FFXI, I'm really getting into this now, mainly thanks to NickC and Diddly, thanks guys :D

The rest of you should give it a whirl, it would be awesome with 7-8 FL members on :)

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

When this was first released I was in a gaming slump, I had a little dabble but then after a few missions didnt bother carrying on. I turned this on the other day and Oh My God... is all I have to say on the matter, the game has absolutely blew me away. To say its got me hooked is an absolute understatment.

Dont think I've ever seen a game so COMPLETE int he sense of being able to do so much... its like EVERY kind of game ever made, all rolled into one, but the perfection theyve gone to is shocking, by how good everything works.

Just completed San Andreas...

What a Game!!!, I cant believe I've left it sitting there for like 2years because it has been one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences i've ever had.

That last mission had my heart pounding!! made it out the building with 15 seconds on the clock... made me remember what I love about playing games.

Also, the whole Casino Hiest was absolutely amazing, the missions getting ready for it and the actual robbery itself left me stunned.

Anyone like myself who hasnt got into this or got a bit bored, I advise you to definately give it another go or if you havnt even considered it... you can pick it up for like 15 quid pre-owned now I think, worth every penny.

Theres not many games out there that I would class as a 10/10 game, but this is definately one of those very select few.

Had some spare time during the last week for some extra gaming so decided to trade in a few old titles and pick up some cheap second handers.

The Getaway - Black Monday
Being in the minority of people who enjoyed the original, I am beginning to enjoy this the further I get into it. I think it is mainly because of where I work, I am recognizing many of the streets I wander around on my way to work. Oxford street is NEVER that empty though. And why can't you skip the cutscenes when restarting a partially completed level

Driv3r
Takes me back to the original driver on the PSX. Early doors on this game so far. I am enjoying the driving sections. But is it me or are the controls on the on foot sections pitiful? I am getting killed so quickly on the on foot parts and having the repeat the driving to the location afterwards. Finding it pretty infuriating at the moment that I may not be bothered to load it again...

Red Dead Revolver
Hmmmm, a bit marmite this one. Not sure if I like it or not. Quite a unique look to it. A bit of an on rails game though. Only got up to pigjaws at the moment. Shooting the midgets is fun though.
Insert Coin.

That's interesting - what are everyone's charcaters called? And also what server are you on?

This game sucked up so much of my life a while back. My name was Bungle and I was on the garuda server, as a matter of interest (or not!)

Oh and I was a WHM Taru and reached the dizzying heights of level 54.

This game sucked up so much of my life a while back.

Which is why I won't let myself touch MMO's any more - I'll get completely absorbed in them to the detriment of life in general.

If any of you see me on FFXI, feel free to remind me of this.

My character is Axolotl on Diabolos, PLD18, RDM22, MNK30, BLM17, WAR23, WHM16. Currently levelling as PLD/RDM - great fun!

If anyone wants a World Pass for Diabolos, give me a PM.

I (sadly) created a Linkshell: FinalLevellers. Would be great to get a team together to level / skillup / mission / quest..... However, due to work and small children my availability is a bit sketchy - ask Diddly.....

Fahrenheit

I have always been an adventure game fan, so was expecting good things from this game and I am glad to say I was not disapointed, in fact it is one of the best games I have played in ages.
This game is the first game that gets even close to a good book or film for narrative and is an "Adult" game, not because of the nudity, but because of the way it is played, where the choices are between right and wrong, both having consequences.

My only real complaint is the heavy use of QTE, but at least you can watch the action scenes back afterwards.
I might even play it through again (which I never do) just to see another ending.

Heres hoping it wasn't a oneoff and there are some more like this to come.

Fahrenheit was a decent stab at an adventure game but I agree that the use of QTE was overdone. I loved the plot though and I can't wait to see what the developers come up with for the next-gen consoles. Going by their recent tech demo it could be something special.

Speaking of adventure games...

Broken Sword: The Angel Of Death

I've had a few technical issues getting this to run (it kept crashing after about 15 mins of play) but after fiddling with the settings I've got it running fairly stable.

The game itself, from what I've seen is great improvement on the last game both in puzzles and narrative. The well-rounded characters you'd expect from Revolution are in there and the story (so far) is an involving one.

The controls and camera do take a bit of getting used to and whilst not being perfect it does work.

There are a few glitches which I hope will be ironed out with a patch eventually but overall a very, very polished traditional adventure game which will satisfy those longing for something with a slower pace of gameplay. Great stuff!

I will have to try that one, as I have liked the previous Broken Sword games.

Have you played Dreamfall and if so was it any good?, I was thinking of buying this as I enjoyed The Longest Journey.

Yeah, I played Dreamfall on the X-Box, I traded it in the other week.

To be honest I was disappointed with it. The story was ok but I got a little bored with it in the end. I had the same problem with The Longest Journey so maybe it's the subject matter.

The voice acting is decent though and if you ignore the clunky stealth and combat sections you might enjoy it.

BTW had a bit more time with Broken Sword earlier and it keeps impressing me. Feels a lot more like the first game then any of the other sequels. :)

Zombies. Just thousands of zombies.

Finished it again for the third time today, and this time and had a totally different experience. More boss fights, crazy weapons, new achievements and a totally different ending. It sure keeps on giving. Next time through, another play time session will be had :)

Armadillo Run

Downloaded the demo from the website as it's only available online and I loved it. It's written by one guy, and it's a physics puzzle. It's almost the same premise as lemmings, you have only one armadillo though, rolled into a ball, who you have to get to safety using the most inventive and cheapest methods available to you.

It's pure, it's original and it's genius.

Been playing the new Broken Sword myself as well. I have always found these games to have a great sense of humour and this is no exception.

Oh and it has amazingly fast load times. As quick as maybe 5 seconds to load a level. All PC games should be like this!

Also dug out Shadow Hearts: Covenant for the PS2. I bought it cheap off a website a while back and never got around to playing it, and it's bloody fantastic. One of the best RPG's I have ever played, right up there with the Final Fantasy's. Although it can't quite reach the brilliance that was Dragon Quest 8.

Project Gotham Racing 2

Despite having the 360 most of my gaming time has again been going into this after me and my housemates started giving the multiplayer a stupid amount of time. Now we're locked in a battle to gold the career mode, which is something I couldn't do first time round. Currently I've fully golded the first 8 series I think plus Supercar and one cone challenge away from Grand Touring... that bloody American Muscle class is a fookin' pain though
