Shaun White Snowboarding - Road Trip (Wii) At last, something worth having a balance board for. (I got bored with Wii Fit after a couple of sessions). To be honest, I'm struggling with trying to go in a straight line and remember the button combinations for the tricks at the same time, but it's been a lot of fun trying. Playing this with just the Wii-mote is missing the point. Graphically, it's no great shakes, although it's not bad either. However, I think this is the nearest I'll ever get to snowboarding without breaking every bone in my body! |

30 Hours and counting into Fallout 3..... I like it - I've kinda always been drawn to post-apocalyptic stuff and it's actually kinda beautiful in its own, odd way - the draw distance is fookin great. This has appealed to me the same way that Oblivion appealed to others whilst leaving me cold. Meanwhile, GoW2, Resistance 2, and Motorstorm 2 remain unplayed until I finish! think i reached level 20 around that point and as much as I adored the game, the lack of levelling up made progression rather pointless so I went and completed the game around there Cant wait til March / April and all the DLC packs, by all accounts lc upped to 30

Yup - I'm at level 17 now, and had Small Arms and Repair at 100 for a while plus all Snipery/Headshotty type things maxed out so much so that I just use the Lincoln Repeater to blow the heads off anyone I encounter....but I still think it's awesomeness! Why the hell they capped it at 20 is beyond me - I'm not an RPG fan (till now, and doubt I will be again anyway), but this seems dumb even to me as it's not gonna take anyone THAT long to max out....certainly not till the DLC arrives. |

I was maybe halfway through when I maxed out, seemed such a waste. I take back the complaining I made about the graduated difficulty stuff in Oblivion... Anyhoo, with both game releases and wallets pretty dry I borrowed a mate's copy of Quantum of Solace. It plays ok, with things nicely Bond-ey and proper voice acting and all that. Character models aren't great but some effects are pretty darn nice (liked the fire effects in the Eco Hotel Kitchen). The guns as a whole feel pretty good, except that the two pistols have the exact same noise, which is annoying. That and you for some reason carry silencers for every gun in the game around in your pocket... Two main gripes-very short and too much use of the cover system. It's a bit shit that you can aim much better peering from behind cover than looking down the iron sights with a laser while crouched. Oh, and I was a bit disappointed at the linearity of it-I was expecting something like the other Bond games, where different difficulties meant more objectives, but the objectives are almost always 'run from A to B', or collect some intel which is bang in the middle of your route from A to B, which is handy. I guess that's three gripes, but oh well... Edited by crazypunk, Jan 21 2009, 11:45 AM.

FEAR 2 and Resi 5 Demos (360) Well....Fear 2 is actually a really smart looking, atmospheric shooter...however, I found myself absolutely haring through the demo and that seemed kind of a waste. Resi 5 demo was just flippin mental; I'd assume that the whole game wasn't at this ridiculous level of intensity. Sorry to burst the numerous bubbles floating around Resi 5, but this STILL feels too old school for my liking. Dunno why exactly, but it still feels less...fluid or maybe intuitive than "modern" games. Either way, I'll probs give it a miss unless I see it for a fiver. |

Agree that F.E.A.R 2 is really smart looking but i think its missing one of the coolest effects from the original F.E.A.R. Thats the shit flying all over the place when you shoot up a wall etc, on the F2 demo it makes a rubbish little spark. Resi 5 demo, played it a couple times. Split screen co-op and online co-op, both fantastic. I know what your saying about the controls but im not sure the game would work with Gears style controls. I think something is lost when you can roll or strafe and shoot at the same time. But we'll see for Resi 6 cos i dont think they will get away with these controls again. I've been playing a lot of FIFA 09 recently, the manager mode and Be a Pro online team modes are great. Fallout 3, got to level 20 nowhere near the end of the game yet. Dont know what they were thinking putting the cap at 20. Whats the point in upping it with the LAST DLC unless its huge? Edited by SteMacD, Jan 28 2009, 05:52 PM.

Deadspace (PS3) Haven't been on the forums for blooming aaaages. Life is a bitch sometimes. I've been playing this round a mates house for a few weeks now and have got up to chapter 10. Been a great title so far and whilst it doesn't do anything new and the scares are a bit predictable it works remarkably well. Looking forward to the inevitable sequel. 8/10 |

Finally "finished" Fallout 3 after putting in 10 minutes shy of 60 hours!!! Sorry to prove Bonners wrong on this, but this was, without doubt one of the best games I've ever played - no exaggeration. I've always had a thing for post-Apocalyptic stuff and this was top banana. I'd also like to say that I'll probably head back to a save I made just before the end so that I can continue to explore; it absolutely blows my mind that if you just play the story you'll only see about 20-30% of everything there is to see within this game!!! How mad is that? I mean, whole, massive areas and people will remain unseen if you just stick to the story - crazy. Absolute 10/10 game for me - not once bored or frustrated in 60 hours - impressive. Gears of War 2 Finished this and found it "meh" in the extreme - this really was a total rehash of the original, and I felt completely penned-in after coming in off the back of Fallout 3. Motorstorm 2 Yet again, the most powerful console on Earth struggles to excite me. Whilst some of the races are pretty thrilling, the complete omission of a replay AGAIN is utterly baffling! I have to be able to re-watch a race; I've been doing it obsessively since the original GT back in, what was it, '96??? Come on, for fuck sake - why no replay? Oh and wonderful 2D textures of bushes put into an "X" shape to resemble a 3D object??? Huh? Some of it is absolutely beautiful and really does look like a Pixar film in motion, but without the ability to re-watch some of my glorious victories, what's the fuckin point? Christ, Halo 3 automatically records EVERYTHING and lets you fuck around with it, and I'm willing to bet that there's a hell of a lot more going on in a game of online Halo 3 than there is in an offline race of Motorstorm 2. |

Did you honestly not wonder what the point was of most of the minor areas which didn't reveal any side or supplemental storyline, only items and money? very early on I was at Lv.20 with boatloads of cash and over a a hundred stimpacks, so it ended up being a trawling excercise, and since I had the best weapons all i really did was use the guns to fix my weapons (which i'd broken in order to get the weapons) and sell everything else to buy twenty more stimpacks. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the game as a whole, but after I'd discovered all the quirky places (like the 'Republic of Dave') the other locations were a bit boring. That and I thought the ending was a bit arbitrary, only changing right at the end rather than the holistic Bioshock ending. |

I've been playing: GTA: Lost and the Damned Think its great, love the cut scenes and new content and enjoying the missions. Skate 2 Me and a friend have completed all the multiplayer challenges. That was a laugh, great game 50 Cent Blood on the Sand Just an all out fun game, looks decent, good soundtrack (if you like 50 cent), lots of action and a decent selection of weapons. Street Fighter 4 Ohhh what a game, its the best beat'em up i've played since tekken 3. Its the perfect blend of the old and new, looks great and plays great |

Resistance 2 Welcome to about 8 years ago!! Trial and error gameplay! "Boss" battles on a prescripted path! Completely linear progression! Fuck off! I now know that I have pretty much 100% made the transition to open-world, emergent games - After putting 60 hours into Fallout 3 and about the same each into Mercs 2, GTA IV and Crackdown I just can't be doing with the lack of freedom and choice - it just feels so fucking stifling and "game" like. |
