Apache Attack whatsit, thingy sweet jesus I'm finding it hard. I am near the start of the game where you need to defend some downed soldiers and I just can't do it :/ Part of the problem is that auto hover isn't working properly as far as I can tell, and I keep sinking groundward very quickly. I'm a bit lost as to how I might tackle it, and youtube doesn't have any videos as it hasn't exactly sold very well.

Yer not the only one m8. :sigh: I've been trying to grind a review out of this all week. The game has difficulty spikes everywhere. It starts off with you blowing stuff up all over the place and having a great time and then the designers obviously thought you were probably enjoying yourself too much so just slid the enemy spawns and accuracy slider all the way up. Daft cunts. I think I know the mission you mean, the other Apache gets shot down BlackHawk Down stylee? If you're sinking then it's probably down to a damaged engine, back off, gain lots of height and kill the fuckers with the 30mm through the DVO - FLIR (Oooh- get me getting all tekinikall!)

But it gets waaaaay harder than that. A Oil rig mission had me questioning my sanity, the developers sanity, their parentage and thinking that Halo Reach on Legendary was in fact, fucking easy compared to this. 16 missions in (it starts off dead easy, like so many of them - I think it's called "Turkey Shoot") your air to air missiles lock on and then miss 99% of the time (the makers must be delighted with their missiles being portrayed so) and the enemies spawn Hinds and Fire Scouts out of nowhere - and WHY THE FUCK have the enemy got Fire Scouts? Boeing must be dead chuffed at having their iconic gunship shot down so easily by what would presumably be Russian army surplus antiques and remote-controlled toy made by rivals Northrop. They should have the decency to do a patch with the difficuty sorted, or at least a single mission where you get to blow the living shit out of the Northrop factory, or fly to Russia and introduce Gaijin's studio to a ripple shot of Hellfires, either would do me fine.

The MP online Squad Ops are no better - IF you can find anyone to play with you have limited lives and no fucking chance of completing the tougher ones. Maybe we could try it together? I've only found 2 other people playing it, one was French so ran away after one mission and the other was a stoner Yank who just crashed all the time and giggled - I think he had the right idea though. A real shame. I want to see a video of someone completing this game, because I don't think it's possible. [ahole] S

Diddly, take a break from whinging about everything and give me some tips :P
If you bought it then trade it now m8, before it drives (flies?) you nuts.

And GT5 - This is truly confusing me. Level 14 and I finally got to bend a bumper/get some wrinkles on a car when crashing heavily. What a bag of shite. Didn't Kaz Yam say "we'd only include damage when it looked as realistic as the rest of the game?" What a crock. And yet, I turned the ABS and the traction control off and I'm having a whale of a time. Apart from the loooooooooooaaaaaaaaadiiiiiiiiiiiing, stupid menus, TICKETS... TICKETS...? FUCKING TICKETS...??? WHAT ARE THEY FOR?? - Used cars disappearing from sale just as I get a race series that needs them. Are all games developers except maybe Bungie, Rockstar, DICE and Criterion cunts???

Question: I just booted up GT Concept HD and noticed that the cars really do appear to float a good coupla inches above the track in replays - anything similar in GT5?
Hey - 'ave a look at this will ya?

I haven't anything like that m8, they look very well planted especially as the contour mats are far more complex than anything I've seen before (the Nordschliefe is truly amazing). The tracks have all sorts of undulations that lesser games just haven't bothered to put into a game.

And back to Apache Air Assault - booted this up yesterday to show my bro how hard and unfair it is (he was whining about Darkstar One or something, so I thought I'd show him real in-game nastiness) and naturally completed it while he was watching. Didn't do anything different than I'd done 20 times before, my air to air missiles still all missed, but I managed to shoot the fuckers down with the 30mm and rockets. The final mission was a doddle too, so maybe it's not as tough as I thought, or maybe I was just in the Danger Zone....

Well I returned to Bad Company 2 online and loved it - just how an online game should be
FUN and teamwork encouraged

Still very little cheating or boosting that I can see and even someone as bad as me can be made to feel as if making a difference

I really do fail to see the popularity behind the COD games online

Couldn't agree more Dunk, and don't denigrate yourself, you're still the best engineer I ever played with. Wish I had the time to play it more. Black Ops online just left me dazed and confused, if I wanted to die that quickly I'd go walk under a bus.

Its either Engineer or Recon for me (love the motion mines)

Best moments for me are walking behind an under attack tank repairing it as we go then jumping in to man the top gun and racking up serious points

It feels so much more constant and team based than any COD game
Cant wait for the Vietnam expansion - looks great

Hmmm, not sure whether to persevere with Apache then. I have had that phenomenon where when someone watches me do a part of a game I can't get through, I do it first time (usually happens on a twatty hard Rockband track) so might wait until someone is here.

Can you do local co-op and have someone fire the guns while I fly. I do love how it controls so part of me really wants to stick with it.

Yup, and there are two or three achievements for playing as a crew on certain missions too. I haven't been able to get anyone to tolerate my cool, clear communications with the gunner regarding tactical instructions and informing statements of attack plans and targets (aka hysterical screaming and piss taking) for more than 3 flights though, but even that got an achieve.

Really, really struggling through Fable III.

Progress is not technically difficult, it's just dull and doesn't have that 'one more task' addictiveness of the first two.

The moral choices so far haven't packed enough emotional wallop and too many characters are introduced too soon for you to be able to build up any interest in them.

Unless something drastically changes to the gameplay, I don't predict I'll see the end :-/

exactly how I felt - and it hit me very VERY early on
Worse than 1 and 2 and gave me no incentive to play

I still haven't played the original, despite buying both close to release! Honestly, I'm so behind with my gaming - I've got quite a few old games from this gen that haven't even been broken open.

I don't preorder games much any more - partly because I already have a backlog but also because the prices of games drop so quickly these days that it's a mug's game buying on release.

Gah!!!

Just had to come on here to rage about Fable III.

As you know it's been a struggle, but I was determined to see it through to the end if only to see if it picked up.

Without spoiling the plot, towards the end there is a countdown to an event, and you need to prepare for this event by carrying out tasks and gathering resources. In fairness it actually adds an element of intrigue and suspense to the game and I was starting to think my patience was paying off.

So halfway through the countdown, the event just happens. No warning, it just happens. So every decision you've made is rendered utterly redundant. To add insult to injury the final showdown is weak and a doddle to complete (I managed it despite only be strong in one area of combat).

Then the credits roll...

Was this game even play tested? I mean WTF is going on with the design choices there?

Nice way to kill your franchise dead with a single brain-dead decision.

Its mentioned in the GameTM that what starts of as a day by day week by week progression just turns into a 4 months and 4 months passing (or similar) thing bring the end forward far too quick

I just did not have the patience for it
