Can they fuck you over that badly? According to Games TM, there's Indictments that you can apply against peeps like that...or I could just unplug my Ethernet cable?

I've no idea to be honest mate. I know that people can come into your game (I assume you can restrict that) and many people take advantage of that to team up on difficult bosses. But I think people can just as easily turn on you. Whether they can do more damage, like steal armour and whatnot, I have no idea. But death in itself is a big setback in the game and so I'd be fucking fuming if some dick ruined my game.

Trouble is, that while connected to the net, you get to read the various notes people can leave around the world warning you of impending doom, of just giving advice in general.

Bit too busy with other games to try it at the minute, but will pick it up if it plummets in price. I suspect a lot of people new to the game will be returning it pretty quickly because of the difficulty. That should drive prices down.

Played more of Rage and I love it to be honest. Really liking the mix of Fallout-esque towns and the shooting areas. It makes me wish that Fallout had this level of detail to it. The flip side being that Fallout has a day/night cycle (which this game sorely misses I think) and characters who have a routine.

But still, the nice mix of things to do is keeping me interested in this. Plus I've read that it lasts a lot longer if you bother to do the side missions. I'm reading of people having spent 15+ hours on the first disc (cue Diddly popping by and declaring them mentalists :) )

Also dipped my toe into Gran Turismo 5 again since the Spec 2 update yesterday. It's a 1.5 gig+ plus download if you grab the new intro movie as well.

It speeds things up a tiiinnyyy bit in menus - but loads tracks up a lot faster. It does still take time to load up the cars to get racing though.

Also interesting to see they are doing DLC for the game now, and have announced Spa as the first DLC circuit - with weather effects :) See Turn 10, this is how you appease fans, giving them a great circuit instead of adding shit like the new version of Hockeheim and then trying to justify it with bullshit excuses.

I tried playing GT5 again the other day....fuck you, loading times!

Oh, and fuck you, giving me a token for a car and then making me come out of what I'm in, go into something else, press buttons etc etc to actually GET the fucking thing.

Hmmm @ Rage...I'm SOOOOOO tempted on this, but have Dark Souls and Resistance 3 coming from LoveFilm now, and have been playing Fallout NV all over again...I love you, Fallout!

Do you love the disk swap mess that the first patch produced too? What a fucking joke.

All these years and you don't know me at all, do you?

My game has 24 hours on the clock at the finish, and although the end does rush up a bit suddenly (you don't really need to hoard ammo on "Normal" at all), those declaring the campaign could be completed in 10 hours must be fucking weirdos, because even if it's possible (which I doubt) I don't see why or how you'd ignore the mini games, races and job board missions.

Not going to appease all the people who sold the game, their PS3 in disgust and bought a 360 for superior versions of NFS Shift 2, DiRT 3, F1 2011 and of course Forza 4 though is it m8? I don't know too many people who feel Yamauchi & Co. have appeased anything with year-too-late partial fixes.

It's horses fir courses, but I fuckin can't stand GT5 which now, with it's 1 odd GB patch "allows" me to attribute thumbnail pics of cars in my garage that DID have thumbnail pics before a PREVIOUS enormo-patch removed some of em for no fucking reason at all.

Guess I just feel like Forza's the better game pour moi.

Luckily, I didn't buy Dark Souls but rented it instead. This game is just hard for the sake of it; the biggest example of which is that you can't actually pause it anywhere...you need to find a safe spot and just go do what you need to do. Great if you're an unemployed hermit, I suppose.

I've honestly tried to carry on with it, but this just seems cuntish just for the hell of it.

Yeah, it is clearly a game where you are meant to chip away and then start to get your satisfaction from finally making progress. I must admit that watching people play on Justin.tv (when they do well) still has me interested. When you see a guy use every trick at his disposal to despatch a huge boss, it looks very satisfying indeed. More so because they genuinely need to adopt tactics into the equation and not just charge in while spamming healing spells or whatever. But as you say, if you have any kind of family life, then a game like that is probably not for you.

