My plans have totally fallen through this past week for some good gaming sessions thanks to my TV breaking. I've got a loan 32 inch Samsung LCD (which looks tiny after being so used to my own set), but the picture quality on it is fucking awful.

I know I'm being a bit mental, but it feels wrong sitting and playing stuff on it when it all looks so rough and ready. So I've satisfied myself with playing older stuff on the PSP and also Letterbox on the 3DS - sifting through the numerous cock and ball pics people are sending to see some truly funny pictures from some friends.

If you've got an older mid range PC, maybe it's a good time to pick up some old classics on Steam?

Keep getting the urge to get a PSP or a 3DS but I know I wont use it after the first week...

My P.C is pretty old now (it plays Half Life 2 pretty well which is the last game I played on it!) Trouble is with the P.C, my damaged left hand struggles to use the keyboard for playing games. It gets really painful so despite there being some good stuff on there, I tend to avoid it.

Just reading through some of the older Skyrim posts regarding grinding to level up before tackling the core mission quests. I've been playing (and fooking loving) Demon and Dark Souls - absolutely amazing games, but massively hard! One has to grind out for a 'looooong time' and that’s not even doing side quests or anything, literally just grinding to get more souls (in game currency) to level up so you have even half a chance of progressing. That said combat in Dark Souls is so bloody good it's not so much of a chore at all.

I've been doing the main missions in Skyrim and am at a point where I need to back off top level up. Basically I'm going down the two handed heavy amour route and I'm simply still too weedy to progress much further. Bit of a pain really as I am really enjoying the story and hope the hours ahead won't interrupt the flow too much.

Must be good as I've parked a nearly complete Skyward Sword to play this.

Oh and Juzzyspunk, no idea why this is dragging me in more than Oblivion (and Fallout 3 for that matter). Maybe I'm just higher on the nerd-o-meter at the moment!

Yeah, could be - could be that we're all just getting older and sadder?

Fuck knows why it's working for me, cos I hate this type of universe as a rule; I think it's just cos it all *works* so well, and really looks nice and solid. There is a very real sense of exploration and an almost completely unmatched sense of "do what you want, when you want, at your own pace" to it that Fallout 3 had as well.

The fact that I invested 50 hours as a mage and have now spent the last 35 or so just as an epically good archer who never touches magic, and will probably go back to magic now that I picked up some fucking amazing mage's robes in a dungeon somewhere is just astonishing to me.

I'd also like to point out that I just happened upon a side-quest that involved solving a murder, medieval-style! properly different from everything that had happened before. Some "dungeons" (for want of a better word) are just astonishingly different to the rest as well.

Occasionally, but that usually just results in me annoying someone.

On phone so quick reply, will add more thoughts when in front my laptop at work tomorrow.

All I will say is I just joined the thieves guild in riften and all I had to do was rough up a few locals. I'm feeling quite hard at the moment. In a tough guy kinda way that is.

You've got a hard-on after roughing up some peasants!

Thieves Guild rocks. I'm at 85 sneak, 73 pickpocket, and can thieve like a mofo...not even close to finishing their quest line yet, and haven't even started the Dark Brotherhood shit.

I'm starting to get concerned that I may be avoiding quests too much now as some of my stats are waaay high, so will get back to that shit ASAP.

Hard-on after roughing up innocents - dirty weirdo!

I knew there was something I kept missing. I've been playing as pretty much a goody goody and haven't been pickpocketing. But I need that shit leveling up to get the 100 extra boost to my carrying stat.

Can't wait to properly get back into this game. Nothing better than sneaking around and one hit killing bandits with an arrow to the head.

Its not weird. Wearing a nappy whilst being nursed by a 40 stone dominatrix is weird. Don't knock it until you've tried it I say.

More Skyrim thoughs soon. Mrs Indie harrasing to search for Wedding venues, bah.

Pffft! Lightweight!

Wedding venues eh? MUCH more interesting than Skyrim. Good luck with that.

Yes, tres fun looking ... ahem! Well we're currently looking at Marylebone Town Hall/Registry Office and a nearby boozer reception, to the local Church and a Marquee in the garden/house party. Either way, with two kids and not exactly a young courting couple - the big white wedding and fancy pants reception is not on the cards! Just so long as the kids are heavily involved, we'll be happy.

So, Skyrim. Well have to say it's a tad intimidating at times. As I don't have the hours to invest these days, I can see this staying on the play list for a very long time. I seem to be accumulating a vast number of missions/objectives and not actually clearing too many! That said I totally ripped my way through the Goldenglow Estate last night and mutilated the Dark Elf who wouldn't part with a safe key - chump. Much admiration from my Thieves Guild colleagues - wasn't that tough really, for all their big talk they couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. Still if they did all that stuff themselves, it wouldn't make much of a game.

So, I have come to a point where I seriously need to level up as I have completed pretty much only core narrative objectives. Consequently every where I go a dragon is waiting to make mince meat of me and only being level 9, I'm getting creamed within seconds. So some wandering, side missions and general grinding to be done me thinks.

I also tinkered with an alchemy lab las night and was making all number of potions with various plants and insects I've collected! No big deal, but just goes to show the staggering amount of shit you can do!

Question, if I wanted to switch to pointy hat, magey type dude? What do I need to start doing a bit of pyromancy etc? And is it easy to change direction once you've invested time into one particular class?

Absolute piece of piss to change class; quite simply - get yourself some "Books/Spelltomes: Learn xxxx" from pretty much any shop, read em and you've suddenly got youself some spells. As with everything else, the more you do em (successfully ie on a target), the more they level up. I believe that every class can do every spell.

Easy-peasy lemon-squeezy.

I can't believe I'm about to write this next bit:

I am a Dark Elf with pretty high (40+) skills in most magic and just about every spell at my disposal. I levelled up Magicka for most of the first 20 or 30 level-ups, but then changed to make Archery my thang, and I'm at nearly 80 Archery with shitloads of perks in it (and in Sneak, so that you can get the 3.0 x sneak attack bonus), I can one hit kill a Giant, and 2 hit kill a Mammoth. Dragons can take a few hits, but as long as you move around a bit, they're a piece of piss. I have about 12 Shouts with 19 Dragon Souls still sitting there unused.

Remember - find yourself some charmed-up necklaces/rings/clothes and suddenly your skills go through the roof - I wear all sorts of Archery-improving stuff and there's an equal amount of trinkets for Magicka.....

You're a gent, thanks. I will look into that as I feel a sense of direction coming on.

By the way ...
