I cant get the MAG beta to work :(
Hmmm - I downloaded it last week and haven't tried it yet, must try to have a go today. :-/
Took me an age to download and do he update thing and then when the first screen comes up there was no text and would not progress :(

What have I been playing ?

Hmmmm

I just cant seem to get into anything at moment so dabbling in MW2 online
Want to give Spec Ops a go but found it dull on my own and seems its friend only as apposed to just finding someonw to play with

I have got DEMON SOULS on order / import as think that may float my boat and thanks to Goozex Infamous and NFS Shift have arrived

I may look at trying to see if I can enjoy the PS3

Yep, bugger! :$ I was under the impression it was running til the end of January - it finished on the 11th. :-/ I've heard all kinds of reports about it ranging from "it's brilliant fun once you get hooked up, like Mercs 2 only with 254 more players!" to "it's glitchy, laggy barely-playable shite, like playing Mercs 2 open only with 255 more uncommunicative morons to put up with"... I guess it is what it is. Make of that what you will.
Subtitles are available on Teletext page 888

The review code arrived today, and although it says it's "connecting to server" all you can do is watch the intro and then sit there at the non-functioning character selection screen, so I guess the game server won't be up till release day. For the record; I hate online only games, and think they are GAY. :fingers:

I dont really get online only games, but at least they are honest about not having a single player game

Interested to see how MAG compares with COD6 online

I've been working my way through a decent sized pile of game since before Christmas.

My addiction to Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer has diminished at last, so I can finally get some sleep. Am I the only one who lies in bed awake thinking about tactics after a long session online?

Otherwise I've been playing:

The Saboteur (PS3)

A really enjoyable if a little rough round the edges sandbox game. It's fun where other similar titles can often be too serious.

Bayonetta (PS3)

Absolutely crackers. I can't even begin to explain the plot, but the action is relentless and the setting and set-pieces are full of imagination. The PS3 has some shockingly bad loading times, but graphically it's not as poor as some of the reviews I've read would lead you to believe.

Assassins Creed 2 (PS3)

I got this free with my annual Empire subscription and it finally showed up this week. Only 4 or 5 hours in and it's a massive improvement over the original. I like the town customisation angle and the wider range of tasks and objectives. The cut scenes are a bit crap though.

Blue Toad Murder Files (Playstation Network)

I'm finishing my review on this, but in general it's an odd game that's neither murder mystery nor party game.

Borderlands (PS3)

I'm finding it really hard to get on with this. The graphical style is appealing, but I'm easily frustrated at all the grinding and endlessly spawning enemies. I'm hoping at some point it will just click and I'll start making good progress.

Flight Control (iPhone)

Horribly addictive air traffic control game. The missus and I spend hours trying to better each others scores. An absolute steal at 59p.

I've got this on the 360 and it's my current wind-down from work game. It's not really the sort of game I normally go for (mainly because I'm crap at combos and so just end up button mashing in this type of game) but I'm enjoying it - although I don't think it's as brilliant as everyone makes out. For a start, the story is a bit too bonkers for its own good and the character of Bayonetta is just unappealing - too much knowing smugness. Heavenly Sword was better imho.

In addition to this and plugging away at Mass Effect, I've been playing Star Trek online. My previous record with MMORPG hasn't been good because a) I don't have the time to level grind and b) I really don't like PC gaming, but, as an appreciater of Star Trek, I've enjoyed what I've played on the beta so I'm going to get the retail game.

So whats the deal with Mass Effect 2 - everywhere I bloody look someone is raving about it and I'm not even sure it's out yet?

Why am I such a sucker for lisenting to the hype - it's like Oblivion and Fallout 3. I bought both and mabye it's my butterfly mind, but they just bore me. Perhaps if I just get past the first few hours of tedium?

Is Mass Effect 2 really that good?

Regards
Non RPG Fan who has never played a Final Fantasy title ... so what, shoot me.

P.S. Baulders Gate games I loved, but they weren't 'real RPGs'!

No worries, might have a bit of trouble playing at the mo, my router has decided that my NAT is strict for no reason so it's kinda hampering online stuff at the mo! I'll add you now.

Dantes Inferno

I'm rather enjoying this, even though it's a hack n slash button mash-o-rama. I'm sure as it progresses, I'll actually have to think about my moves/combos etc.

Looks divine (geddit? I'll get my coat) and runs silky smooth due to the very steady 60fps.

Love the level design and bosses and their imagining of hell. Sound is pretty awesome too.

Some fiddly controls, especially when climbing but otherwise all okay.

Bizarrely, and completely unexpectedly, I just finished Mass Effect....15 hours!

Now, this must have been cos I didn't do many side quests or anything, and I didn't get to knob any intergalactic poontang, so missed that entire bit too. I was always under the impression that it was an epically long slog of a game?

I found it a pretty flat experience to be honest, but could see how an "improved" version might be good for a laugh.

SPOILERISH:

Was it just me, or did everyone end up with most of their buddies getting murderised one way or another?

Yeah, that is pretty quick. With exploring everything it took over 30hrs. It depends, quite a few of them get offed but you can choose between two (aka kill the moany ones that you can't knob) and some you won't kill if you go through as paragon, as you'll end up hugging it out.

Depends really-ME2 may appeal to you as there's less story and more action, but I found it more of a flat experience this time and didn't really care for the characters.
