Just tried playing Risen 2 from LoveFilm, and, despite just about everyone online saying that you have to persevere with it for a few hours, I just couldn't.

It looks and moves like absolute arse scrapings and the combat (which is regarded as the weakest link) is fucking appalling.

This could have been a BRILLIANT game (who DOESN'T want a pirate RPG?!), but, fuck me, this is SHIT.

:(

Got to admit that while the olympics have been on I haven't played any games at all. I've been too busy recording as much stuff as possible and then catching up on it all. I got hooked much more than I thought I would.

But the games finish just in time to get ready for Sleeping Dogs, so all good.

On a separate note, anyone got an iPad and recommend any games? I'm tempted to buy one, but still a little unsure. I fancy switching from physical copies of Edge magazine to the iPad version and saving myself some money in the long run (currently have to bus it into the city centre making the mag cost much more than it should). Before anyone asks, not getting a sub to the mag itself as the postie used to rape the magazine before it popped through the letterbox.

I think the Postie was just trying to make the mag less bloody dull and pretentious for you by covering it in jizz! :X

It's a funny one with Edge. I rarely agree with their reviews, but I do like the articles they usually print. But the editor (Tony Mott) is a friend of a friend and I somehow ended up being loyal to the mag (the friend wrote reviews for them back in the day when they were fresh faced).

I am currently still playing Kingdoms of Amalur and enjoying it still (40 hours in)....guess with age I'm finally "getting" RPG's.

I've also got The Amazing Spider Man which, so far, isn't very Amazing at all.

Just wanted to post that I finally finished the story in Driver San Francisco, and would just like to point out that, yet again, Reflections should just stick with the Director mode and knock he actual "game" on the head - it really was an utterly shite affair, with most of the challenges being unfair chores (this coming from someone who is, frankly, no slouch when it comes to driving games), and a completely lame story.

I LOVE Director mode (as I did in Driv3r), and just wish they'd release (on Live Arcade, maybe) this as a standalone product for the next game. I hate you, Reflections, for your SHIT games, but love you for your obsession with 70's cars and their chases.

I have (in a random on the spot purchase) just picked up a copy of POP: The Forgotten Sands. Will report in on it laters. Suffering from the summer gaming lull and needed something to keep me ticking over until Darksiders 2 next week. The only game I have unfinished at the moment is Skyward Sword and oddly I’m struggling to find the enthusiasm to pick it back up. Tres Stronge.

Oh and retro, I got Mrs Indie an iPad 3 as a wedding present and it is blinking ace. Gorgeous screen and is rarely not with us while we watch TV on the sofa in the evenings. We even left the laptop at home last week when on holiday as the iPad covers most of the essentials! Go for it, you’d be surprised how much use it gets.

Darksiders 2 for Dummies/Juz

In a nut shell the above sums it up. Lacks jugged up birds, but no game is perfect. Look, I love God of War, Dantes Inferno, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Souls Reaver, Tomb Raider etc blah etc. So this sort of thing is right up my street guv aaaaieeee.

And there is nothing weird about Dark Souls. I have been buffing my Quelaag's Furysword (ascended from +10 falchion and the souls of one of the daughters of chaos) and lightening halberd with titanite and lightening ember, levelled up my pyromancy flame to 10+ etc ready for the Artorias Of The Abyss DLC later this year. See aaaaaaall perfectly normal.

Says he who has played how much Skyrim;-)

Mixed reviews for Darksiders 2.

Loving POP: Forgotton Sands. Great level design in places and v slick free running as one would expect.

I'm on my phone, so that is all.

Started playing Sleeping Dogs last night....not bad, but this really IS completely by-the-numbers open world city-based gaming.

Makes a change for it to be in HK, but the day/night cycle seems to be more weighted towards night, or is that just me?

This game just makes me yearn for XB720....it could be EXACTLY the same, but running at 60fps would make it feel special....the hardware's showing its age, and I frankly dread the idea of GTA V pitching up on 7 (or 8, by the time it's launched) year old tech...jerkathon.

Well it is the first and last time I'll be using Sainsbury's online for day one games releases. They state on the website that they aim to get games to you for the day of release.

Come today....no game. Looking around the net it seems I'm not alone. Someone does some digging, and what is that on the website - they send games out 2nd class delivery - and they didn't post them until Thurs. There isn't a facepalm big enough. They can't seriously think they will get 2nd class postage packages to people in one working day.....the cunts :/

Oh and fuck new hardware :) Kinda fond of saving cash as I have said :) Not to mention that even if new hardware released this Xmas, you'd be looking at what? Two years into the new cycle before stuff like GTA appears? I've waited long enough.

The beauty is, they can release a new GTA on the current hardware and still release stuff on new consoles when they come out....devs are clever like that ;)

Finished PoP: Forgotten Sands and thoroughly enjoyed it! The free running is spot on and the controls are very well implemented. I just wish Tomb Raider still did something like this: not the free running but the environments. That was when Tomb Raider was on the money for me.

Anyway, not a lot to Forgotten Sands; run through linear (but lovely designed and imagined environments), traverse walls, poles etc, beat up minions and repetitive bosses and repeat. But nonetheless it’s a lot of fun. I know it’s knocking on for a couple of years old but its very old school and uncomplicated. But I kinda of liked it for its simplicity and unpretentiousness.

Also tried to finish Skyward Sword the last couple of nights and I hate to say it but just lost interest. Massive game and classic Zelda – but felt it has been a bit overlong and revisiting all the old levels time and again for reasons that only seem to exist to drag the came out became irritating.

Hey ho – Dark Siders 2 today!

Ooh and anyone seen the new screens for GTA V? Fighter Jets, push bikes etc - sweet!
