The Orange Box (barely)

As in "barely playable?"

Seriously - is the framerate as bad as they say?

Barely enough to comment.

Only a small part of Half life 2 and Portal.

Apparently the framerate is worse on episode 1 + 2.

Will make my own decision when I get there, about September 2008 ;)

Picross DS

Hate Sue Dooku? I do too.

Play this bitch instead. Once you get your head around the number clues on the borders you will be painting squares against the clock in no time. Yet another reason why the DS is simple handheld heaven.

Stranglehold PS3

For a couple of hours I thought it was tremendous. Amazing destructive physics everwhere and visceral as fuck in the crazy stunt gunfights. But its a bit samey. And looks a bit flat. And there is little time to engage brain or generate atmos. And when you have played something as tight and amazing looking as Drakes Fortune you realise this sort of stuff is everyday candyfloss. Enjoyable in short doses though.

exactly how it hit me when i bought it. problem was i had bioshock, the orange box and Halo 3 to get through and it wasn't changing enough to warrant keeping at it.

after a week of solid playing, sometimes until the early morning without even noticing, i've finally completed Mass Effect and i'm kind of sad it had to end as i really enjoyed it.

yes, the framerate gets dodgy every so often and the Mako controls are shite and bombing around planets surveying rocks isn't the best way to spend your time but i really got into the characters and the storyline and that's not something that happens often with me. big thumbs up for me but if you haven't got patience (ie can't stand hours and hours of conversations) or can't get 'into' it then you'll probably get annoyed quite quickly.

Now to finish off CoD4, Orange Box and to start all over again...

Eye of Judgement

Can you play this against someone in the same room, or is multi player online only?

Yes. Umm both i mean.

Also you can in theory play without a TV (just the mat and cards) but it would be a reasonable amount of number-keeping.

CALL OF DUTY 4

Absolutely amazing game!!, I'm playing through this for the 3rd time on the hardest setting... rather frustrating at times but this game has raised and set the bar for FPS' so much half the developers out there might as well just scrap what ever average shit they're planning to release in the next year or so unless it is extremely polished and has a little something about it that is going to appeal to people because in my opinion anyone whos played this has now got very high standards for a FPS game.

a Genuine 10/10 game.

I completed it on hardened the other day and to be honest for what it was it was a good game but not as good or innovative as CoD2 was. and now that XBL seems to be screwing up all the time i can't even play this online. less impressed with this as opposed to other games as the honeymoon period has worn off.

Super Mario Galaxy.

The Wii is "officially" for the kids but I couldn't help having a go on this.

Never really been a fan of the plumber, probably due to lack of exposure. I was a Sega boy in my youth. Played the GBA incarnations and got burnt on Mario sunshine on the Gamepube.

But this is joyous fun. Great use of the wiimote and nunchuck. Everything feels so intuitive regardless of whether you are upside down, downside up etc.

I'll be back for more of this.

Yeah, right! How long will it be before the kids are quietly sobbing in the corner, unable to get a look-in?! ;)

Mario Galaxy is a truly "lovely" game - I can't think of a better way of describing it - Sunshine made me want to kill people, but Galaxy is just so right.

I caved in and finally bought it after thinking about it for a long time. And it's great fun...

Soldier of Fortune: Payback

I just reviewed this and by fuck is it awful.

Sid Meier's Railroads

I needed something sedate and soothing for my post holiday state of physical weakness (and something to purge SoF's horrors from my system). It's light, is as about as deep as a child's paddling pool but I keep coming back to it like an old friend.

Team Fortress 2

Rediscovered the joys of the Pyro class. I love Team Fortress 2. That is all.

I loved the first game - satisfied the mental-patient lurking in me.

The second one I gave up on cos I think it bugged-out at a certain point and I never returned to it.
