Yeah, Geometry Wars 2 has got me good at the moment. I need more competition on scores than just Ste though.

I purchased Bionic Commando: Rearmed on weds. Its definatly one of the top Arcade games.

Once you get used to having no jump and the swinging, its a pretty sweet game.

I've been playing this too, agree that it's one of the top five PSN games, but with the caveat that you have to like old-skool games.

How frustrating are some of the virtual-room thingies though? I cant imagine what it's like trying to play on a 360 d-pad, it's good enough on a 6A :o but not ideal, and makes me want an "arcade stick".

The Commando homage bits are pretty pointless, not long enough to be interesting, and not difficult enough to be a challenge (so far). Ditto the hacking game; no way of changing the input/camera, so i spend more time going back the way i wanted than thinking about the move i want to make.

It has a fantastic soundtrack, and is totally what arcade gaming is about, and i hope other devs are shamed into doing proper conversions after this!

Yeah i agree with your points.

You do have to like old skool gaming

Yes the soundtrack is awesome

And yes those commando bits just get in the way.

I heard rumblings about the 360 dpad being naff for this game, but im just using the analog stick and its a treat.

Assassin's Creed (PS3)

....for about 3 hours.

I honestly can't remember the last time a supposed AAA title didn't appeal to me on as many levels as this.

It's completely shallow, and it kinda lurched, jerked and tore its way over the screen (despite me having to do an update).

I can't help but think that this game was only as hyped as it was because of Jade Thingummy (not Goody), because I found it truly horrible and repetitive.

Was this the Rise Of The Robots for the Next Gen?

Crap.

This is another game I've had on my shelf for ages - I resolved not to start it until I finished something else and then just never got round to it.

I read somewhere that it was the update that buggered the framerate, though.

Fuck knows - if it was, then why haven't they re-patched it?

Anyway, it's only really a minor issue in comparison to the game being as tedious as it is.

There's just nothing to it really...I wouldn't bother if I was you - even the training bits are fuckin numbing.

Castle Crashers

1200 points on Xbox Live for a very decent scrolling beat em up. Excellent cartoon graphical style and animation, plenty of unlockables, lots of upgrading of the characters, and with two of us co-op'ing last night the online play was flawless. The humour is completely puerile (e.g. a deer being propelled along as it shits itself in fright), but made both of us laugh out loud.

Only worry is that when you have more than 2 people playing it gets too busy on screen.

What I haven't been playing:

Ninja Gaiden 2, or more accurately, Ninja BROKEN.

The last update they did to the game about 5 weeks ago causes the game to crash on several cutscenes. Ste has exactly the same problem. The only way I can play the game is to clear the updates off my 360 for ALL games, and then play it offline. Fucking useless.

I got back into NG2 then it just craps out on a cut scene. Argh

Castle Crashers is a great lil game, love the art style.

Bionic Commandeo: Rearmed, Hard, Teh Albatross

So i finished BC:R on normal, completely enjoyed it. Started on Hard, some bits are a bit tough, i have no problems with the enemy shooting diagonally, except they can shoot thru solid floors/ceilings?! Still it's not that bad.

I get to the last level and the nasty platforming bit, yeah that one after you do the three doors, is extra nasty! I go about collecting lives, real careful like, and make it back to the last level with 16 lives (sixteen!), "that should be enough i think?". Is it? No way! First attempt i lose one live (and ergo all my armour) doing the three doors, lose a further nine doing the platform bit, so i go into the Leader with six lives - and rapes me like a hooker. <cute trick, quit and start BC:R again before you die with your last life, and it dosent overwrite your last point> So i go back in again, sixteen lives. Do the three doors perfect, lose only one life platforming, and get raped again and again by the Leader.

There's tough and theres brutal! I dont know if i have the will to try again, most probably i will. But it's totally putting me off doing Super Hard difficulty.

Great game on Normal, only play above that if you like pain, or are great at 2D twitchers.

Assassin's Creed. Really, really liked it at first. The scale the animation (frame rate was ok too).

But after doing the 1st assassination it became like groundhog day.

Bumping into Josie Lawrence on every bleeding street corner asking for money. Repeat to fade.

Its a last gen title gameplay wise in a next gen skin. Until the animations get screwed and your horse hovers on a single hoof or you end up doing the ladder dance.

I got quite near the end before I got GTA but doubt I'll be going back to complete it.
Insert Coin.

Resistance 2 (online) (PS3)

Can't say much about this without breaching the terms of the beta agreement, but, with 60 player battles and very little lag, it could be something special... if people can be persuaded to use voice chat.
