Do you really really wear hearing AIDS bro?
Sure have matey - a fine pair of NHS salmon coloured things and a small as you like pair from Boots, grey coloured so then blend into my Schofield mop.

Only mild hearing loss, but I can't survive at work without them. And at home unless I want the telly as loud and my Nan(s) used to - then I use them there too. I should wear them all the time but Bluetooth headsets (and I'm in the car for ~3 hours a day), PS2.0 headsets etc make it a pain.

Had a pair since I was about 35.

Woah - you is proper mutton, guy!

Was it too much metal, too loud or just old age?

I have to have a trolley for carrying my massive wanger around, so you're in good company.

Old age?! I was 35! Family thing dude, my old man is a deaf head and has meniere's disease, plus by bro had hearing probs too. So It's more genetic really. I don't think all the rock gigs over the years have helped my cause though!

You are a massive wanger and get carried around in a trolly you say? Thats because you are a proper spac Ernie.

How do hearing aids sound? Is it just like having headphones on and you get amplified sound. Or does it make things sound kind of electronic'y?

I have been having problems with my left ear for a few years now and simply can't get my doctor to take me seriously. But I definitely have hearing loss in it and a muffled sound to it as well. My doctor keeps saying the "tubes must be blocked", but he has been saying that for 3 years now and ut hasn't 'cleared' like he claimed.

I wish there was a high street version of specsavers but for hearing so that i could get it checked out.

I will have to try and get online again this week bro.
Definitely! I'll be online at some point.

Retro - have you access to a PS4?
Mind if I join you guys if I can? I haven't tried the online yet.
Defo Zai, I don't think we've all played online since PGR2! I hate to think how long that has been. I'll be on tomorrow night and poss Friday. Next week could be hit and miss for me as we're picking up a puppy on Saturday!
I saw you and Juz in a party last night playing Far Cry 4. I elected not to spoil the homo-erotic atmosphere (mainly because I don't have Far Cry 4). :P

Hope to catch up some other time...

Yes, they do sound odd at first - but you get used to it. Worst bit I found was hearing yourself talk. It's a bit like putting your fingers in your ears and being more aware of your voice when talking if that makes sense. I have high frequency hearing loss so girls voices generally lol. I especially find people with an accent a problem too. My aids are programmed to amplify the high frequency stuff mostly. Filling the gap in the bands I can't hear.

Mate, you can walk into any Boots or Specsavers - all the big stores have an audiologist who will do a free hearing test. I did that initially (with Supersavers, took the results to my GP who then just referred me to the hospital for NHS tests and the free aids). I would go with Boots as I've had nothing but junk mail since from Spaccysavers.

You don't need Far Cry 4 you bumler! I coulda sent you a Key To Kyrat, like I did to Indie, then you download the "demo" and get 2 hours in co-op.

YOU are homo-erotic!

Useful to know. With my shitty broadband, you'd all have gone to bed (together, probably) by the time the demo had downloaded! :'(

EDIT: Just read your earlier post about the file being 26GB - you could go away on a real safari in less time than that would take me to download! Fucking BT! [flame]

I'll try and get on once Not-so-little Zai has gone to sleep... assuming he does - he's got a stinking cold at the moment and struggles to breathe lying down, poor chap.

Indie: that's awesome that I can get a test done at boots. And even better that I get something tangible to give to my g.p

I have had a set of Astro heaphones sat here for over 3 years now and don't use them because the sound seems lobsided and it ruins the experience. And i went through all sorts of exchanges with them thinking they were all faulty at first.

Cool, hopefully you get some traction with it. I found that the NHS ignored my high street results in terms of the detail, but was enough for my GP to refer me to a consultant and audiologist at my local hospital. I moved home and in my current local health authority the work is contracted out and I only ever see a audiologist. So it varies - but either way you should get the support you need!

Good to catch up with you on GTA you old bugger! Can't believe it has been so long. And always good to extend the crew and 'FLOB' on as many people as possible! :coolspot:
