I picked up Stuntman: Ignition and i have to say its a great little game, those 5 star ratings are attictive.

Like the instant loads for restarts and the 5 strikes you can have for each scene. If you liked the demo or the previous game you should give it a go.

£29.99 aint bad for it.

The Darkness (PS3)

Was kinda disappointed with this...up until a really odd thing happens which sees you in a totally different locale. To say more would be to spoil it, but it suddenly takes a really quite spooky turn.

Once I got to this point the game really started coming into its own. Great story, great acting and some geniunely touching/scary moments.

Sam & Max - Season One

Now I was never a massive fan of the original Sam & Max, granted it was a good game I just never quite 'got' the humour at the time but it was a few years since I last played it. Prefered the Monkey Island games and their style.

This bunch of episodes though have been fantastic. Well written and crucially funny. If this is how adventure games are going to be to survive then I'm excited.

A wii conversion might help spread the word and bring the genre to a whole new audience but as it is if you've got even the slightest interest in point and click there's no excuse not to get this really.

I'm almost at the end of the last episode and I know I'll be sad when I've finished it.

Raw Danger

I bought a French copy from Amazon Marketplace recently and I have been playing it all weekend. It's more survival magic from Irem; fans of S.O.S. are sure to love it. The new setting (floods) works even better than earthquakes did - in S.O.S. your guy was ready to die from thirst every 10 minutes for no reason in particular, whereas this time having to keep an eye on how wet & cold you are makes a lot of sense. The amount of water everywhere gives almost every task a tense edge and the way the main character stumbles and your vision clouds and blurs is as good emotional feedback as I have encountered for some time. The dialogue is quite engaging, the characters genuinely seem to care for one another this time & many of the conversation tree options will raise a smile.

Folklore (PS3)

A bit of a Halloween treat this one and a little gem if you are-

Into action RPG

Quirky, eerie storytelling

Collect 'em ups.

Not really played anything like it but I supposed it has a Dark Cloud/Shadow of Memories/Kameo amalgum in its gameplay styles.
The exploration is linear and corridored, the combat is simple but for some reason it's really addictive for me but then I enjoy games that are simple to play yet have layers of depth to that simplicity.

Wonderful graphics and art style and a lovely varied soundtrack help with the sightseeing, as well as quirky ethereal touches like stairways laughing and sparkling at you as you run up them.
It's just good fun using different souls to attack stuff and some of their attacks are really cool to watch. One of the few games where fighting beautiful big boss monsters is rewarding, forcing you to find the right combinations of soul attacks in your picture spell book. And the sixaxis soul fishing use is really good and sets it apart from what you can find elsewhere.

If you want free roaming, physics interaction game forget it but if you enjoy the classic 'collect then use' mechanic you may be quids in.

Certainly a refreshing change from brum brum, pow pow....

I liked the demo of Folklore, liked the stratagy of fighting the monsters using different types.

Speaking of demos i played the Ratchet demo, really enjoyed it. If you liked the PS2 games at all then you'll love this. It looks really nice and its got the sweet weapons.

Now downloadin the *cough*GT5 demo*cough*

Clank might get delayed for me too. Priority is multiplayer games, then singleplayer as i finish one i'll pick up another. Also i think Assassins Credd and Mass Effect will push R&C till later, i did love the demo but it dosent look overly "new".

Not impressed by the GT5 demo demo. While the AI actually made mistakes, it seems more planned rather than reactive still, no crash damage, and the flat landscape seemed less exciting than the early demo in the mountains. I do think the handling felt better than PGR4 and Forza, there was something odd about those, but it might just be because i've played more GT games so what my base is against? Wheres my next-gen TOCA!

Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass

If there's a better implemented control system in an RPG I'd like to see it.

I'm about 4 hours in and the game is ingenious. Not only one of the finest action RPG's I've ever played but due to the setting and mini games possibly the greatest pirate game as well.

Worth the wait

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue demo:
Just been playing this with the G25 wheel in a proper racing seat setup and as expected, its outstanding. I thought I'd appreciate the in-car view but never use it (sticking to bumper), but it works so beautifully and felt perfectly setup that I kept to the view. The amount the camera tilts when you brake gives a strange sensation of motion at first, but after a few corners you really get into it and it just clicks and feels really natural.

It's quite honestly epic to drive around the track with all the assists off, in-car view, manual transmission and the G25 in a proper setup. Very, very impressed with this, and cannot wait for the full GT5 Prologue. It's great with the SIXAXIS and Dual Shock 3 (subtle vibration, but nicely implemented), but with the G25 its a different beast and is an incredible experience.