Started on Forza 4 yesterday and it really is very nice indeed. It doesn't look half as good as all the screenshots posted though sadly. It is quite jaggy in places. I suspect there is less fancy processing going on in order to accommodate the extra cars on track. And the A.I so far, has been as poor as I had read. I'm leaving them in my wake, and I'm playing with all assists off and the hardest settings. It does this dynamic A.I thing and I swear you can see them adjusting their speed mid-race. Pity, as the career is a seriously long one and having it this easy throughout will make it quite the chore.

It's nice that it throws a ton of money and cars at you though, so you don't feel pressured to grind the same old races (Gran Turismo!) to get enough cash to join the later races.

I suppose online will be where it really shines when decent opponents come into play. It is a shame about being restricted to one car club in-game though. I've already put my name down on a forum I frequent and have already had guys on my friends list ask me to join their clubs and had to turn them down. Not sure I like having to pick and choose like that, when it is only a bit of fun after all.

Had another stab at Dark Souls before giving up and I just can't be fucking arsed tbh. Got in an endless loop of dying/restarting/immediately dying cuntish bullshit and gave up. That whole single save where WE want it bullshit is just so fucking antiquated to me and just user-unfriendly for the sake of it.

I'll leave it to the hardcore!

Its not really hardcore, its just, well "different" and in these days of nearly every game being the same as the last its refreshing

Im finding it easier than Demon Souls (possibly down to fact I prefer the 360 controller)
I do agree that the menu / interface is awful and dont think think this was done to increase difficulty more that its one of these Japanese type games that never bother with the jazzy front end etc - a pause button would be very good though

I have just got to level 17 - got my strength up to 16 and got the Drake Sword which helps with a 200 attack
Got the Grass shield that boosts your speed so thats also helped and managed to beat the Taurus Demon

It is a difficult game but its a good one maybe just not one you play for hours on end
Its rather puzzle game in style where you have to plan your attacks for each enemy and plan your destination and return route

I agree with some of the reviews, it is rather old school where you are given this world and left to discover what to do with it

I prefer it to Rage which really has bored me. Go to location, do something, return, repeat

Its a shame as it does look good but just seems so so dull.

Mind 4 days time it will all be a pointless debate as Batman drops through my letterbox :)

My purchase of Dark Souls lies with one crucial piece of information. Can those ridiculously massive unsightly icons be switched off? I've seen some shit huds, but having icons that take up a quarter of the screen is fucking ridiculous.

Icons. What icons.
The screenshots in some magazines make the weapon selection things look huge but there not and once playing you hardly notice them
Being invaded is also not a huge issue. Level 16 and not been invaded yet and if i am. Well i can always disconnect from live lol

I'd say that intrusive screen icons will be the least of your worries.

Word of advice if you do get it: don't attack the whining cunt at Fireside thingummy (first place once out of Asylum)

As a plasma owner, and someone who would potentially play the game for hours, I don't fancy those ginormous icons burnt onto my screen no matter how temporary it might be.

Just loading mine up now as swear playing a different game with mention to the icons and screen burn etc

Im playing on a 50" Panasonic G10 and have never (since having the set) suffered any screen burn from anything (be it watching movies for hours on end, football with the score or countless games) esp in Dark Souls

As it loads im trying to think what icons you mean and guess is the ones that refer to your equipment on the main screen, something I have to say I dont think I notice when playing

Its only now, that you have mentioned them, that I have actually seen how big they are lol, at no point up til now did they honestly register, yes they are big but they dont impeed

Also the menu and equipment screens are bad, but its just I think because so much was put into the game

Think everyone knows im a fussy gamer and have countless (dozens and dozens) of games that I have maybe only played once for a couple of hours, but dark souls is just a drip fed game

so much to do, so many ways to do it

Juz im guessing you have tried one of the "harder" down or across routes (ghosts or skeletons) rather than upwards and the undead burg as nobody should really struggle until the first undead burg bonfire you get to
