Yup - there was just something so utterly, utterly "meh" about that demo. wasn't there?

Did you actually see B) the animation and skinning on those dinos outside in the sunshine? Surely that wasn't 'meh' by anyone's standards. And the wandering dino element in the multiplayer could be interesting - but I seriously doubt it. :D

Playing:

Stuntman Ignition (360) - Not sure whether this is fun or fungus. The scoring system seems a bit random and makes little sense, and some of the handling is a mess - the vehicle with the most traction in the game is a hovercraft... umm.. EH?

Burnout Paradise (360 - because it looks slightly better than the PS3 version) - Well not for the first time (or the last, I hope) I was completely wrong about a game - this is great game online and not even complete arsemonkeys without headsets, or hosts who lack an iota of common sense (like Jocky) can completely muck up a session. The most fun I've had with Jocky, Ste, Big T et al since that time with the crate of Bud, the tub o' vaseline and an electric nose hair trimmer (or was it Halo 3?)

Well despite having Lost Odyssey I find the only game I am putting any time into is THE GODFATHER on 360

Got it on rental and have found it to be strangely addictive despite not being that great a game

But the same is true of the PS3 version. We're pretty much split down the middle on this one.

2 points:

1. Surely a 'Gay Cunt' would be a lesbian's bits. As we all know, lesbians are all nubile young women just looking for a nice bit of pork along with their equally nubile friend. Who wouldn't want to play with them? PS3 owners I guess.

2. RAMPANT HOMOPHOBIA!!!!!

Been playing a little bit of Burnout(the decent version - that's the 360 one kids ;) ) _ I keep swinging between thinking I'm going to sell it because in single player it bores me silly, to getting some multiplayer going and really enjoying myself.

Spent a LOT of time playing Lost Odyssey (get it played Dunkle :P) It really is very nice indeed. There have been too many RPG's lately where they have screwed around with the formula to it's detriment. This is an old school RPG through and through, stiff animation, random fights, iffy voice acting. But christ it's good. It's everything that made me fall in love with RPG's years ago when I first played Final Fantasy 2.

It does everything so well. It has humour, genuinely touching moments (the dreams which are a few sound effects accompanying pages of text, are so wonderfully written) a great battle system. It actually makes you take full advantage of each characters traits. Too many times I play an RPG and just melee away with my magic users as well as the fighters. This doesn't let you get away with that.

Even writing about it now makes me want to switch it on and get stuck in. Which is exactly what I'm going to do :)

I'm also really enjoying Lost Odyssey.

I'm only an hour or so in but as Retro knows my favourite game of all time is Final Fantasy 8 and this really does feel like a next-gen reworking of that formula. WHich given the design team is not very surprising.

Looking forward to the next 40 hours or so!

:P

Until I evolve into a god and can stop time (it will happen) I'm having to snatch at games in brief sessions. Fotunately I got some holiday coming up so maybe I can delve into some meatier gaming, but currently I am making do with quickfire stuff like-

TUROK

I am slightly enjoying this. Does that make me a bad person or a fuckwit? Wait a minute I already know I am both.....

Its rubbish. Absolute rubbish without a grain of ingenuity or creative panache. But its good rubbish in a B movie style. In so far as its science fiction, macho and you can take down plenty of 'saurs. The Unreall III graphics are ok, pretty detailed in some parts, a bit washy and shite in others. Certainly nowhere near as spectacular as the almost Crysis like screen shots looked a few months back.

Its just a standard FPS but you dont get many where you can frag decently rendered dinos on an Alien planet do you? And everybody loves forest planets. I love/hate/am terrified by those speedy tree climbing critters! Its got the lamest, weakest weapon sound FX ever though....

*******************************************************

It may be on a drip feed diet but anybody who knows what they are talking about (IE- nobody on here) knows that the PSN is already pure creative excellence only a year on.

Pixel Junk Monsters

Crack. Heroine. Bovril on Toast. This is a cutesy desktop tower defence type thing. Cheap as chips, a tiny download and hey presto, say goodbye to your afternoons wanking. Build turrets in strategic locations and watch as all your men die due to your incompetence.

Everyday Shooter

Splendid and completely odd dual joystick shoot em up to the sounds of twangy grungey guitar. Mesmeric hand drawn style and oddball enemies. Cheap, addictive, creative and the perfect game for wierdos who love rock music, wear shit clothes and nerd themselves on games. Come on down Juz.....

Go Skydiving

Brings back memories of Pilotwings. Nice looking 3D and gay colourful outfits. Sixaxis controls take some getting used to and the game requires a surprising amount of skill. Still trying to get the hang of doing the formations with other jumping gaylords. Bit undecided about this to be honest but for some reason the beauty of Skydiving needs to be on my hard drive almiost as much as muff diving does.
