I'm currently playing Silent Hill Downpour and Lego Harry Potter years 5-7, and I have to say that the bespectacled one is significantly more enjoyable than the damp one. |

I always start off really enjoying the Lego games, but usually somewhere around the halfway mark I get bored silly with them as it dawns on me how repetitive they are. It never stops me trying new ones though. I'm pretty much at the end of Mass Effect 3 now after doing the online stuff to get my stats ready for the last fight. I have to say that the kinect voice stuff is still making the game so much better to play. I went back to ME2 to finish off the story with a separate character and the stop start nature of the fights seems so annoying now. Talking to the TV really does make it feel very different. |

Yar - ditto on the Lego games. Also, for me they are THE worst games for "What the FUCK am I supposed to do next?!?!?!?!" syndrome which I find amazing considering that they're aimed at kids. |

Completed Mass Effect 3 and it was very much just doing so for the sake of it Far from being an RPG - its Gears of War with a decent story which you can interact with I did find it very "easy" though - both in terms of combat and getting the story you wanted to suit your character You only ever really have two choices - the top right being the "good" one - the bottom right being "bad" with the very rare occasion to use the special outcomes KoTOR did it all so much better so many years ago. It actually was an RPG Mass Effect is an RPG in the same way as Football Manager is - you play a role in a game An RPG for me should have a lot more stat customisations and ability to go off track. Of all the Mass Effect games this felt the most linear The combat, well with the exception of a couple of places where you have to choose a team mate to do something I never noticed my team mates at all. Im not sure if they ever made a difference and I never bothered giving them any orders at all. Just repeated use of "throw" and "warp" seemed to do all that was needed. I had 200% bonus to regen speed plus about another 100% with research and armour bonuses. I could use throw with almost zero warm up needed. I never bothered with any weapons other than the assault rifle either. That said though, I did enjoy it for what it was Oh and the endings ? terrible - I really did not think that the pay off I got had any real reflection on over 100+ hours of gaming (all 3 titles together) Tip for you, to see all 3 endings at once, just turn the colour down on your tv Edited by dunkle, Apr 7 2012, 09:07 AM.

The team mates in Mass Effect don't really come into their own unless you do an insanity playthrough. Then it starts to become crucial who you take along depending on what enemies you might face and what biotics will help you. I'm playing through it a second time just for the sake of finishing off my renegade female shepard and actually it is surprising how renegade options don't always go the way you expect. One small example is Kelly from ME2 and choosing renegade is the way to deal with something to do with her. There are a few other times throughout the game where it isn't quite as cut and dried as you might think. Not making excuses for the game as I think it is the weakest of the trilogy. It really needed some hub areas to give you downtime and collect side quests that actually had some meat to them. I've been having a quick play of Silent Hill HD and they just don't seem to make games like this anymore. I think they created some excellently spooky games with the early ones - especially in the sound direction department. It is a shame that the devs who did this really made quite a mess of the conversion though. |

Regards mass effect 3 Guy at digital fix states has done two play throughs of the trilogy One with full parago shephard saving everyone he could The other a renegade who let everyone he came in touch with die My all accounts the overall differences are minimul and this does not suprise me The more i think about it the games are much more linear than they make out with most of the freedom actually being an illusion I took advantage of the game extra trade deal and bunged mine with another 29 games from my cupboard and got myself a vita Uncharted is as good as the ps3 games and i love those and fifa is the best version i have played due to the rear touch scren being the goal. Very clever use of the technology and ensures some great goals Cant see me buying anything else to play on it unless they do something like a new batman game for it or similar |

Ummm, I think the linearity directed at Mass Effect is a little harsh to be honest. Sure, if everyone dies they are simply replaced by other characters in ME3 - although not all are. But yeah, the story still plays out in a similar fashion. It's in the small touches really where you see personalisation based on your actions. Conrad Verner being a prime example. It's a nice bit of fun seeing his little role play out depending on what you did all the way back to the first game with him and another character. There is only so much they can do though, as the flow charts for the game must be a nightmare as it is - not to mention how hard bug testing must be. I can't see the next gen consoles improving on that either, as simply creating higher resolution graphics is going to suck up development time. |

