Yeah I played MOH and it WAS better than this shit, but I think I'm just bored of these po-faced shooters now. I bet, for all its faults that I end up liking Duke

I must admit I haven't minded Duke much at all so far. But two things have really pissed me off. Firstly, I was going for the achievement for keeping my gold pistol throughout the game. However, during one firefight I died and it respawned me minus the pistol :/ I loaded up the checkpoint and same again, two random weapons and no pistol. Seriously fucked off after gimping myself so far by only ever having one decent weapon. Second thing is the bosses - what the fuck were they thinking? Bosses that hit hard, and they have you fighting them in really confined areas with no cover to catch your breath behind. I have had to take a breather from it for now while I regroup to tackle it later. Interestingly I decided to watch the E3 2001 trailer for the game and it looked by far the more inventive game. God knows what happened to some of the ideas present. I suspect that maybe there is so much stuff that was worked on, that they are hoping to follow this up with a fairly swift sequel depending on how it sells. |

Fuck Duke, it's just a repetitive load of SHIT. I'm fast falling out of love with inFamous 2 too. Three lockups on two different PS3s, and I haven't had one of those on a PS3 for some time. It's the kind that means you have to switch it off at the mains too, it locks up solid. One when I'd just defeated a monster the size of a truck, no, a house ("The Devourer" I think it was called) and there was so much shit flying around the PS3 clearly just gave up and said "NO MORE", and another when I was fighting a helicopter gunship (again, a lot of shit flying around) and then a really bizarre one when Cole (second game in quick succession that I've played a character called 'Cole' - who's next, Porter? Nat King? Ashley? CHERYL?) just sticks on the end of a power line, which you're supposed to zip along, he just stuck there, tip-toeing like a demented cat on a hot tin roof, and again, no mission reset because no pause menu, another complete lockup. Fucking piece of shit. At least Duke doesn't do that. Yet. Oh, and didn't Cole used to recharge when zipping along power lines or tram line overheads? He doesn't anymore, and that makes no sense. |

Yes he did used to - it was an unlock later on. I'd read that this was an odd omission from the sequel. Weirdos! |

Just finished DNF and... Well I suppose I had some fun along the way, but that was inbetween the gripes, the gasps of horror at the general crapness and too-frequent platform sections..... and the waits for it to reload the last checkpoint (35-40 seconds every time you die, and on the normal "Lets Rock" setting I died more than in Crysis 2, Homefront, Red River and Sniper altogether I reckon.) Not dreadful, certainly not as dreadful as Eurogamer's 3/10 would have you believe anyway, but for fuck's sake don't buy this unless you have loads of spare cash or you're a fan of old-school, jerky, tacky, derivative shooters, or your name is Colin Nukem or something. |

The balance - or lack thereof - really started to piss me off in the game. You'd do long sections with no shooting whatsoever, then hit a section where you'd die god knows how many times. Made so much worse, as you say, by the loading times. But then the last boss was a piece of piss. Another years dev time to get it running smoothly on the Xbox, plus using some of the gameplay segments from older videos could have seen this be a half decent game I reckon. Crazy to think after all this time that the game feels rushed. |

It's verging on tragedy that DNF is bad after all these years. Oh well, I'll see for myself soon enough I guess. Anyway- finished inFamous all over again in prep for the sequel and loved every min. Now I'm just left with the quandary of whether to "head start" the sequel by using my good/evil trophies from it, or starting from scratch. |

I didn't have that option as the PS3 I had my game saved on went West. I'd use any help you can get m8 - the campaign is bigger than before with more side missions and you're almost certainly gonna wanna do it twice again. It's definitely a love/hate game for me (aren't all the best ones?); some fantastic enemies, some that possess really sneaky abilities and AI, and new melee combat that really kicks bottom... But sometimes either Cole's weird tendency to grab hold of things you didn't want him to, or the FUCKING camera, which zooms in even closer for zap-stick fighting, totally fucks you up the ass so you die. It's also pretty tough in places and many missions (and boy, do some of them go on for a while) seem to require at least one death for me to figure out how to best do it/what not to do, but then. the checkpoints are fairly generous. I guess the original was the same. It's a VERY good game, but has made me go WTF? THAT'S FUCKING MENTAL! on a few occasions. A bit like the wife.

Yeah mon, it's a good game for sure. I started on Evil again as I literally cannot help but kill civilians...on purpose. There's something about these games that just clicks for me. I'm still on first area and have only encountered the militia thus far. |

You gotta love a game that gives you an (evil) karma boost for killing street entertainers. If only... |

the first inFamous still hasn't grabbed me I'm afraid. I just find it a bit ......dull. So far I haven't done much more than climb the odd building (which I'm finding extremely frustrating as he doesn't always grab hold of something that looks grabbable) or go down in the sewers (I swear I have spent more time there than in the city). I'll stick with it a little longer as I have only just picked up the ability to skate along power lines. Oh and managed to get the electric grenade thing which might help with the annoying enemies. I do like some of the little touches. I'm a sucker for open world games that make shops actual shops with some depth to them. To be honest - and this will sound weird - I think part of the problem is that it is on the PS3. I hate the pad and whenever I have it switched on, I just think about what I could play on the 360 instead. |

I've been trying to play Red Faction Armageddon, but it's just not right. Adored Guerilla, but ditching the open world (WTF?!) combined with the addition of twitch gaming (thanks to swarms of generic monsties) has turned this into just A N Other shitbox game... actually feels like a really poor film tie-in. Re: Duke - I downloaded the demo, played it, removed it from LoveFilm list. Bon is right. I'm currently playing another (they seem to be breeding) "Let's pretend the last x years of gaming evolution never happened" game in the form of Alice: Madness Returns. |
