Well, finished Warfighter and enjoyed it while it lasted. 007 Legends was quite literally FUCKING AWFUL, and didn't deserve more than the hour or so that I gave it before being returned. Shameful. Was it a budget release ? Anyway...will persevere with F1 2012 (not enjoying the game as much as I did the demo), and have DmC waiting here too...gotta love...err..LoveFilm! |

Off my games quite at bit at the moment, not sure why - go through these phases sometimes. Definitely getting more fickle about what I play as I get older. I know what I like and I like what I know! Anyway plodding through skyrim. Dabbled with Far Cry, meh. Bored off assassins creed 3. Who ever dreamt up the dreary Connor what's shooting. Dead space 3 and tomb raider maybe my saviours - two of my fav franchises. If they suck I will have to go into cryo stasis until dark souls 2 is out. I could always build a pc .... |

With 720 and/or PS4 semi-imminent???? Are you bloody mad, sir?! Interesting article in Games TM this month where they were building a PC to match/beat expected 720/PS4 specs and it came out at £560, and they still hadn't accounted for chassis, motherboard, PSU or monitor/speakers by their own admission. I think about PC gaming once in a blue moon, and then remember the CONSTANT urge to upgrade, the woeful need to update drivers every 10 seconds and strange incompatibility issues all over the shop....maybe it's a totally different ball game now, but consoles are just so goddamned EASY. An you're right of course - this happe s when I'm bored of games. The grass is always greener and I've been missing out on all these great games for years right? And there is no avoiding the fact that I'm fundamentally lazy. Plus where the fuck would I put a desktop in my modest metro land 3 bed semi! Dumb idea - need a new game or time to try a new genre perhaps!? |

Hmmmmn, new genre, you say? Fuck knows what. Arguably the best thing I EVER did was to give the RPG genre a stab with Fallout 3, and I've never looked back since, but you've done all that... Any suggestions from anyone? |

The Singstar thing on the PS3 is very annoying indeed. It wouldn't be so bad if you could move the icon down the list, but you can't. Never had an issue with ads on the Xbox dash. Many times they have informed me of something I may otherwise have missed, be it a demo or whatever. Plus they are aside from everything else. You NEVER have to click on an ad first to get to anything else. They can be completely ignored. It's weird, because you never see people moaning about the BBC or SKY. You are even forced to pay for the BBC and they still run ads for other shit between shows, and if you are watching live you have to sit through the ads first. Yet I rarely see people bitch about it. I'm still playing and loving Midnight Club Los Angeles. It has taken over my gaming time completely. I was loving Far Cry and Lego Lord of the Rings, but I find myself booting up MC all the time instead. Oh and playing some Layton on the 3DS. Managed to nab a cheap download code for it so I'm getting stuck into the puzzles in that game. |

Bit trickster, because I can't think of too much I haven't tried! There is always the J-RPG thing, but as much as I like Japanese culture, they just look a little off the wall for my money. Plus the turn based battle system just frustrates me. Tried a couple of the FF's but that is all. I could always try a RTS, but haven't the PC to cope with one. Apart from that Halo title a few years back, I can't think of many on the consoles. There might have been a Lord of the Rings one I think as well. Anyway, gotta be a mouse and keyboard job surely. Bound to be something out there - will do some googling today me thinks! |

If you want to give them another try you could look out a copy of Lost Odyssey. It's the only JRPG I've ever completed and I loved it pretty much all the way through. Even the levelling up you need to do to beat some of the bigger monsters isn't too bad once you find a couple of hidden levels where you can pile on the experience points quickly. |

I absolutely loved Lost Odyssey. It is the best Final Fantasy game this generation. But I don't think Juz is a fan of turn based battles? If he can get over that of course, there is an epic game here with some good humour, touching moments, and fantastic music. Not to mention that graphically it can be a good looker at times. I have been contemplating a rerun of it recently. I have been playing through the Sleeping Dogs DLC "Nightmare in Northpoint". It's basically a zombified add on for the game. And while I enjoyed it, it is over way too soon and only utilisies a small part of the map. You can still drive all over the game world, but there is fuck all to do. They could have made it so much better. Also downloaded The Cave yesterday. The new adventure/puzzle game from Ron Gilbert/ Double Fine. Really enjoying it so far, nice and atmospheric, lovely animation, great characters, and some tricky puzzles. The only downside is that although you take 3 characters from a roster of 8 with you, they only allow offline co-op and controlling all three by yourself (hot swapping between them with the d-pad) can be a bit of a chore. But it has Double Fines usual charm and I'm looking forward to playing a lot more of it today. Also watched the latest Nintendo Direct video yesterday, and fuck me I want a Wii U now. The new Xenoblade and HD remake of Wind Waker (remake not just increased resolution) look absolutely bloody gorgeous. Edited by Retrovertigo, Jan 24 2013, 05:03 AM.

Thanks gents, I will take a look at Lost Odyssey. I also see Ni no Kuni is getting some rather good reviews. Might be a reason to dust off the PS3. I read there is a demo, so I might check that one out. I've tried the metal gear revengeance demo, and whilst it looks lubbley jubbley I'm not convinced I like the sword controls. May need time to adjust though. Plus good old Kojima and his endless narrative. Fucking bores me to death all the chit chat! Dead Space 3 demo - well it's Dead Space without the scares and lots of set pieces, ala Resi 6. Edited by Indie, Jan 25 2013, 09:37 AM.

Probably best to treat the Ni No Kuni demo with a pinch of salt. Apparently it throws you into some high end battles with no real explanation of what you are supposed to do. I've seen many people say the demo almost put them off, but they took a chance (game is out in the U.S) and it's actually really good. Got mine on order

Funnily enough, I just sent my disc back to LoveFilm....boooooring! Not a massive fan of combo-type games, so it was always gonna be on the back foot. Have (inevitably) returned to Skyrim...250+ hours and still finding new places and loving it. Need to finish Far Cry 3 at some point I guess.... |

Boring? Are you a mentalist?! Anymore boring than trudging around Benderim looking 'shouts' and stuff for hundreds of hours? ;-) |