Started playing Silent Hill: Downpour last night and to be honest it isn't bad at all so far. I'd seen some screenshots posted on a forum before it was released, with people saying it looked like a PS2 game blah blah. But really, it looks fine. The only slight fly in the ointment so far are some chase sequences where a red vortex chases you down and you have to leg it. I fucking hate shit like that and it starts to spoil what should be a slow paced creepy game. I'm hoping there aren't too many of them as I think I'll rather enjoy it otherwise. I also finished off Xenoblade Chronicles. I know rpg's don't have any fans here, but I absolutely loved it. Such a huge beautiful game and I clocked in at 130 hours game time. It's up there with games like Fallout and Oblivion for value for money. |

Downpour plays like a PS1 game though m8, and despite some decent main character models it does look PS2-ey at times too with its non-existent draw distance and repetitive textures. Slow-paced and creepy it may be, but it's like Resi 5 and Alan Wake never existed, there's nothing new on show here apart from a new door opening mechanic, which never actually seems to be used as I thought it would be. In many respects the creatures from the earlier games were scarier, and definitely more disgusting. There have been a couple of decent puzzles to where I got before finally needing a respite, but I've not been scared as much as bored shitless with the aimless wandering and looking for another stick/axe/shovel/crowbar to twat the identical creepies with (terrible, vague and unsatisfying melee combat too btw), it feels so flippin' OLD.

It is turning out to be one of those games I enjoy despite itself. I really don't think it looks that bad though to be honest. It uses Unreal engine so it has some oomph behind it. But it does suffer from odd jerky moments where I assume it is loading in areas as you approach them, as so far it seems ....seamless. One thing annoying the fuck out of me though, breakable weapons. I mean....WHY??? I'm also playing Silent Hill 2 Hd at the minute and it is much better for having sturdy weapons. And considering they respawn where you collected them from, it seems odd to make them break at all. I reckon the combat is made clunky on purpose though. Going back through every single SH game they all play the same clunky way so it has to be intentional? It feels too similar between each game. This game doesn't feel any different from SH one in that regard at all. I'm working my way through the mines at the moment and a couple of puzzles have been ok. I'm playing it on hard difficulty for game and puzzles though, as I thought it would be too easy otherwise. I haven't been scared yet though either, but then SH2 isn't quite as scary as I remember it either. And yeah, why devs don't just copy the original monsters from the first couple of games is anyone's guess. But hey, even Capcom can screw up stuff like that - I played Resident Evil on the 3DS and the creature designs were awful. |

I gave up on Silent Hill Downpour in the mines....not scary...not thrilling, like Bon says: it just feels OLD. Just started Mass Effect 3. |

I'm in the main town now in Silent Hill and I'm disappointed that the side quests aren't like I imagined they would be. I thought there would be the odd townsfolk I would meet but it isn't like that. I maintain the "old" feeling must be down to Konami insisting on it in some way. I think they keep trying to recreate the feeling of the early games because they were successful at the time. I do agree that the combat really should be a whole lot better. But now I have it sussed out, even playing on hard I'm not dying at all and can just enjoy poking around. The monsters now being an irritant that halts progress once in a while. The trouble is that the original Silent Hill team disbanded a long time ago, and went on to make - the not very good at all - Siren on the PS3. I still think this is the best in the series since Silent Hill 3. But it needs the old system of the sirens going off and then the surroundings changing into that old metal rusty look. This actually feels more like Condemned to me - albeit without that games pretty good combat system. Oh and Juz, had a look on Indie's facebook page for anyone that looked hot enough for Tess Daly to go for, and there isn't anyone I can see who fits the bill I'm afraid....so which effing person are you eh?

I just used Liara and Garrus, unless forced to take someone else. Coming upto the last handful of missions on insanity, and it's so easy compared to (especially) ME2. As for the ending: disappointing. Not end-of-the-world bad like the interwebz bleating, but not reflective of the "individual ending" they hyped before ME1 went on sale

I'm still persevering with Downpour - actually, I'm enjoying it rather than persevering. Decided to have it as the last game I play of an evening. That way I play in a completely dark room, alone, and with 5.1 headphones on. It makes a huge difference to appreciating the atmosphere of the game for sure. I was creeped out/nervous several times last night while playing it - good stuff ![]() Mate fetched SSX over and I had a few games on that. What a disappointment. It has hardly anything in common with the old SSX games. Sure it has over the top tricks and jumps. But none of the pizzazz - none of the insanely steep villages to board through (at least none that I saw) and is just lacking in colour and atmosphere. Plays nicely, but shouldn't have the SSX name on it. Also picked up Colors 3D on the 3DS - its an art application. I enjoy scribbling on Letterbox on the 3DS and while I don't think I draw anything super amazing, I have had lots of compliments for them But this is on a whole other level, and what some people have created is mind boggling.
