In the end I actually did manage to finish The Punisher and despite it being fairly run of the mill I really enjoyed it. So now I'm on to...

Forza Motorsport

Another eBay purchase, £5.20 this time, and so far so good with it. I'm not the best at racing games so the ability to customise the difficulty so much works out great for me. At the moment I've got it setup somewhere between PGR and GT which suits me just fine.

Kameo - Xbox 360
I am enjoying this quite a lot, its definetly a much, much better game than the demo gave away. That first level is utterly dull and I am surprised Rare actually used it for demos and shows etc. I am still not 100% liking the character designs and art direction, but the levels are lovely and themed really well, and more importantly its a good platform/adventure game. An enjoyable experience for sure..

PGR3 - Xbox 360
Plays better online since the patch which is good, but something is missing from the experience..

Ridge Racer 6 - Xbox 360
Sublime. This had to come out again since the 7RR announcement, and luckily for me quite a few on my friends list love it too.. One more love is Ridge Racer all over again

Outrun 2006 C2C - Xbox
It's Outrun 2 SP, nuff said.

Dragon Quest - Journey of the cursed King

Loving this game and it's not because it's original or revolutionary just because it plays so well.

The cast is brilliant with mostly decent dialogue and the fighting system whilst being simplistic in comparison to other RPG's seems to work well. Once you've played for a while you can see how to apply basic tactics to fights which adds a bit more.

The only niggles I have are the pretty frequent random battles which do get annoying and the fact that you often have to venture out to specifically fight just to level up so you can beat a boss.

Hitman Blood Money demo

There's a demo on this months OPSM2 but it's a timed one *groan* :( Doesn't seem radically different to the last games. It's a shame you can't play for longer as you just get into it before it decides to reset!

How is the combat ?

Is it turn based (as in FF VII) or is it this new breed of fighting that just feels arcade like

It's turn based but as I say some may find it a little too simplistic, which I suppose it is but it's accessable which is the main thing. Less complex then say final fantasy but it's nice to be able to pick up and play.

You can either have your fellow companions fight manually where you tell them whether to attack, cast a spell etc. or you can use 'tactics' where you can specify whether they automatically defend, attack etc. without you doing it for them.

There's also the option a little into the game to forge new weapons and items in the alchemy pot but Oblivion it sure ain't!

Still playing FFXI - enjoying it immensely. If anyone wants a World Pass for Diabolos server, let me know. :)

Still haven't started FFXI - have a copy here that I won cheap on ebay and don't know whether to take the plunge with the dangerously addictive PS2360 game or not.

I "HAD" to finish CoD2 on "Veteran" cos DC did, and it took up all my bloody waking hours over the weekend. If you have it and haven't tried it yet then do, it's bloody brilliant, an example of how a game can be tough as arseholes but fair, fun, enjoyable and addictive as crack. At times it seems impossible, but you always get a bit further next go, and have another idea of how to survive the next life and death struggle - I must have died more completing that game than in any other, ever. The way the campaign seems to sway in the allies favour and you feel like you have the edge on the last level is brilliant - then they set you up with a finale where you have to hunt and kill two Tigers in the narrow streets of a small town - amazing - Saving Ryan's Privates had nothing on that.

I just bought Dragon Quest: Journey Of The Cursed King, I remember seeing this a few weeks ago on a gaming program, but it was Hario's review on the main site which made me decide to give it a go. (good review mate)

Pedro hit the nail on the head, it is simplistic, in comparison to the later Final Fantasy's, but I think thats what has gripped me so much about it, it's 'old-skool-ish'.

The bosses do seem to be a bit of a pain.

The 'wipe out' system, is annoying at times e.g. in final fantasy when all party members are killed, your loading your game back up. Where as in this, when you die, its back to the last town you visited...but HALF your money is taken off you.
The good side your probably wondering... you keep all the items you found before you died and if you levelled up, you stay on that level etc.

To me it feels very Zelda-like, dont know if its due to the graphics, or just the cave / dungeon music bein' extremely similar.

...Think I'll go put a few more hours in :)

Glad there's another fan Dom! :)

I had a look on gamefaqs to see how big the thing is and its massive. Won't say too much but there's a lot more to do after you've tracked down Dhoulmagus.

Definitely one that's worth the money in terms of lifespan.

Also still playing Oblivion, only 55 hours played.
I have only done 2 of the main story quests when I first started and have since become side tracked in the many side quests that every second person seems to add, advancing up through the various guilds and adding approx 30 mods.
Now the modders have started releasing new quests and towns, so I dont think I will be getting back to the main quest for a while yet.

The Farm - Episode One

This is an amateur point a click game which was created with AGS or Adventure Game Studio and it's brilliantly wierd.

http://www.bigbluecup.com/yabb/index.php?topic=26078.0

It's quite a big file but it's worth it just to see what someone with time and talent can come up with. The interface is a little wierd (read the read me file) but after a few minutes you get the jist of it.

Go on have a go.

I think the last thing I want right now is for Oblivion to get any bigger :P

I have been mostly starting Oblivion from scratch as my character was all over the place skills wise and as such was pretty piss poor at everything. So far I've put about 12 hours into my first character and 5 into the new one but the bes part is that even though I started again I have barely done anything twice.

As I'm a bit of an RPG novice much of the game was passing me by so I picked up the offical guide which is a beast of a book and after a couple of sessions of reading that I actually feel I've got my head around the world.

It has drawn me in like only one other RPG has before (KOTOR) so much so that I haven't even touched Call of Duty 2 yet.

Just been playing Rockstar's Table Tennis - definitely got a resounding "WTF-Meh" from me until I played it, but what a polished game. Waaaaaaaaay better than Topspin 2, like all the best ball games, the ball physics player animation and reaction times have got to be right - and they are - great looking, great fun and sensibly priced too.
