Fight Night Round 4 It's clear from the second you switch this on that it is going to be a vast improvement on R3. The presentation is absolutely top notch and the career mode is much more organized so you actually feel like you're moving forward. Most of the character models are great but a couple of them (Calzaghe in particular) look like they were rushed off in an afternoon. The controls and the countering system are near faultless but it's still too easy to find a pattern that works and just 'lather, rinse, repeat' to victory. The CPU doesn't, even in a small way, learn from its mistakes so you can throw endless big punches to the body from range and they'll still keep their guard high. I basically strolled to a 51-0 record once I'd worked this out. Pretty much everything about it is spot on except for the AI which is just good rather than great. |

Wolfenstein Welcome to 5 years ago..... It even had an annoyingly impossible final boss battle which ensured that I didn't even finish it...thanks for that! Really not very good at all. Forza 3 Managed to trade some stuff in and get the LCE for a tenner - one of the few games that seems worthwhile getting an LE version of cos of some extras to appear at a later date. So far, impressed with it..... |

Yeah it was a bit crap wasn't it? I just ran like a bitch, circle-strafed and ducked behind cover whenever he shot his load, until the dumbass stood in a spot where I could hit him and he couldn't hit me. But jeez - that was like a timewarp, haven't Raven or id seen any of the many decent boss battles of the last six years for inspiration? Or did they (as I suspect) waste too much dev time chuckling at Blazkowicz's initials? And to compound it all after Adolf Deatheadmacher (or whatever his name was) was dead, Spoiler: click to toggle I've rarely been gladder to see the back of a game. I hope that includes a sensation of speed, which is severely lacking - 60fps definitely doesn't guarantee a thrilling racing experience. The beginner cars in NFS Shift felt like they were going fast at 80mph, Forza's still don't. It's more interesting once you get something with some balls, but Forza boresya with its relentlessly tedious shopping car races early on, just like a certain old PlayStation franchise... Welcome to 5 years ago indeed, its menus are all very clean and tidy etc. etc. etc. But... I mean FFS, it even sounds like GT now! An the cockpit view? Did they add that on a Friday afternoon? It's poorly realised and hugely uninvolving compared to the recent NFS, GT and Codies games, the driver's hands hardly move and there's no "head" movement whatsoever, which is pathetic. It does seem to have a huge amount of depth to it and plays well online even with Yanks and Aussies, but it lacks variety compared to GT, or even the flawed Shift, that's for sure. As for the store, well I can't believe people buy setups and there's a lot of shit out there, but the quality of some of the paintjobs that people have produced for it already are amazing, I bought a Citroen C4 one, and I have no idea how the guy made such an accurate reproduction of Seb Loeb's WRC car paint/sponsor scheme in just a few days. |

Actually, I have to say that the sensation of speed in the Focus ST (or whatever it was) that I won was really quite impressive after doing time in a Fiat 500 and Ford Fiesta...and it sounded nice, too. BTW - I'm being a brave boy and actually doing the whole manual gears thing...fuck, I can't brake into a corner, change gear AND speak to Liz about summink.... |

Yeah well, the Focus ST has balls doesn't it? (unlike the Atari ST) And good on ya m8 - you won't regret it, just don't try the clutch thing - it's rubbish, doesn't feel like a clutch at all and just means you have to press TWO buttons to change gear, meaning Liz'd have to be out for you to play it.

Finished playing Uncharted 2 - and good god does that drop off in quality towards the end. And that last boss, what the fuck were they thinking? I resorted to the cheap way of killing him, as running around and around and around and around and around - pausing to shoot at him, got old within 30 seconds. Lovely looking game, but way over rated imo. So now I'm back playing Tales of Vesperia again and also getting stuck in to Forza 3. I think this time around it does have a better sensation of speed to be honest. Although when playing online I always preferred the slower cars as everyone can handle them better and it cause less accidents as people steam into bends only half in control of the cars they have chosen. It was a massive waste of time them doing the cockpits. I'd love to know what percentage of players actually use it. But they simply didn't have the development time that GT5 will have had to get that done properly. The fact you need to push forward on the right stick in order to look around the cockpit is also fucking ridiculous. That plus I've seen some whacked out physics going on, with cars rolling at the slightest provocation. Still, it is more Forza, which is awesome. It has a few faults, but that is out-weighed by the huge amount of content. One thing completely bizarre about the cockpit view, is that the drivers hands don't animate to show gear changes, yet using an out of car view, they added it. Fucking weird. Uncharted 2 had some faults, but they are far less forgivable when the experience only last 12 hours, and that was with me feeling like I really took my time with it. No doubt both my current 360 games with get pushed to the back burner with the release of the GTA IV DLC this week. |

More bloody Op Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. If only this played as well as Battlefield Bad Company it'd be great. Sadly it doesn't. The AI shows signs of life only to go brain dead at the most vital moments, and the bullet-proof enemy drains any realism from the game. Glitches abound including one where you can get stuck in place when you heal a buddy, requiring him to shoot you in the foot then heal you to contunue - at which point, in return, he may or may not be stuck in place! And the campaign seemed kinda clipped too, I can only imagine they're saving the good stuff for DLC as I never got to drive a tank or fly an attack chopper - in fact, I didn't get to do half the things you could do in the original. But... it's still good fun with mates or players of a similar mindset. This game just seems like such a wasted opportunity, and smells like disappointment in the morning. EyePet - Only had a brief look at this but it's kind of incredible. The monkey-thing looks so real it's scary, and seems so well planted (thanks to a convincing shadow) that you almost feel like you could pick it up, and cuddle/strangle it. The perfect thing for kids who live where they can't keep pets, and also the perfect thing for stupid or naive parents who think that if they buy their kids a pet this Christmas that they'll actually still give a shit about it come January. A-mazing use of the PlayStation Eye camera, and makes me start to believe that Natal could actually work as suggested.

I bought EyePet for my son, who turned 2 on Saturday. I figured he would enjoy waving his arms around to make the pet react, even if he is too young yet to play with it properly. |

Mate, I have two kids now and trust me - kids touch TV's, despite your best efforts. Even the most studious parent in the world will have a hard time stopping it! Solution, TV on the wall or just don't buy nice stuff until they're older. Would love new carpet and sofa's in the living room. Waste of money, I would only get v excited when they were puked, juiced on etc! So avoid stress and shouting by not buying it - thats not to say we teach my oldest how to respect stuff and look after things - but hell, she's two and accidents do and will happen. Gotta let kids be kids! My 360 is in the side board in the dining room and my gaming TV on top of it, out of reach ;-) Well until she figures out she could probably reach it by climing up my old tatty two seater leather sofa! The only thing that my daughter understands she should touch is my MacBook Pro - still doesn't stop her from doing it though! |

In between bouts of Pro Evo 10, I finished Uncharted 2. There's no doubt in my mind that so far this is my game of the year. Graphics, set-pieces, soundtrack, animation, script are all top-notch. The game's only failing is that it peaks with the train chase and it can't maintain that level of excitement afterwards. That's not to say it isn't anything other than thrilling from beginning to end, but some of the mid-game levels are just sublime and will stand up to repeat play. |

Nah, if anything it's the other way about; if they get too close to the TV they won't interact with it at all, or be able to see anything as they'll be blocking the camera. |
