Well Lovefilm have sent me Resonance of Fate so thats a bonus, seems good enough for my tastes Juz I think you may be spot on about JC2 As an aside, but also slightly on topic I want to dedictaed a few days this leave to bosting my achievment score (yes I am a whore) but vast majority seem to either be (a) online achievments or (b) require multiple playthroughs Now the only game I could ever see me replaying is Batman and the only game I will really play online is BC2 so can anyone recommend any decent games (chances are they may be in my games draw) that I can load up achievments on playing single player through to completion I currently have ME2 to work through Edited by dunkle, Apr 24 2010, 12:21 PM.

Agreed, just get Just Cause 2, it kept me occupied for three weeks or more and I'll probably still go back to it to finish every last location, faction mission and race challenge off, it's just so much fun to play, and easy to drop into and drop out of. Blakey is doing the PS3 review but a few of us others cobbled together a 360 review from joint opinions and ended up giving it a 9, because although flawed we thought it was just too good and too darned pretty to be an 8 (and we don't do halves), which turned out to be one of the highest scores it got on Gamerankings. SS:C is actually probably the most dynamic and ummm... brightest SS game I've played, with a lot of imaginative daytime settings. The solo campaign is however rather short (although it has plenty of replay value due to the in-game scoring system that kind of builds on XBL achievements and PS3 trophies), but it has a sizeable multiplayer mode including a separate co-op campaign that has nothing to do with the solo story at all (and I think you can play it split-screen as well as online, which makes a nice change). But if it's a toss up beween the two, defo go solo and Just Cause 2 - parachute-grappling is the latest thing with all the young kids round our way - hopefully it'll be in the 2012 Olympics.
I got 1000Gs on Just Cause 2 and actually enjoyed it

Demo's out today, meant to download it earlier but Jocky 'n me got stuck in to Splinter Cell Conviction, which was a lot of fun, a heck of a lot better than I was expecting it to be. Although I think we are possibly the two worst 'stealth' agents on the planet - well, he is anyway.

I noticed that Neir is on the playlist at the moment, assume review on the way? This one seems to arrived with little or no PR. I'm really interested in this one and like the look and style. Also like the look of the platform and top down view sections - nice retro touch! So what are first impressions? Mind you with SSF4, Baynetta (yes late to the party), B: BC2 on current play list and Lost Planet 2 and Alan Wake both en route - it maybe a while until I get around to it. |

On the subject of "late to the party". Just finished Tomb Raider - Legend on the PSP. A bit meh cos I'd played and finished on the PS2 aeons ago. Not a bad game a few random PSP lockups though. Now playing GTA - Vice City Stories on PSP. Making the commute time a breeze. Stuck on a annoying mission at the mo though "Jive Drive" multi part mission where I get killed or lance gets killed right near the end of the gunfight, restart... try again.. |

Bioshock 2 Absolutely wonderful, like the first one. A completely fleshed-out game universe and always a pleasure to spend time visiting it. Even better than the first....possibly. Split Second Demo Yes....it could be Rumble Racing 2010. I have two more LoveFilm discs to play after Bioshock 2: Metro 2033 and Heavy Rain...talk about flitting between the do-anythingness of JC2 and then having these 3 story-led, completely linear ones on the bounce! I'm playing Nier at the moment. It certainly isn't going to be to everyone's tastes that's for sure. But I'm loving it personally. Graphics lack detail, but have this Ico/Shadow of Colossus vibe going on - almost dream like at times. Combat is a question of mashing the X button, coupled with various magic attacks you gain as well. I'm not that far into the story as I've been doing a lot of side quests, many of which are made up of the fetch/carry kind. With the odd thing thrown in like fishing. But they are made to feel a little more important by your character and the book having little conversations about them once they are accepted. It just gives them a bit more substance I think. Some of the bosses I have fought have been kinda cool, but the fights with them can go on for a long time! Voice acting is ok, apart from the book which is supposed to be English, but has an American doing this weird James Mason style voice. The music is fantastic, but loops around a little too quickly, which seems strange on a DVD based game. It is the total opposite of something like Final Fantasy 13, and the better for it I think. Some mistakenly thought this was going to be some kind of Devil May Cry clone, but it is very much an action RPG and shares more in common with something like Zelda. I'd wager it will plummet in price really quickly as it has had no exposure whatsoever, and to be fair, it does feel like it should be a budget priced game. Loving it though, and can't wait to get back to it later this evening. |

