So whats everyone playing on the 360 at the moment? I’ve just finished the mediocre (at best) Dante’s Inferno and find myself unsure of what to get next (for the first time in ages!). I was thinking of giving Mass Effect 2 a bash, but as someone who doesn’t usually to RPG’s I think that I’m only interested because of all the hype. Not interested in Bio Shock 2 as I never completed to first one, just not my bag. Really want Alan Wake, but was surprised to see its not out until May, which surprised me given all the exposure it has at the moment – thought it would out sooner. And demo of AvP left me cold. Got dizzy playing at the Alien and controls where unresponsive and clunky. Any suggestions? |

Seconded. Avoided BF2 as I knew thats what it would be like. I used to play CoD4 and loved it online but the longer I left it the more annoying it was when I came back. Now I can barely play a couple of games without getting frustrated. But the single player just isn't good enough to keep me playing. To be honest I will avoid the CoD games when they come out over the next few years, as it will only get worse. RPGs are probably the best bet for vfm and single-player fun. Will keep an eye on the new Final Fantasy game and see how that gets on. |

I feel the need to take issue with this Dunks. I picked up BBC2 almost exclusively for the single player campaign. I like online FPS' but generally run out of enthusiasm because there isn't a plot element to drive you forward. Perks are fine but it's too much like grinding for my taste. Anyhow, the single player campaign is brilliant in my opinion. The story is intelligent, easy to follow and occasionally funny (unlike Modern Warfare). The graphics are superb with some beautiful lighting effects and a great sense of scale. Best of all, the firefights and set-pieces are well orchestrated with no lulls in the action. The weapons feel incredibly solid and have possibly the most authentic sounds I've heard (especially the noise the sniper rifle makes in the valley level). I just can't see how you would think the single player is an afterthought, when it is so brilliantly designed !?! |

you can complete it in about 4 hours, its nothing thats not in the previous game or any of the COD games The tank level is a complete waste, fully destructable levels, they could have done something special with this. Something like COD4 AC130 level, destroying buildings and playing cat and mouse with the enemy tanks. As it is you just speed forward, hit the enemy tanks a couple of times and then repeat. Boring Then there is the UAV level which is again boring and pointless. Also weapon wise the game is broken, you only really need one weapon (that you get rather early on with the "red" scope") and maybe the Heavy Machine Gun with the scope as well. The Sniper rifles in the game are NEVER needed. The point in the game when they seem they are can be completed easier and quicker by using the assault rifle of MG with scope The FPS genre for the main is very, very stale. Each game just seems the same for the main with Fallout 3, Borderlands and (the forthcoming Metro) seemingly the only ones to break the trend If I spend fourty quid on a game I expect more than what BC2 gave me. To me it was nothing I had not played before, on previous consoles, but with just tarted up graphics. Bored me rigid Edited by dunkle, Mar 9 2010, 12:57 PM.

Finally got round to finishing the story missions in The Saboteur last night! This game comes soooooo close to being a classic; you really get the feeling that, if this hadn't been forced out the door of a studio on the brink of closure, and had had about 3 extra months of polish applied, it would have been up there with the best. It ends in the most sequel-baiting way imaginable, and I really hope that someone picks up the baton with this as a franchise...this game kinda makes me sad ![]() Now - I have another pickle: LoveFilm have sent me both Assassin's Creed 2 and Brutal Legend....which should I play first? I haven't played Brutal Legend but Assassin's Creed 2 is everything I wanted the original to be. It has a cracking pace, some well designed missions and is a graphic whore's delight especially when you get to Venice. Throw in a bit of sim-city style town management and it's a great all-round package. Absolute bobbins opening act though... |

ACII was very much a game of two halfs and a game very much that represented how I used to play games The first few days it was brilliant, fresh and fun, but after awhile it just became the same thing over and over again and I soon got bored ![]() Not played Brutal Legend due to Jack Black, hate the fella and avoid anything with him in Edited by dunkle, Mar 17 2010, 11:15 AM.

Hmmmn...played about 1.5 hours of AC2 and it's leaving me cold like the first one did. I think it might be to do with that whole "It's no good, I just don't like....." thing I've got going on for anything pre-lots of cars and guns and shit. |

PM'd you about ME2 m8. And yes, I've been left to review AvP (ta Sloppy ) and really don't know what to think of it. Atmopheric as fuck and excellent sound, but the funnest of the 3 campaigns (Alien) is so disorientating that it gives me a headache - like the upside-down bits in Prey did, or like trying out how to figure where you are using the map in a Metroid Prime game, or any part of good old Descent on the PlayStation - remember that? Wonder what the chances are of a this-gen remake? Yeah I got tired of it really quickly, but then found myself going back to it time and again. Ended up finishing it with 1000Gs as some of the 'challenges' were quite fun. It really made me question just how tedious the first AC must have actually been if this one had a lot more variation though. Cars, tanks, planes, choppers, guns, explosions, destructible scenery and boob-baring women might not make a game, but they don't half help it along. |

I've been playing FF13. I'm a bit torn, because I love my Final Fantasy's, but this changes the formula a bit too much for my liking. It does have those Squaresoft production values though, so being a graphics whore I'm plodding along. On that note, why doesn't my PSN I.D thing in my sig update itself properly? It's way out of synch with what I've actually been playing. I've also just received Metro 2033, which I'll dive into over the weekend. Other than that I keep returning to play a little more GTAIV and Rockband 2. Edited by Retrovertigo, Mar 18 2010, 04:13 PM.

Hmmmn - better put that Metro 1973 in my rental queue - it's linear rather than sandbox innit? |

Apparently it's very linear yeah - much more Half Life 2 style than Fallout 3, despite the similar setting.
