R6: Vegas - i'm not sure about it. The trigger for cover is much better than GoW, but it lacks "feeling", as is so by the numbers in many respects. Tried online and did not like (re)spawn multiplayer at all. The Terrorist Hunts and co-op is good, as was single-player, if a little bland. It has a bunch of little issues, but my main problem is it dosent push boundaries much and lacks the wow factor Gears has.

Gears of War - online is now full of point-whoring bastards in ranked games, and player games has bastards that have all their achievments and so are owning people that just want a friendly game. Really needs a patch to adjust grenade tagging and melee and make cover & mid-ranged shooting a tad better. Also the lag compensation needs tuning badly. It's still great, but shows more and more it was pushed out too early.

Tomb Raider: Legends - Really enjoying this. Lara is back and bouncing about like the old games. Not perfect but fun with a touch of nostalgia.

Played other bits and pieces too, but thats the main stuff. I have so many games outstanding to play it might be June before i work thru them all, especially since the Mrs has decided to "have a quick go at that horsie game", and decided she actually quite likes Oblivion. Unfortunately she is pretty awful at it (having not played games pretty much ever) and causes me pain as she attempts to fight off a single rat, which takes 5 minutes of looking at the ground/sky and healing and swinging and missing over and over, and then picking each and every flower along her path...

I have a similar problem - several unplayed games (well, lots if you count all the last gen games I accumulated but will probably never play), but I can't get Mrs Z off Wii Play!

This Xmas I have mostly been playing with my Wii. I'm almost ashamed to say that I didn't touch the power button on my 360. However based on the views above I think I'll give R6V a go soon.

Wii Play

I played this once and it hasn't come out of the box since. The 'where's Mii' game is awful beyond words.

Wii Sports

One of the finest launch games ever to grace a console IMO. If you look beyond the boxing and concentrate on the training modes there's real depth. Target golf is a joy. Can anyone beat my score of 725?

Zelda

Beautiful. I take back everything I said about it being Occarina of Time 1.5.

Red Steel

Not as butt-ugly as some of the reviews have said. It takes an age to get used to the controls but once you do it's brainless fun. The sword fighting is great.

Rayman Raving Rabbids

Great fun in multiplayer and some bizarre french humour thrown in. I expect this will be forgotten once Wario comes out in a few weeks.

Agree with you on COD3 - after the delight that was COD2 the third one is awful so far

It's pretty depressing, isn't it?

It SHOULD work, and it's got some truly beautiful looks, and the battles COULD be awesome...but it just doesn't seem to gel does it?

And once you factor in the genuine problems (shite AI, sticky scenery, smoke not actually working etc. etc.) it actually becomes a 5 or 6 out of 10 game.

I can't comment about the online aspect as I've still yet to try it, but I don't think that even an astounding online aspect can make up for a totally shit single player experience if that's what you bought the game for primarily.

Just to add to your misery, it seems that new maps released for COD3 do not even work. It was 800 points and not even a free map pack.
How can that get through not only the developer testing, but also MS checking it, before it goes online.

That's fucking disgraceful innit?

But, being a dyed-in-the-wool tightarse, I doubt I'll ever pay for DLC, so will have to be vicariously indignant ;)

I've been playing FFXII and it's bloody great. Oh and I have flashed my PSP to play PSOne games. Been working through FFVII again, plus browsing old games I never got around to completeing all those years ago.

Finally, FINALLY, my PSP justfies it's price tag - and it's playing old PSone games that has done it!

Wario Ware- Smooth Moves

I'm loving and hating this in equal measure.

When it works, it's brilliant. It's totally mad and the Wii-mote is used in countless imaginative ways. The "sexy" voice that explains the various techniques with the Wii-mote is very funny, especially as some of the dialogue is bordering on the rude!

However, I've lost count of the number of times that I've lost a life (or a level) because the Wii-mote decides not to respond at all. It seems to happen on some games more than others - for example, I dread the game where you have to run paper through a shredder because I just know that the bloody thing will stop responding just as I'm about to finish it. I'm going to try moving the sensor to see if that makes a difference.

Other disappointments are that you can't play the multiplayer until you've completed the single player and, in any case, all of the multiplayer games are turn based rather than simultaneous play.

I can't stop playing it, though.

Crackdown demo

I can't stop fuckin playing this!

It's like *ahem* Crack or summink.

Incidentally, tried to go back to Dead Rising and ended up hating it all over again after 10 minutes - then went back to PGR3 and found it tedious after a similar amount of time.

Weird, huh?

I can't stop ------ playing this!

Am I missing something when it comes to Crackdown?

Really can't get into it the demo at all, despite a couple of attempts at playing it.

I've felt the same, but I often find that a demo won't hold my attention and then go on to love the full game. I'm less sure about Crackdown, because my track record with sandbox games is not good. I got bored of the GTA games (except Vice City) very quickly, for example.

The key I think is to not play it, but to play *with* it.

Go climb up some buildings to get agility orbs so that you can jump a load higher, then you can bound around like crazy, making your way up some really tall buildings, before throwing yourself off the top and denting the ground upon landing.

Or spend some time beating up perps to increase your strength - you can then kick a guy 15 ft in the air and shoot him. Or throw a car at him.

The game itself is pretty dull.

I see what you're saying.

It's more of a game to mess around with rather then play level by level but usually if a demo doesn't do it for me straight away then I won't be shelling out for the full game.

Same situation with Saint's Row. The demo was a bit naff too IMO and whilst I'm being controversial (?) I must say that the latest Zelda feels like a bit of a let down.

It feels too by the numbers for me, same old style of levels and the graphics whilst obviously not as important on the Wii/Gamecube do seem to lack that 'something' I was so fond of with Windwaker which I must say I prefer, even including the endless repetitive sailing sections!

Still, on a positive note I have been having fun with Lost Planet (up to the final boss now) and even though you do end up swearing at the screen a lot of the time, it is a welcome challenge for people like me who are used to playing games on easy :)

I have been enjoying the hell out of this too.
I actually think its criminally underrated and its the best (as in fun and addiction)360 game I've played in a while.

Some of the triple firefights (between aliens, ice pirates and me) have been awesome with explosions and smoke everywhere and I love toppling towers and the men perched upon them with deadly ordinance.

Got a bit of everything this one. Mountain climbing, huge bosses, bomb dropping bugs, firefights, mechs and atmosphere.

Simple yet varied enjoyment that has never felt restricted and 'corridored' in for a mission based game.