Not to mention three completely bleak gaming worlds. Funnily enough, I've been hopping between these two games recently. I've just finished Heavy Rain which, game or not, I found to be one of the most intense and enjoyable interactive experiences I have ever had. I loved the story and really cared about the characters. Some of the sequences where you're trying to save your character from death or help them complete their goal really feel like desperate struggles, even though they are mostly just QTEs. (BTW, my advice is, when you play it through, whatever happens, don't be tempted to go back and redo bits you think have gone badly - just enjoy the story as it unfolds for you.) I can't make up my mind about Metro 2033 and sometimes have to force myself to load it up. I love the setting and all the weird shit and using the Russian language option really adds to the atmosphere (even if the subtitles frequently don't actually reflect what is being said). However, I'm not finding the gunplay all that satisfying.

Cheers for the advice on Heavy Rain dude - I'll just play it out and see how it turns out. I need to finish Bioshock 2 (very near the end) first, and then I think I'll go with Heavy Rain, despite Metro 2033 being what I would consider to be my preferred choice. |

Interesting stuff Retro and can certainly see the reference to Ico and Shadow based on the vids/screen caps I've seen. Some of the giant shadowy hand type things defo looked Twighlight Princess(y) too. I'll defo be checking this one out. Thanks for the heads up |

One other tip: don't be put off by the first few scenes - they are very mundane and the odd scene in the middle of the game is too (e.g. changing a baby's nappy), but it's not long before the story really takes off. |

I'm still playing Just Cause 2. Somehow the limited range of missions isn't dampening my enthusiasm. It's a game that throws up something completely new each session which I guess is the reason for its longevity. I've also been playing Super Street Fighter 4 a fair amount (mainly to justify to myself the obscene amount I payed for a Mad Catz fight stick a year or so ago). The new characters are all interesting and add something new to the roster. It's been polished to within an inch of its life, and while all the action is online, I doubt I'll ever have the patience or time to dedicate to really mastering its complexities. Some of the videos on YouTube are so beyond my capabilities it's untrue. Away from the console the iPhone is my handheld of choice. Zombie Smash and PoolStar are both excellent diversions for 69p and BrokenSword plays like it was originally designed for a touch screen interface. |

I'm getting perilously close to abandoning Heavy Rain.....as glib as it sounds, to me this really IS like one, long (interactive) cutscene. When you do have control, it feels as clunky as fuck. I dunno, but with LoveFilm now sending me God of War III (with Metro 2033 still to play), I'm wavering like a wavy thing. |

It scares me when I read people on sites talking about Heavy Rain being the future of videogames, or that is will be a huge influence. I can't remember if I had commented on this before or not, but just for the sake of it: ok, I'll try and explain as best as I can. The game is full of stupidly tedious/complex button sequences, to hide the fact there is no actual game there! In point and click adventures you at least have puzzles, so interactivity with onscreen movement etc can be mimimal because you are using your noggin to work through puzzles. Heavy Rain doesn't even have the puzzles, so all the button presses for everything from taking a piss to drying a womans tits, are there because there IS NO GAME to speak of. I did retry several scenes again because either the pad didn't recognise my movements (which isn't the same as sticking with my "decisions") or because I couldn't fucking read what the choices were. The story also took huge leaps at times depending on what happened. I can't say why without spoilers. But assumptions are made with certain characters that obviously happened because certain scenes were skipped in my playthrough - that isn't anything like the same as a genuine woven storyline. I honestly don't get why it is held in such high regard. The writing is iffy at times, and the voice acting can be atrocious for some characters (motel owner I'm looking at you). |

Just for completions sake, as I posted in the bargains thread - but Nier is now £14.99 at GAME and I know Indie was kinda interested. http://www.game.co.uk/search.aspx?s=nier |
