait Also, it was far too easy to just run into the base, hit the alarm box then run out leaving a few mines and c4 in your wake Went out last night and got us as WiiU - like the look of the zombie game Not connected it up yet though Edited by dunkle, Dec 7 2012, 10:38 AM.

Whoah there. Uncharted's brilliant balance of shooting, exploration and platforming? Funny how different people have different views on the same things. Uncharted for me, is a bit of platforming (not much exploration as they are very linear) and a fuck ton of hiding behind convenient boxes while hoards of bad guys run at you. I think I spent 90% of Uncharted bogged down behind cover shooting baddies, and 10% doing other stuff ![]() Obviously the hunting in Far Cry is done to encourage you to explore and find the various animals. Otherwise everyone would kill all the animals needed at the start of the game and immediately have the best of everything at their disposal. It is contrived for sure, but it is meant to show your character progressing. The other options are either a very restrictive carrying capacity which would mean lots of fast traveling to buy more ammo and swap out weapons, or Skyrim's equally unrealistic system of being able to carry the equivalent of a transit vans full of gear on your person. |
