Oh dear. Second major quest bug in Skyrim. Tried workarounds, so there goes me finishing the Thieves Guild quest line ![]() Motherfucker....100+ hours in.....oh well, I guess it's only one part rather than a "main" part eh? Edit: there might be one more thing I can try (finish an entire other questline that I'd started but not finished).....that'll be a shitload more to do. Edited by Juz, Jan 9 2012, 10:32 PM.

Just an update to the glitched Skyrim quest. It's unfucked now but had to go back to a waaaaaaaay old save and completely finish another quest first!!!! Tip: before trying to finish a certain Thieves Guild quest involving speaking to Enthir, make sure you don't have the Staff of Magnus quest ongoing. |

Cheers for the heads up. I'm currently playing through the Theives Guild quests and assumed I was close to finishing. But seems I have much more to do. Spoilers ..... I'm in the Dwarven Halls chasing down Mercer and am now a fully fledged Nightingale. Sweet Armour to boot! I thought this would be the last mission, given the promise of being the guild leader once mercer finds is dealt with. Also got my mitts on the Blade Armour which is as tough as nails, but offers no perks - so sticking with Nightingale Armour for now. ALso, I'm playing through on PS3 (where I do all my gaming these dasy) and am starting to see massive issues with frame rate/stuttering. Sucks - but patch due this month by all accounts. Finally, I really need to play something else soon and take a break as this is all consuming! Still, everytime I try I cave in and fire Skyrim up. Buggy as shit, but for all that I can't stop playing it! |

Yup. 105 hours in and it's still the gaming equivalent of sucking your thumb/clutching a comfort blanket/resting head on boobage.... or that might just be me *ahem* |

Lollage - I was gonna do the same thing! Anyhoo - I do have an update: 120+ hours in to Skyrim and finally restored the Thieves Guild to its former glories (among myriad other things), now on to the Dark Brotherhood I think....at some point, I might head back to the actual story. Gave up on MW3 that I was playing extremely sporadically in single player....FPS's of this nature just ain't lighting my fire for very long - Bulletstorm was the last one that I really enjoyed and that kept me coming back. |

I'm really missing Skyrim at the moment. I just wish I could play something. In fact that isn't strictly true. I stuck my old xbox on and have been playing Shenmue 2 in the bedroom of an evening on my old CRT 21 inch TV. How did we ever manage playing games on these old things? Seems like such a long time since I played a game in such a low resolution - apart from when I play on the Wii of course

Christ, it's like a bloody tomb round 'ere! Anyway - I'd just like to the thank The Law Of Diminishing Returns for afflicting the only OTHER PS3 exclusive that I gave even vaguely 2 shits about - Uncharted Wow - the voice acting is still as fantastic, but I swear there was a 10 minute cutscene in there at one point, and the relentless "climb/escape setpiece/shootout" schtick got so repetitive that I've abandoned it halfway through; I had absolutely zero interest in how this played out. Well done! I've now got Saints Row 3 back again (thanks, LoveFilm) as I don't think I gave it a fair go, and I've also got Neverdead waiting to go....but that's had some proper SHIT reviews, so here's hoping! |

Well I'm slowly getting back into gaming now that I have a replacement TV and have quite a backlog to catch up on. I've kinda got bored with Resident Evil: Revelations though. Actually bored is the wrong word, I got frustrated as I didn't buy the circle pad pro for my 3DS and I think a game like this really really needs it. So I'll be back here in the next few days bitching about everything again

Predictably, NeverDead is a scrappy old thing that wasn't really worth a rent. |

I borrowed The Darkness II and finished it over the weekend (needed to give it back today). Thoroughly enjoyed it, although it loses a lot of what I enjoyed about the first game. Namely the downtime as you explored the "open world" of the first game. I kinda liked wandering the quiet night time streets in the first game - only moving on once I was good and ready. But aside from your mansion in this game, it is totally linear. Plus they have altered your powers and how you access them. It is still a good enough game (although at around 5 hours long it is definitely a rental) but loses the atmosphere that made the first game stand out from the crowd. I haven't seen it discussed much on gaming forums and I suspect it may well not have sold that well - what with the game being so short and the co-op mode only being roughly 2 extra hours of content, or so I'm told. Not sure why devs think they can get away putting out such short games these days, when times are hard and gaming being an expensive hobby. It's worth playing the game if you can rent it, for sure. Oh and the graphics look pretty nice with that cell shaded look. But I do prefer the plasticiney look of the first one. |

Been playing NeverDead too as no one else wanted to review it, and yeah, with some amusing and exciting possibilities it falls flat very quickly. Review will be up shortly. Battlefield 3 is the only thing that keeps drawing me back at the moment, a truly great online FPS that just keeps getting better and better, rather than making you do the same thing over and over and over and over again ad nauseam like the inexplicably popular MW3. Shame it seems to have developed more quirks since the monstrous (2Gb) update. Been grinding away at Halo Anniversary to boost for a few of the harder/dafter achievements and while I think they could have done so much more with it and avoided a few annoyances (this proves that sometimes a remake can be too faithful), the sheer fact that I'm still playing it proves how great the original game was. |

Keep toying with bunging Halo in my rental queue. Have got Darkness 2 in there despite finding the demo a big bit lame. Just looking at this year's releases ain't getting me that jammed, but I may have said that this time last year? |

After the crappy time I've been having so far this year, I've treated myself to a 3G Playstation Vita. It's a lovely piece of kit and there are some great downloadable games available for pretty good prices. For example, Motorstorm RC was £4.79 and you get the PS3 version free. So far, I've been putting my time into Uncharted, a franchise I've never played on PS3. For a handheld game (and a launch game at that), it looks gorgeous (almost PS3 standard), and the gameplay is fun, if nothing earth-shatteringly original. Once I've managed to work out why my 3G card won't top up, I'll get my code for a free copy of Wipeout 2048 and give that a go. In the meantime, I've got Motorstorm RC, Escape Plan, Hustle Kings and Little Deviants to try. |
